Morissa - Grown Woman, calm voice, sometimes tinged with a subtle sadness (Mother to Yaran and High Priestess of Altheon. Required to give a powerful performance filled with sorrow and anger at the climax of her story (Line 3))
'Father will be here presently,' [said Morissa.] 'Much toodangerous to go on your own.'
[Morissa's eyes narrowed.] 'Does not my husband wish toretreat to his home wherein he might find food andcomfort to wash away his weariness? Is there no time for ahusband and wife to share some time alone after long yearsapart?'
(Morissa questions a messenger that requires her to seek her husband elsewhere]'Cowards,' she said. 'World deniers. Dead bodies fallfrom the sky. Do you not see the truth of it all? No, the veilhas been drawn and we are blind. Brothers are not brothers.Sisters are not sisters. We rose from the timeless depthsonly to turn against one another. And for what? The gloryof powers unseen? The gods are folly and hate. A cruelserpent is my tongue.'
(Morrisa is on the brink of madness as she chastises a gathering of people she sees as blind fools. This is said just prior to her attempting to end her own life)
Daedren (Rough voice. Strong. The voice of a leader. Slowly turns into more of a weary, maddened character as the story progresses)
[Then the general went forth and lent his sword to thethe lord.] 'My heart swells to be within these walls againBalteros' son, for though I come bearing grave news, all isnot lost and I deem all shall be right and good in Altheon.Hear me! I have seen the workings of the gods first-hand.'
(Daedren addresses the Lord Xanados and a congregation of high ranking people)Never shall I ascend in glory to Shaldokos and behold the souls-lights of myfathers. I have not the strength of The Messenger. I am Unshathar. I am he who the gods detest.
(Daedren despairs upon the brink of suicide. He calls out to the Gods. Pronunciation guide: [Shal-doh-cos] [Oon-sha-thar])'I shall hold you ever in my heart, Avarius,' [said thegeneral,] 'for I would have perished from hunger were it notfor you. And thank the gods for guiding you to me. Now,lord, I ask you: is my pain not Lokoss' pain? Did not thegod Muna speak unto The Messenger as he did me?'
(Daedren thanks Avarius, his second in command, for saving his life in battle. He then turns to the Lord Xanados and speaks before a gathering of royal peoples) Pronunciation guide: [Ah-var-ee-us][Law-kos][Moon-a]
'He will be too busy eating for tales,' [said Yaran. Hetwirled a lock of his mother's hair around his finger.] 'Thenhe will want to rest. When will I hear of his adventures?'
(Yaran is eager to see his father, Daedren and speculates that he will not see him soon enough)'I should like to see the lord. Will my father be there also?'
(Yaran learns he is to see the Lord of Altheon)'Lord,' [said Yaran. He stuck out his chest and raised hisvoice as high as he could.] 'I am Daedren's son. I shall doeverything I can to help this city. I shall slay your enemies.Fight the hordes of the Low Ones. I shall ascend to glory. For Altheon, City of Truth!'
(Yaran barely holds back tears as he thanks Avarius, second in command of Altheon's warriors, for saving his Father in battle)
Xanados (confident, subtle, filled with malice. Accent open to interpretation though as with every character I would prefer they were done in an accent ranging from neutral (no specific accent) to english.)
'Fear not, my child,' said Xanados. 'This one is tame. Hewas called Elgaron after the fashion of his own kind. Thatname is fading.'
(Yaran is frightened by a Man from outside the city of Altheon. Xanados assures he is safe while at the same time mocking Elgaron)'Fascinating,' [he said, the word drawn out and serpentine.]'Tell me your story, warrior. Tell your lord what you haveseen that he might better know the will of the gods. Let theThree hear your account that you may be judged worthy ofAscension.'
(Xanados asks Daedren to recount a great battle before a congregation of high ranking peoples)
