One Shot Manga's Fandubs
Project Overview
Introduction
Welcome to my fandub for a variety of different One Shot manga's. These dubs are for fun, but I am striving to create a good quality product for each one, to give the cast involved something to be proud as well as ourselves. We know it's not always easy getting experience, and I want these projects to be a high quality project for people of any experience level to either just have fun doing or so people wanting to get more experience and for everyone to have something they're proud of to share. This is one of multiple projects that are up or will being posted in the coming weeks. We are trying to build a surplus of videos up before they start going up in June. That way it will give the long term VA's for any of the projects some leeway if things come up down the road and they can't meet deadlines. Once June hits there will still be some coming up every so often but the majority of the projects for the next few months at least will be being listed this month or the beginning of April.
What I'm Looking For
Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:
- Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.
- Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio.
- Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.
- A good attitude! I'm hoping to form a great group of people to continue working with me on these projects going forward and that is obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!

The following is basic information on the one shots that the characters in this casting call are from. It is just for reference for any characters you are looking to audition for from that story.
Ability Shop:
A teenage boy is frustrated with his life because everything he does he fails at. He is tired of being called inept by everyone around him. So when he comes across a mysterious shop that claims to be able to give him whatever abilities he wants, in exchange for some of his life essence, he gladly accepts.

A prince sets out in a magical forest in search of a legendary witch, hoping that she will grant his wish to save his kingdom that has been struggling extremely badly. He ends up running into a girl named Gar who is also a witch and she helps him find his way through the forest. He is incredibly caring but naive and is constantly being fooled by the creatures of the forest that are set out to pray on people's caring nature. Gar on the other hand doesn't trust anyone and is constantly needing to save him from falling victim to the forests magic.

Sunflower Memory:
An adult daughter gets her mom started playing an MMO with her since her mom is laid up in bed in the hospital and unable to go anywhere. She thinks this will be the perfect way for her to feel not so trapped and be able to experience another world. The mom ends up getting addicted to the game, as it's her main escape and it is exactly what she needed. It also tells the story though of how the NPC's in the game are not just mindless characters but actually do live on inside the game as well.

A boy sets out to avenge the death of his parents from 5 years ago, by hunting down what the people believe is their hero and savior. The bioroids are artificially created humans with inhuman abilities that were created so serve mankind as heroes. But somewhere along the line... something went wrong.

A princess is locked away in a dungeon by the demon overlord and is trying her best to escape along with the help of her new gargoyle friends. Who comes off as a very vain and self absorbed princess, proves to be not at all what she seems at first, and the reasons why she is are not at all what you might think.

Re:Live:
Due to the governments new system for reforming murders, a 15 year old boys memory is totally erased, leaving him not knowing anything about himself or anyone around him. The only thing he has is his notebook of information and his sister to assist him... Or does he? He has come to terms with the fact that he killed someone although he doesn't remember, however his old friends believe otherwise. They are determined to find out the truth about what happened a year ago no matter how hard that truth may be.
*Warning* This story does deal with more mature themes and may not be suitable for everyone. There are obviously murders, as well as hints at sexual assault. Nothing explicit but things some people may not be comfortable with.

Toki Doki:
A teenage boy accidently walks in on a girl he has a crush on, changing in the infirmary. He notices that she has a medical device attached to her chest. The girl explains to him that the reason she is always so quiet and cold seeming is because she has an extremely rare disease that limits the amount of heart beats she has left in life. Because of this she refrains from doing absolutely anything that would get her heart rate up. She ends up confiding in Hato and expresses how much she would love to experience all the things she's missed out on before she dies and Hato decides to make it his personal mission to help her experience as many amazing things while she has the chance as they can, and all the things she's missed out on. Hato tells the story from his perspective of their summer together and how they changed each others lives.

Toshiki is the MC of the "Ability Shop" Manga. He needs to be voiced by someone versatile because he goes through a lot of changes throughout the story. He starts off as a more quiet and inept character until he starts gaining abilities to do whatever he wants to do well. He starts to change and become arrogant and cocky that he can do anything. He eventually ends up snapping and going totally insane when he finds out that the whole reason he wanted to become the way he is, is all for nothing. He does eventually snap out of it at the end and begins to turn back to the good hearted person he originally was.
Because of this, like I mentioned, he needs to be voiced by someone who is able to portray all the different personalities. I picture his voice being a bit of a mid-lower range teenage voice but I am open to interpretations on that as long as the character is there.

Rei is a prince that sets out to find help for his country and one of the main characters in the manga "Gar to Ouijisama". He is very naive at the beginning and just wants to see the good in everyone. Although he is naive, he is a very strong and noble prince.
I picture his voice being more mid-lower range and very caring, compassionate and noble sounding.
You didn't have to attack me all of a sudden like that, meow. If you had just told me that you were hungry I would have shared my food with you, meow *Calmly and concerned*
I can't just stay there and do nothing, so I went on a lone journey to find Garbera... To save my country!
If I don't try, I won't know if I can defeat it or not!!
Because... it's much more painful if I can't do anything for the people in trouble....

Liese is a minor character who pretends to be a damsel in distress to gain the Prince's help but then reveals her true intentions and poisons him and steals everything he has on him. Most of her lines are as a sweet and distressed young lady.
I picture her voice being a mid-higher range but nothing too high.
He can defeat it!
I came to find Garbera, to ask her to cure my mother's illness...

Lily was the best friend of the late legendary witch Garbera. When she passed, Lily tricked Garbera's daughter into trusting her and took over her mothers castle and magic book. She was taking advantage of villagers and anyone who could make their way to the castle to extort them for their wealth. She comes off as a very sweet and motherly type character but in reality she is a very evil person who has been manipulating things and causing people to suffer to further gain riches.
I would like her to have a more sweet motherly sounding voice, but that has a hint of untrustworthyness to it. The prince is able to see through her so although her voice is not the main reason, I would like it to have a hint to it that she is untrustworthy.
Good job coming all the way here... You must have come here to make a wish.
However... ordinary gems aren't enough to move me, you know?

The mom in the manga "Sunflower Memory" is sick and bedridden in the hospital. While she is there her daughter starts her playing an MMO with her to make her feel not so trapped where she's at. She begins getting wrapped up in it as an escape and continues playing on her own, working hard to build a house even though she never actually leaves the starting area.
I'd like her voice to sound weaker and more tired when it shows her in the hospital but with more energy and youthfulness when she's in game. Otherwise I'm not very particular about the type of voice as long as it's caring and gentle sounding.
It's been raining for a few days now... I wonder when I'll be able to see the sun again.. *Sitting in hospital room*

She gave me some kind of item!!
Oh, that house over there is pretty cute. What's that?
Now that I think about it, this is the first time I've come this far.
I guess it really is impossible at my current level. However unless I somehow get that... I can't really make a proper house...
The daughter in "Sunflower Memory" starts her mom up playing an MMO with her while her mom is stuck in the hospital. She teaches her how to play the basics and then as much as she wants to keep playing begins going through a busy period at work and isn't able to play with her as much as she initially did. She loves her mom deeply and when she hears that she wants to be able to be out of the hospital bed and see different scenery she thinks this is the perfect escape for her, which she is completely right.
She appears to be in her late 20's-30's I'd say and is hard working, very caring and a bit nerdy. I'm not overly particular on her voice but I do picture if being a bit more of a mid range tone, and a bit more level toned.
According to the weather forecast, the rain will be continuing for a little while longer.
I borrowed a laptop from uncle! Two of them in fact! Let's play together!
It's an online game I recently got addicted to. It's pretty popular among young folks these days.
Beginners should do this quest. You get money from it and can repeat it as many times as you want.

To be honest, I don't want to play this game anymore... After all, it's painful.... *torn and emotional*
The Eft Tree is in a high level area in the game in "Sunflower Memory". He is meant to protect the eft branches and make adventurers work and train hard to be able to gain even one. When one of the starting area NPC's comes to get some branches from him to assist the Mom in the story, he initially sounds very upset with her, but then eventually ends up working out a deal with her to give her branches as long as she comes back and tells him stories about the people she's seen.
I picture his voice being quite deep and able to sound quite menacing, but that can sound a bit more relaxed after as well.
What business do you have, little girl? This place is not one and NPC like you should tread.
Seasoned adventurers put their lives on the line to get one of my branches... Did you really think you'd be able to just come here and take a few away with a pair of scissors!?

Shioso is the MC of the manga "Hero Killer". After his family is murdered in cold blood, he sets off for revenge. He is an extremely smart and calculating person and plans everything out before trying to carry out his plan. Despite what his name as the Hero Killer would suggest, he is actually a very good and caring person and even risks his life to save a girl from being killed that he barely knew.
I picture his voice about a mid range, but am completely open to interpretations for him.
You can forget about it if you're waiting for a hero to show up. They aren't coming... This is reality.
Yeah... Hero Killer... That's what you can call me. *Threatening*
Bioroid.... A part of society thinks their existence is questionable.... But he seems to be getting a lot of good press.
For five years... I've been thinking non-stop about killing you... However... Everything will finally end today.
Right now I need knowledge and endurance...! And one day I'm going to find the guy that killed my parents... and push him into the depths of hell myself!!!
*Gets stabbed*
Go is a bioroid created to be a hero of humanity, with abilities far far beyond anything a human could possess. Despite their names as heroes and the fact most people admire them, Shioso knows the truth about them, that they are much more crooked and evil than people realize. Doing back room deals, murdering people and doing pretty much whatever they please with no consequences.
He starts off as a typical seeming guy with a bit of an attitude, knowing that everyone loves and adores him. However once he's attacked by Shioso he begins to drastically change, showing his true personality. He becomes exhilarated at the feeling of an actual challenge but once the reason is revealed he totally loses his cool and begins to completely lose it. Becoming cold, cruel and selfish. Even admitting how he's manipulated the main female character after he killed her father without her realizing.
I picture him having a typical arrogant jerk type of voice, like someone who figures they're more important than everyone else, but the VA needs to be able to yell and show anger for this role.

This criminal is a minor role at the beginning of the "Hero Killer" manga. He serves as the reason the Hero shows up to begin with and to demonstrate his skills and how much the city loves him. The criminal is is a special suit and thinks he is safe from the Hero because of it but is quickly proven wrong.
I picture his voice being quite gruff, and sounding like a basic criminal.
We've got a hostage in here you know?!

Dr. Ishinami is Shioso's father and the one who created the bioroids in the "Hero Killer" manga. He was murdered in cold blood 5 years before the story takes place and only appears in Shioso's flashbacks. Most of his lines are after he's been attacked and is dying, trying to pass on what information he can to his son before dying.
I picture him sounding very educated and considerate. The biggest thing for him though is being able to convincingly act out the dying scenes.
Hahaha! I'm sorry Shioso, there's nothing to be discussed about that

The narrator starts off the "Prison Princess" manga and is the one to finish off the story as well.
I am not particular as to the type of voice as long as it's strong and captivating to start the story off.
An army of demons appeared with the setting sun, and carried the fair Princess Sina away.
At the head of the army was the fearsome Overlord, who had woken from his slumber of two thousand years.
And they swore they had met... the hero of legend
Gargon is the MC in "Prison Princess"' main ally. He initially was one of the demons that was supposed to be holding the Princess captive but after she saves his family he began helping her escape. He acts annoyed with her for the majority of the story, completely perplexed by her at times and irritated at others. Deep down though he cares considerably for her and ends up putting his own life on the line to protect her.
I picture his voice being a bit deeper and gruff sounding but more on the younger side, not overly older. I'm open to interpretations though.

Gargon's little brother owes his life to the Princess in "Prison Princess". She saved him and his grandfather from being worked to death and they are completely indebted to her. They would do anything to help her escape the castle safely.
He's more easy going and cheerful than his brother and I picture his voice being a bit higher and lighter than his brothers voice. Somewhere in a mid range male voice.
No time for that now! The overlord is coming back tomorrow!

Gargon's Grandfather was also saved by the Princess in "Prison Princess" and will also do anything possible to help save her from the castle.
He is quite old so a deeper senior voice would be ideal for him.
Once the overlord has returned, he will be stronger and escape will be impossible
We used our power of transformation to search every nook and cranny of the castle.

The Queen is the Princess in "Prison Princess"' idol and the one she looks up to more than anyone. She taught her how to be strong and be the light that your people need as a Princess even in your darkest times. She is where she gets all of her strength and courage from.
She should have a very regal and refined voice. She is the definition of a regal Queen and that should be portrayed in her voice.
A Princess' duty is to wait in her castle!
It is a Princess' duty to stand before the people with a smile on her face to ease their unrest.
No matter how much pain you are in, hide it away where no one can see.
The Prince is Sina's brother in "Prison Princess". He starts off in her memories as a weak and cowardly prince. She was always able to beat her older brother in a fight and he never forgot that. He ends up melding himself with the demon Overlord and becomes one with him and is the reason his sister is being held captive. He plans to kill her in front of their father but decides to show her who the strongest is now by beating her to the brink of death.
The first line is when he is himself originally, the next 2 are once he is revealed from the Overlords form, and the last 3 are when he is fully in overlord form.
Ideally his voice should be a bit higher and weak sounding in parts, but also sound menacing in other parts as well. If it could be a bit deeper when he's in overlord form that would be ideal as well.

Kou is the MC of the "Re:Life" manga. He is a teenager who was convicted of murder and had his memory erased as part of the governments reforming program and sent back into society. Although he doesn't remember anything, he assumes he did kill someone obviously, although his old friends believe otherwise. So he starts looking around the area he supposedly committed murder, along with his friends to find out the truth.
He is a very calm and caring teenage boy and does go through spurts of fear and uncertainty throughout the story, not knowing who he is or what happened back then. I picture his voice being a bit more on the quiet and gentle side but able to emote strongly and yell if needed as well.
It was so embarrassing... I killed a man... Allegedly... Since I don't have my memories, I don't really feel it. *Thinking about what happened on his first day back to school*
Wait! You want to see?! Um... Well actually, I'm sure if I eat some of your cooking Saya-nee, I'll be able to remember something! *Surprised and uncomfortable*
That homeless man is in all of them... He lives there, so it makes sense... But... here... He's looking this way.... Here too... Here too...! Here too......! In all of them... He's looking this way!! *Examining the documents surrounding the murder, he comes to a realization*
Saya-Nee!!! We're getting out of here!!! *panic realizing him and his sister are in danger*
*In his head and uncomfortable* Wha-what's this atmosphere!! I feel like I have to say something...... *out loud* That''s right.... I'll go look for the other two!!!! *awkward and then Runs away*
No! These scissors were stuck in him when I found him!! *Panic when he's found with a dead body*
Saya is Kou's sister in "Re:Live". She has a very odd and awkward character. She is his big sister and is going to school to become a nurse. She is also incredibly overly protective of her little brother and tends to smother him quite badly. She is very cute and sweet though, although sometimes a bit too close seeming to her brother, but she just genuinely cares for him. At one point in the story the story shifts to hinting that she may be the actual murderer and so there is a portion of the story that she needs to still sound sweet but with a very uncomfortably creepy hint to it as all.
I picture her having a very typical girly anime voice, the very cute and sweet sound to it. More of a mid-high range because she is in university though.
Oh boy, you just can't do anything right without your onee-chan here. I'll take care of the dishes, so hurry up and go to school.

Sogabe is one of Kou's best friends from before he was convicted of murder. He is the more calm and level headed one of the group and doesn't really get excited or worked up in any situation. Even when he finds his friend with a dead body, he just calmly calls the police to report a murder. He appears to be more of the leader of the group and is the one that instigates the investigation into if Kou actually murdered someone or not.
He is a 15 year old just like Kou, but I do picture his voice being more mature sounding due to his temperament and personality. He should have probably a medium to maybe deeper toned voice as well.
This is where... You killed a man... But you don't look like someone who'd kill a person to us. So we wanted to test something

Then why is this guy holding the documents that we gave to you?
Kaji is one of Kou's friends in "Re:Live". He is more the slacker of the group and is pretty much the opposite of Sogabe who is totally level headed. He's totally fine just relaxing and not working, but whenever something happens he's also the one that's going to panic the most.
I picture his voice being more mid ranged, and he is also 15 as well.
Based on your actions at school, and your block just now... You are clearly right-handed.

The homeless man is a character in "Re:Live". He lives at the abandoned amusement park that the murder took place in and witnessed the original murder. He is a very creepy and preverted character and although he doesn't have too many lines, he does have lots of awkward laughing and breathing as well so emphasize how creepy he is.
I picture a bit lower and rougher sounding voice because he has been living on the streets for years, but I'm open to interpretations as long as the creepy factor is met.
Well, umm, my eyesight isn't so good.... No you're right... It was a sudden impulse

Hato Iijima is the MC and narrator of the "Toki Doki" manga. He walks in accidently on the girl he has a crush on in the infirmary changing and notices a medical device she has attached to her chest. After she opens up to him he decides to make it his mission in life to help her experience everything she has missed out on her whole life. As he narrates the story as well as voicing in the story, he tells about their summer together and how they changed each others lives.
This is an extremely emotional manga and needs a VA that can convincingly display all different types of emotion, from casual and cool, to over the top excited, to shy and nervous, to sad and heartbroken. He is a 17 year old boy and I picture his voice being around a mid range, maybe a bit higher even but am open to interpretations as long as it fits the character and can emote properly.
I'm a little taken aback when her image is so different from her personality. The only one who knows this side of her is me. It makes me slightly happy... It can't be helped. Each and every day... We had so much fun together *Narrating the story*

Ta-Takagi-san!! Were all those... Your true feelings? If that's true... I'll help you!! I'll help you enjoy life to the fullest and make your heart beat like crazy!! *Determined to help the girl after hearing about her medical condition and that she has never got to experience anything*
Well... I did say I'd help you... But if I get your heart pumping like that.... I wonder if it's the right thing to do... *concerned and second guessing himself*
Uoooooooooooh!!! I'm so glad I said it!!! So this is how Takagi-san looks when she smiles!!! *Blushing and super happy he made her smile for the first time*
That's why... I want to cheer you on with all my heart... Because of you, I've had so much fun in my life... Thank you Takagi-san... *Disappointed but trying to stay positive for her*
Kuranami is Hato's best friend that has known him since they were little in the "Toki Doki" manga. He is in the light music club with him and is always looking out for his friend and is very often concerned about him. He does not have a large role in the manga but he does have a very important role.
He is a very serious character and in very often questioning Hato as to if he is doing what he should be. He is not a very emotional character but comes off as a very stern but concerned friend. He doesn't talk a lot but when he does I picture his voice being a bit lower-mid range and fairly blunt and serious.
That's a good idea. And besides, Poppo's terrible at it

Here, Poppo wants me to pass it to you... *Slightly sad and serious but also with a hint of frustration at Poppo as he passes her her pick that Poppo took off to go find for her*
Although we are currently doing the video editing ourselves, with the amount of work we are going to be producing going forward we are very open to having help with the editing. Because of the nature of the project, we aren't able to provide compensation for this role either unfortunately, but if you are interested in gaining more experience and credits to your name, or just love the content and would like to work on a project for fun, we would love to hear from you!
The editing for the manga's is going to be fairly simple, just lots of transitions and words loading as speech is being overlaid. As well as inputting the audio tracks into the video as well obviously. There will also be an opening theme song that will be played at the beginning of each episode, but once that's produced the first time there won't be a new one till the next theme comes in down the road.
