Project Overview

SYNOPSIS

There is a man who follows you. You call him Geist. He has followed you for years, but no one else can see him. He follows, and he whispers. He wants to keep you to himself, and when you meet a new boy at college, he’ll do anything to make sure you stay in his grasp. 

(For those in the know, MINDMINDMIND is meant to draw on the “yandere” trope: a person who is “dangerously” obsessed with their love interest, oftentimes to the point of violence.)

THE GAME

MINDMINDMIND is a psychological/supernatural/romance visual novel. It will be a ~20k word game with 2 endings. It will be released on itch (and probably later on Steam). It is a standalone game being released for the NanoRenO 2024 game jam taking place during March (a jam where you are challenged to make a visual novel in one month).

THE TEAM

I am a solo developer, so I do just about everything for my projects (character/background art, animation, programming, and writing) except for music/SFX. MINDMINDMIND will be my fifth publicly released project, and my third project working with VAs. You can check out my other work here.

CONTENT WARNINGS

This game revolves around mental health and anxiety (specifically social anxiety). Geist often acts in ways that are emotionally abusive and manipulative towards the player. Other than that there will be no questionable content.

COMPENSATION

Payment will be handled via Paypal in US Dollars. Transaction fees will be covered on top of the rates listed below. Payment will occur upon delivery and approval of audio files. 

All VAs will be paid $1.50 per line, with at least 75 lines per role ($113). As this project is noncommercial, this rate is not negotiable.

AUDITIONS

All communications will be conducted through Discord and/or Email.

Requirements:

Only audition if you are 18+.

Good audio quality with no noticeable room reverb or background noise.

Audition Specifications:

Record 1-3 takes of each line in ABCABC format. Include all the takes in one file. Don’t include too many seconds of silence before each line.

Please do not edit your audition other than basic cuts/leveling. No processing/compression. 

TIMELINE

March 6th, 2024: Deadline for auditions. Auditions submitted after this time will not be considered.

Early March: Deliberation period. Successful applicants will be contacted by March 10th, and they will receive a script immediately. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted (thank you for your understanding)!

March 10th-March 24th: Recording period (2 weeks). While I may not release the voiced version specifically for the jam timeframe, I do want to try to include it, so please only audition if you have availability during this time!

March 24th-March 27th: Retakes, if required.

March 31st: Game release.
