Office Place
Project Overview
Hello! We are the student animation team known as Rat Salad, and this is our casting call for our short original film known as "Office Place": a dry comedy animated film set in the rundown company known as Amish Online, as our main characters Paul and Rudd's work day is suddenly turned on it's head after the boss sends his week old son, Nedward, to work with them (much to Paul and Rudd's dismay).
We are on the search for some talented individuals to join our colourful cast of characters, providing the voices of one of 2 of our protagonists Paul, our nepo-baby antagonist Nedward and the boss of our company Amish Online.
All voice actors will receive proper credit for our production such as being featured on the poster of Office Place, having your name in the credits and being added to the Rat Salad Website as voice actors.
We are happy to pay $100 for 2 hours of your time, provided by our amazing production manager through Paypal.
DEADLINE:
The cut-off auditions is 11:59 pm on the 5th of April, 2025, with voice actors being selected on the 6th and scripts being sent out on the same day. We will start recording on the 8th of April and we will send through the times for an in person recording once voice actors are selected. We also accept digital recordings if people are unable to attend the in person recording. ALL RECORDINGS MUST BE DONE BY THE 12TH OF APRIL.
WHAT IS TO BE EXPECTED:
If you are recording in person, we will welcome all voice actors to the team and bring them to the recording studio. Alongside 2 other members, including one of our lecturers we will begin recording lines. You will get the chance to interact with voice actors from varied backgrounds and put your skills on display.
WHAT WE EXPECT:
If you are unable to attend the in person recording, please send your recording as a .wav file (email address will be supplied). We do expect recordings to be clean, with little to no background noise if possible but if there is a slight amount then that's also okay: that can be cleaned up by us as long as the audio is clear.

Description:
One of 3 star roles in our production known as "Office Place": Paul is a 28 year old new hire, working alongside his co-worker Rudd at the company Amish Online. He's an anxious employee due to being new, but can stand up for Rudd and Himself. He often gets his work done at a more proactive pace when compared to his coworker, Rudd.
Voice:
The ideal voice for Paul is a higher pitch male voice: roughly 28-32. He needs to be very emotional and energetic in contrast to his co-worker Rudd. A good point of reference is Michael Cera's Scott Pilgrim.

Description:
One of 3 star roles in our production known as "Office Place": Nedward is the film's antagonist, being the week old nepo baby of the boss of Amish Online, sent in to work with fellow characters Paul and Rudd, in his own cruel way. Nedward needs to be cruel and sneaky, often putting both Paul and Rudd into harm's way for menial tasks with little care about their safety.
Voice:
Nedward needs to be the polar opposite of Paul, being very intimidating and and cruel. As such his voice needs to reflect this, being considerably deep and rough. The voice also needs to be done comfortably and safely due to it being a lead role. A good reference for what we are after is Kowalski from Ren and Stimpy.

Description:
The head honcho of the internet company 'Amish Online': The Boss is the father of our week old antagonist Nedward and put him to work at his company to get some experience into him, much to Paul and Rudd's dismay.
Voice:
Being the deepest voice of our cast, the boss' voice needs to show his age and why he's in charge of the company. It needs to be deep, signalling his presence with a bang. A good point of reference for his voice is Phil Harris' Baloo and Patou.
