Project Overview

Fan-made parody of Mushoku Tensei – Jobless Reincarnation. A satirical take on genre-defining classic, in a British comedic style. Mushoku Tensei follows the life of Rudeus Greyrat, a NEET who, after dying and reincarnating into another world, resolves to live a fulfilling life this time around.

The fun bit:

Greetings and salutations! You’ve reached the casting for the first episode of Studio Peak Fiction’s latest venture: ‘Mushoku Tensei Abridged’! Following the success of our previous project, our aim is to have a more polished, professional look and sound, complete with a diverse cast of skilled voice actors. Unfortunately (for us at least) we have a severe shortage of female staff. That’s where you come in!

For this episode, we’re looking to cast the 3 remaining roles; the characters of Rudeus, Zenith and Nanahoshi. These will all be paid roles! More details follow in the character descriptions!

Musoku Tensei Abridged will be posted to our YouTube channel.

Essential Requirements:

·        Southern English Accent (or able to fake it!)

·        Good quality recording equipment and space (no background noise/echo/reverb/etc)

·        Aged 18+

·        Able/comfortable to speak loudly or shout

·        Comfortable saying ridiculous/out of pocket things and profanity

·        Commitment long term as this will be an ongoing series

·        Happy to have some fun with it!

 

Non-essentials (but handy to have):

·        Previous voice acting experience

·        Immersion in anime culture

·        Familiarity with the Mushoku Tensei anime (and even better: have read the light novels)

·        Understanding of British culture and mannerisms

Once you’ve received confirmation that you’re successful, you’ll receive an invite link to our 'Virtual Office' Discord server so we can have an easier time of communicating. If you don’t have Discord, communication via email is possible, but far less convenient (and I’m sure you’ll agree!).

Rudeus Greyrat is the main character of Mushoku Tensei, he’s the jobless one who has been reincarnated. This episode focuses on his growth up until age 5.


In this parody, Rudeus is inwardly quite cynical and rude, but outwardly very polite and unassuming. This will change as he grows, but at least for now, as a child, he remains this way.


His voice should be that of a young child. Think along the lines of Ash Ketchum from Pokémon, or Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender. Southern English accent is essential!

Zenith Greyrat is Rudeus’ mother in his new life. She is the very picture of what a British mother in the 90s was like; ready to pass down some life trauma to her kids in the name of parenting, even if she doesn’t mean to. She wants the best for her son, but as a young, first-time mother, she hasn’t quite worked out how to navigate the minefield of parenting yet.


Her voice will have great dynamic range. In one moment, she will be screaming in rage, and in another she’ll be quite happy. This role requires you to be very loud sometimes. Southern English accent is preferred, but any British accent is acceptable for this role.

Nanahoshi Shizuka is a small role in this episode (in fact she’s not even named yet), however she makes a grand and incredibly important return later in the story, although I don’t wish to spoil anything for those that haven’t seen the anime yet!


She’s a schoolgirl of around 16 years old. For her voice, think sarcastic British teenager and you’re basically there.


If you’re willing to reprise your role at a much later date, that would be much appreciated!


(Additionally, as this is currently such a minor role, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide a couple of extra voice lines for a background character who is a teenage bully).
