Princess Precious Gem reigned over Equestria for many moons by hiding in the Celebration Castle until her father's death. Even after his passing, she neglected her subjects, and they all turned against her. Before her own demise, she had three daughters: Princess Snowflake, who had been born three years before her siblings; Princess Sunshimmer, who was fiery, constantly cross, and upset at everyone at how they treated her beloved mother that she never got to meet; and Princess Wisteria, who was five minutes younger than Sunshimmer. Now it's up to these three to reconcile their friendships with the grandponies of the citizens that had given up on their monarchy many moons ago.

All the ponies of Ponyville go to Kimono to get wisdom. After she started to grow scales, Magic Marigold finds out and begins to make up rumors about Kimono, resulting in her blossom being stolen. Kimono reveals the rumors aren’t true, and the only one is that she is half-dragon. Kimono and Magic Marigold get in a battle, which results in a gem and her house being destroyed. The season ends with Kimono being built a new gazebo.
