Showrunners, Writers & Editors Wanted – Melon Media United Pop Culture Channel

Project Overview

About Us:
Melon Media United is a volunteer content creation group focused on pop culture and geek news. We began as a small YouTube Shorts channel, delivering quick, engaging pop culture updates. Thanks to our team’s dedication, we’ve grown from three members to dozens, producing 77 videos and reaching over 3,000 subscribers across YouTube and TikTok as of this listing.

While short-form content remains a core focus for Melon Media, we are now exploring the option of expanding into long-form videos and series as well. This includes:

  • Deep dives on characters, series, and lore

  • Commentary and structured analysis

  • Original series in a testing phase

Our Vision:
We are not a company—we are a creative group—but our goal is to eventually monetize the channel so that contributors can be compensated for their hard work. Right now, this is a volunteer opportunity, but joining gives you:

  • Real-world creative experience

  • Collaboration with a growing, passionate team

  • The chance to contribute to content seen by a live audience

  • Credited portfolio work

Team Expectations:

  • Must be 18+

  • No AI generated content. MelonMediaUnited condones the use of AI in the creative field

  • Contributors must commit to collaboration and follow-through—Melon Media works as a team

Current Opportunities:

  • Editors – Open now, especially for those interested in long-form content at the moment our editor positions have closed we will create an update for when they reopen!

  • Showrunners – A new role for creators who want to develop and lead their own series

  • Writers – This is a towards both Journalists AND Deep Dives/Video Essays, they are two separate positions but both fall under this category

Showrunners are the creative leads for original series on Melon Media United. This is your chance to take full ownership of a project, shape its direction, and oversee it from concept to final upload.

Responsibilities:

  • Bring your own series idea or collaborate with our team
  • Define the tone, structure, and direction of your series
  • Oversee episodes from concept through upload
  • Coordinate with writers, editors, and other contributors to maintain quality and consistency

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong storytelling instincts
  • Clear and professional communication
  • Organization and project management skills
  • Dedication, creativity, and reliability

Support & Guidelines:

  • We can assist with casting calls for voice actors, editors, or other roles
    • Melon Media will not support series that contain:
    • NSFW material
    • Content intended to divide or discriminate (racist, sexist, etc.)
    • Overtly political content (politics is allowed, but it must remain neutral)
    • AI-written scripts (we provide human writers and journalists for assistance) Melon Media condones the use of AI in the creative field
