Project Overview
Hi, hi! I’m Joy, the solo developer for “Lord of Lies” a dark fantasy/queer romance RPG/visual novel, as well as the founder and lead for Meant To Bee Studios and all its equally queer romantic projects.
Thank you for your interest in auditioning! Lord of Lies is a very special project to me! It was my first solo developed project, and my longest game to date. It has a sizeable cast of extremely lovable characters and a story that is super important to tell.

The voiced acted version of this game is planned to be released on or before December 31st 2024. The one year anniversary of Lord of Lies’ release. Even if this deadline isn’t hit, I will release as soon as all recording is done, and the script is properly implemented.

Lawrence is a skilled musician and magic user with the ability to detect any and all verbal lies. Despite this he has continued to struggle in life and only wishes to have a home and a family of his own one day. Because of this, Lawrence decides to join the ‘Noble House Witch Hunters’ to earn enough money to make his dreams become a reality.

Charles is Lawrences’ younger brother. Though not related by blood the two are thick as thieves. Charles is a skilled hunter, with the ability to track down any living creature as long as he has their dna. Charles loves everything outdoors, and spending time with his venomous hound, Bella (able to rename in game).
“I went out at night, I brought the hound! I was as careful as I could be!” (whiny, irritated, sharp)
“You're so negative! We're so lucky to even be chosen. How selfish can you be?” (Defensive, trying to shut the conversation down, already annoyed.)
“If I was stronger, or if I was paying attention… If I hadn't been so careless…” (On the verge of tears, self depreciating, And being hard on himself.)

Personality: Confident, charismatic, big brotherly, and playful.
Age: 50
King is the founder and leader of the ‘Noble House Witch Hunters’ the group Lawrence and Charles are recruited into. He’s a bit cocky and longs for female attention, but he serves as a skillful mentor and companion on this winding adventure.
“How about you settle down and we can talk, what do you say boys?” (Challenging, trying to talk someone down, and a little playful.)
“No need to sound so offended. All the women I've been with have only wonderful things to say about me.” (Sleezy, saying in ‘matter of fact’ way, braggadocious.)
There are plenty of ways to lie that aren't just words, you know. (Conniving, condescending, villanous.)

Personality: Flamboyant, dramatic, authentic, and egotistical.
Age: 30
Special Notes: He’s a performer/actor so he speaks clearly, and in a way you want to listen.
Duke is an actor, son of a dangerous criminal family, and a skillful magic user. He’s prone to eccentricities and seems to be only out for himself. Duke’s natural magnetism makes him an important member to the group. Anyone who is attracted to men, will be attracted to Duke. However, this hasn’t prevented Duke’s ex lover Prince from cheating and betraying him.
“Can you believe that? After going through the effort to save my life, she just wanted to keep me like some sort of- pet!” (Flabbergasted, appalled, dramatic.)
“Well hello again, Knight~” (Flirty, teasing, inviting)
“I'd have betrayed this group to be with him. I'd have done it in a heartbeat…” (Heartbroken, confession, almost crying, defeated.)

Personality: Intelligent, friendly, diplomatic, and diligent.
Age: 20
Zahir is the group doctor and Duchess’ fiance. Though he doesn’t fight alongside the group, he does stay at your camp and supply you with all you’ll need on your journey. He’s exceptionally friendly and intelligent and strives to help the group in any way he can.

Prince is Gala’s brother and Duke’s lover. That was before he disappeared. When he returns he’s covered in scars and unveils a secret the witch hunter group has been hiding. Prince is immortal due to his superhuman ability to regenerate himself. It’s hard to know if he is friend or foe?
“Cassius! You're alive! You're alive…” (Incredibly relieved, (thinks his lover was killed while he was away), left almost speechless.)
The 'how' is easier to answer than the 'why'. I'm still trying to understand it myself.” (Nonchalant, professional, maybe a little bit of attitude.)
“I'll give credit where it's due. You're bold, Lawrence. Or did Gala (Gay-luh) put you up to this?” (Amused by the audacity, confrontational, questioning.)

Accent: American/British
Personality: Devoted, cool, tough, mysterious, and precise.
Age: 23
Gala ‘Princess” is the 2nd highest ranked witch hunter in all the land. Mentored by King since she was 13 years old she has worked tirelessly to ensure his and her group’s safety. As a traveling sword she hasn’t had much time for anything else. Her power to nullify other marked abilities makes her extremely valuable.

Duchess is Lawrence’s childhood friend/crush who has done many great things in the 10 years since they separated. Now as a witch hunter, Duchess uses her exceptional strength and natural likeability to become a noblewoman with much influence. Though, her recent arranged engagement to Zahir may cause her to forego nobility altogether.
“Curses, yes...I suppose there is something between us, but- it's complicated.” (Caught trying to avoid a subject, conflicted.)
“I want to have hope, that this was the Angel's will, that he is in a better place but-” (Mourning, on the verge of tears, emotional.)
“I want to enjoy this night with King. My fate is my own choosing and I won't be judged for it.” (Making a declaration, speaking firmly but not aggressively.)

Accent: Open to any interpretations
Personality: Fiery, wise, vengeful, unique.
Age: Unknown
Solana is an enemy to the Noble House Witch Hunters, and King her ex-husband respectively. Hoping to take back their child, Ashellah, in the process. The group is willing to do anything necessary to prevent this from happening. Ashellah has a power so great, that it can shatter the world if left in the wrong hands.
“This is a leap of faith. Sure, you could all use this against me. But, I don't believe you stand against me.” (Speaking matter of factly. Confident in their secret motives.)
“I do not wish to know anything about the despicable means he employed to traverse the Rift...!” (Disgusted, starting to get upset, trying to stop the conversation topic.)
“Farewell the yonder fallen gates And broken spears, and sorry fates, And sunlit streets, once gems of old,” (Reciting a stanza from their favorite poem.)
