'Father will be here presently,' [said Morissa.] 'Much toodangerous to go on your own.'
[Morissa's eyes narrowed.] 'Does not my husband wish toretreat to his home wherein he might find food andcomfort to wash away his weariness? Is there no time for ahusband and wife to share some time alone after long yearsapart?'
(Morissa questions a messenger that requires her to seek her husband elsewhere]'Cowards,' she said. 'World deniers. Dead bodies fallfrom the sky. Do you not see the truth of it all? No, the veilhas been drawn and we are blind. Brothers are not brothers.Sisters are not sisters. We rose from the timeless depthsonly to turn against one another. And for what? The gloryof powers unseen? The gods are folly and hate. A cruelserpent is my tongue.'
(Morrisa is on the brink of madness as she chastises a gathering of people she sees as blind fools. This is said just prior to her attempting to end her own life)
