Link's Awakening DX Game Dub
Project Overview
Hi! I'm Magic Kaito/Kathy, and as a passion project, I'm looking to dub over as much of the dialogue as possible from the Game Boy classic "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening"! It's one of my personal favorite games and I think it deserves all the attention it can get. I've directed and produced other things in the past, usually audio only, but I've made sure I can handle putting this to video. I intend to post this as a short series of videos on YouTube.
As a working voice actor myself, I can't give a solid schedule for release dates, but rest assured I AM going to see this through. Bear with me if I end up going through long stretches where I need to focus on other things, however.
Game Overview:
Link's Awakening is the last storyline installment in the tale of the hero from A Link to the Past. He saved Hyrule, then he saved the Oracles (even though those games came out later). While sailing home from either Holodrum or Labrynna, he's caught in a storm and his raft is destroyed. Luckily, he washes ashore on Koholint Island and is discovered by a young woman named Marin, who happens to look a lot like Zelda (at least back then, I think Marin upstaged her so much they had to redesign Zelda).
Link regains consciousness in the home Marin shares with her father, Tarin. He quickly learns that Koholint is oddly cut off from the rest of the world, and he can only leave and return home if the legendary Wind Fish awakens. A mysterious owl sets him off to retrieve the Instruments of the Sirens, which have the ability to open the giant egg atop Mt. Tamaranch that the Wind Fish slumbers within and end his sleep.
Link travels the entire island, meeting a variety of colorful people, animals, and monsters, and battles his way through 8 dungeons with many other required and optional quests along the way. But Koholint Island may not be exactly what it seems, leaving this three-time hero in a precarious moral position...
Project Overview:
I want to showcase the amazing story, world, and musical content of this Game Boy game while highlighting the first really interesting and diverse cast in the series with voice acting. I'm also hoping to encourage anyone who hasn't played the game to experience it for themselves.
My plan is to make an as of now undetermined number of episodic videos, taking the time to experience as much of the dialogue as one possibly can. I will record the game footage and time the on-screen text with the recorded dialogue. I have already compiled most of the script after several playthroughs, and am planning on putting together the final project's order while auditions are being held. While I also want to avoid lots of gameplay segments to allow new players the chance to discover that on their own, I also want to show off the astoundingly large soundtrack of the game and I'm still determining how to best balance that.
Requirements to remain in consideration:
- Clean sounding microphone. The quality of your audition will be considered, so use your best.
- No background noise (TVs, pets, lawnmowers, etc.).
- No clipping, peaking, popping, or other distortions.
- DO NOT apply any effects to your recordings! If necessary, you can use noise reduction & amplification and/or light compression, otherwise I want to hear your "natural" voice.
- Troll auditions will be immediately declined and may put any legitimate auditions you make out of consideration.
- Be respectful to other auditioners, castmates, and members of the voice acting community. Any sort of harassment or bullying will not be tolerated and could result in you not being cast or getting removed from the production.
- If cast, I expect you to be timely and to meet any and all deadlines I may set. If problems arise, I will grant extensions, but you need to contact me before the deadline has passed. I may also ask you for retakes, which I will run on a similar basis.
- Be professional AND have fun!
Notes/Answers to likely questions:
- You may audition for as many roles as you'd like. I may cast people in multiple roles.
- I'm afraid I do not personally have time to give critiques. Please feel free to give constructive feedback to each other, however!
- I WILL NOT cast ANY parts until after June 5th. The official end time is 11:00 UTC on June 6th. When that passes, I may cast some roles and leave others open with an extended deadline if need be. Extended auditions will follow the same guidelines regarding the new deadline and casting.
- I reserve the right to cast offsite or to self-cast. I will ONLY self-cast Extra or possibly Minor roles.
- The listed gender is what I know that character to be. The "Male/Female" designation means the game is never clear so I am open to any gender. If you can believably voice a gender different than your own, feel free to audition for the roles you're interested in!
- Yes, I DO want the Quadruplets voiced by the same person, think both Fisherman locations are the same character, and consider the Animal Village rabbits different enough that they could have separate actors.
- Other than having the dialogue being voiced, I'd like to let the graphics and music of the game speak for themselves and will be keeping them as-is.
- On that note, I am NOT dubbing the songs. There are several reasons, such as me being a horribly picky descendant of a composer and the fact that the Frog's song is so dissonant it causes me physical discomfort. But there IS one line written for one of the songs.....
- For those familiar with getting 100% in the game, I will cover the "THIEF" section but I am not finishing the game with everyone calling Link that.
- In other 100% notes, I am trying to avoid spoilers both about the plot and certain production choices I've made on this listing just in case. Therefore, I may not have much more I'm comfortable with explaining to you at this point.
- Certain Extra roles have their entire part listed for the audition. I may be able to use the chosen audition files in the final production. However, please assume I will be asking you to record something new for any role you may receive.

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to say I have not forgotten about this, but over the last week and a half when I haven't been sick with one thing or another, I've been busy trying to catch up on other things that being sick is getting me behind on. If I weren't sick right this moment, I'd give you a guesstimate for which day in this next week I'll finally have decisions made... While I still don't know which roles, there will likely be reopened auditions on some roles into mid-July. I'm attending AX at the beginning of the month which will be a trek for me, so I want ample time around that. Thanks, and sorry again for the wait!

Auditions Closed!
Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! I'll be going through them for the next few days and hopefully will have decisions made in no longer than a week. I have not yet decided if I'm extending auditions for some of the roles. If I do, that DOES NOT mean I will not cast it to a currently submitted audition! I'd just like to hear some more approaches to the role to better decide what fits best for this project. Thank you again! -
Deadline extended by one week
Hello! I've been loving listening to everyone's auditions, they've been great! Due to the sometimes suddenly busy schedule I mentioned in the project description, though, I have realized I'm not going to have any time to cast this week, so I've pushed the deadline back until next Tuesday. I'd love to hear more auditions all across the cast, too! The harder my job is, the better. -
Updates
I've added more details about what the project is going to be and the voice types I have in mind! If you've already submitted or have files ready to submit, feel free to send those and/or adjusted auditions if you want whenever you're able before the deadline.
Marin is the young woman who finds Link awash on Koholint Island. She is a beloved singer to the residents of the island, though she's a bit of a one-hit wonder. She dreams of being able to leave the island and travel the world to perform for more people. Marin also has a mischievous, slightly snarky side which you can see if you spend enough time with her.
Marin has the most lines out of any character in the game, though word count-wise the Owl is not far behind her.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Kind, Musical, Determined, Caring, Playful, Impatient
I wonder where these coconut trees come from? …Tarin says there is nothing beyond the sea, but I believe there must be something over there… When I discovered you, Link, my heart skipped a beat! I thought, this person has come to give us a message…
Somebody, HELP! Hey! Link! Some monsters put me up here! What should I do?! I’m afraid of heights!!
Not very good… Eh? What? Did I say something? No, you’re hearing things…
The Owl appears at various times to provide Link with information and guide him on what to do next. This is the predecessor to the infamous Kaepora Gaebora from Ocarina of Time, and while not quite as aggravating, the Owl is VERY wordy. Almost all of its lines begin and end with hooting.
Other characters have more individual lines than the Owl, but the only role with more words spoken is Marin.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Knowledgeable, Mysterious, Concerned, Encouraging
Hoooot! The Wind Fish sleeps long and dreamily in the Egg above… When you play the eight Siren Instruments in front of the Egg he will awaken. This, my friend, is the only way for you to leave the island! Hoo!
Hoooot! That is an ‘Instrument of the Sirens!’ I have to admit, at first I did not believe you were real… I was instructed to give you directions… Your next goal is north, in Goponga Swamp!! Hoot, indeed!
Hoot! The many monsters of this island fear that the Wind Fish is about to awaken! The monsters’ power is real! They may conquer the island and destroy their foes! That day may come soon! Now, go to the mountain tower! Fly like a bird! Hoot! Hoot!
Old Man Ulrira is a knowledgeable but shy citizen of Mabe Village. If you call him on the phone, however, he is very chatty and can easily give Link advice from his wealth of information. Sort of the first "wait, what was I supposed to do next?" helper role in a Zelda game.
Voice Range: Open on the pitch, the only requirement is he needs to sound like a believable senior male.
Traits:
In-Person: Reserved, Awkward
On Phone: Enthusiastic, Helpful, Informative
Ulrira speaking! You know, there is a library in the village that might have some good information for you! Talk to you later!
Hi, it’s Ulrira! Have you heard of the Flying Rooster of Mabe Village? In the good old days, it used to give us rides if we held it above our heads… Now it is lying under the Weathercock… Is that useful for you? I hope so! Bye!
(Link is talking to him in his house) Er… Uh… Hmm… How to say… Please call… Outside…
Tarin is Marin's father. He likes to go out looking for mushrooms or other food and sleeping. He has a very casual, unsophisticated speech pattern which is written into his dialogue. Many aspects of his character are taken from Mario, but I AM NOT looking for that sound for his character.
Voice Range: Low to Medium-high
Traits: Friendly, Shortsighted, Dense, Caring
**ANYONE AUDITIONING FOR TARIN IS ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION FOR THE RACCOON AS WELL**
Well, Link, ya finally snapped out of it… Name’s Tarin… Hope yer feelin’ better… What? How did I know your name? You think it's weird, eh? Well, I saw it on the back of this shield!
Hrrrm… Snore… Hunh?… If’n ya don’ know…call old man Ulrira! Zonk… Snore…
I was hungry somethin’ fierce so I went and got bananas at the beach… Link, if you want some, you should go and get some!
Four remarkably alike young brothers (even though one is randomly wearing a different color than the others) who give Link various tutorials, advice, and commentary during the game. But don't ask for a more thorough explanation, they're just kids!
Voice Range: Medium-high to High, needs to sound like a prepubescent male.
Traits: Juvenile, Naive, Confident, Defensive, Helpful
Well, it seems that after you save, you will start at the last door you went through… I’m not really sure why that is ‘cause I'm just a kid!
Dude! You're asking me when we started to live on this island? What do you mean by ‘when?’ Whoa! The concept just makes my head hurt!
Hey buddy! It's serious! Yeah, really serious!! Yeah, it is! The Moblins came to the village! Yeah, that's right! A whole gang of Moblins! Then… It's for real! They all went to the house… Yeah, that house, and then they did something at BowWow’s house!!
The Fisherman runs the fishing hole in Mabe Village, and can also be found fishing in Martha's Bay. He is very passionate and enthusiastic about fishing, to the point where he'll still try even if he doesn't have a hook.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Impassioned, Friendly
It’s no use, little buddy! A fish took my hook… I keep casting my line into the water, but I haven’t got a bite… I thought this would happen…
WHOA! That’s a big one! Hey, photo guy! Can you take a picture of this?
You have to have more passion! Live a little!
The Photographer seems to be a large mouse who is very passionate about his job! He also ends up a bit ahead of his time when it comes to illustrating the dangers of distracted picture/selfie taking.
Voice Range: Medium to Medium-high
Traits: Eager, Zealous, Single-minded
Hey, that look great! I’ll call it ‘Link Plays With BowWow!’ Now get closer to BowWow! Link, get closer!
Hi, Link. You know I love to take pictures. Wouldn’t this old castle make a great photo?
I just LOVE to take pictures. Will you let me take your picture? [PAUSE] No picture?! Are you pullin’ my leg? [PAUSE] What a bummer!
Richard is from a high-class background, but has been driven from his lavish lifestyle. He can also be misleading when making demands of someone. He has a tendency to use French words and phrases, however I'd like him to have a posh British or sophisticated North American accent.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Pompous, Refined, Commanding
Salutations! You wouldn’t know by the look of me, but I used to live in the castle! My servants went berserk and I was forced to flee to my villa… So, you want the key to Ukuku Prairie, do you? I may be able to help you… Let’s make… a deal, shall we?
Ahem! Really, I must insist that you not bring that awful beast in here! Leave that creature outside and then we can talk! Good Bye!
I’m not afraid. I just decided to wait at home.
The Wind Fish is the oft mentioned mystical figure of Koholint Island. No one can leave the island while he's sleeping, which tells you what he's doing for the vast majority of the game.
Voice Range: Low
Traits: Powerful, Ethereal, Dozing
I AM THE WIND FISH… LONG HAS BEEN MY SLUMBER…
HUMAN, MONSTER, SEA, SKY… A SCENE ON THE LID OF A SLEEPER’S EYE…
BUT, VERILY, IT BE THE NATURE OF DREAMS TO END! COME, Link… PLAY THE EIGHT INSTRUMENTS! PLAY THE SONG OF AWAKENING!!
Ulrira's boisterous wife. She spends her time sweeping the island. Yes, even outside. I don't get it, either.
Voice Range: Open on the pitch, the only requirement is she needs to sound like a believable senior female.
Traits: Loud, Exuberant
YAHOO! I worked too hard and now my broom is worn to the handle!
She's had an awful tragedy in the house across the way! It's just awful, and all I can do is sweep!
Okay! In return you can have this fishing hook I found when I swept by the river bank!
The proud owner of BowWow and two smaller Chain Chomps she doesn't seem to care nearly as much about. She can be very absorbed in her own world and expects others to care just as much about it as she does.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Pretentious, Boastful, Spirited
It's terrrrible! My BowWow was dognapped by… Mo-mo-MOBLINS!! OHHH! AHHHH! Please! Somebody help my poor BowWow!!
Oh thank you! I’m so happy you brought my baby back! Now, would you be a dear and take him for a walk? It would really help me out a lot! You will?! Thanks!
The fourth-wall shattering father of the quadruplets and a very vaguely mentioned infant. He has a bit of a bucolic dialect when he speaks.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Friendly, Simple
Yep! Those’re my boys! I’m Papahl, pleased ta meetcha! I'll be lost in the hills later, so keep a look out for me, hear?
Now, I am so famished I can’t move! Can you give me some vittles?
(He's just finishing eating) AH! This isn't meant to be a reward… Here, take this hibiscus!
Papahl's wife, and the mother of the Quadruplets. She doesn't actually have a name, I just always assumed it was this.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium
Traits: Motherly
Because they all look alike, even I am sometimes confused… By the way, my baby wants a Yoshi Doll. I saw one at the Trendy Game, but I couldn't get it.
My husband is lost in the woods! Please go find him!
A simple, unassuming businessman in Mabe Village. Unless you try to cheat him. Then there is no one more dangerous on the island....
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Enthusiastic, Commercial (not like the voice over style, though), Vindictive
Hey! Welcome! See something you like?! Just bring it here!
I wasn’t kidding when I said pay! Now, you’ll pay the ultimate price!!
He runs the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. He's usually very down-to-business and focuses on his job. He looks a lot like the Raft Ride Operator, but they're separate characters.
Voice Range: Open on the pitch, just needs to sound believable
Traits: Professional, Strait-laced
The A and B Buttons move the crane… The rest is just timing! Go over to the buttons to play! Good Luck!
You’re good! You’re a pro, aren’t you? [PAUSE] Well, beat it! Pros aren’t allowed in here!
An alligator (or is he a crocodile?) who owns a banana shop on the beach. Sale is a very friendly salesman (I see what they did there), though he can get slightly hysterical regarding his hobby of "collecting" canned food.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Amicable, Frenzied
Welcome to Sale’s House O’ Bananas! I'm Sale, this is my house! Actually, my hobby is collecting rare and unusual canned food. My brother is an artist, so I guess strange hobbies run in the family!
What’s that you have?! It’s canned food! For heaven’s sake, man, give that can to ME!! PLEASE!
A witch who lives in a hut near the Mysterious Forest. She can make Magic Powder from Toadstools. So basically she's the exact same character from A Link to the Past.
Voice Range: Medium-low to High
Traits: Helpful, Witch-y
Double double, toil and trouble a toadstool mix makes powder for tricks!
Good job! Use it on your enemies and see what happens. If you run out, go to the forest, pick some mushrooms, and I will make you more.
Crazy Tracy runs a health spa that sells her Secret Medicine, which serves the same purpose as a fairy in a bottle in other Zelda titles. She can be a little flirty as she's dealing, and her prices fluctuate.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Flirtatious, Reassuring, Strong-Minded
Hi there, big guy! I’m Crazy Tracy! I’ve got a little secret for sale that’ll pump you up!
All right, come here and I’ll rub it on you! …There… I’ve applied my own secret medicine! It will take effect when you lose all hearts! Drop by again, big guy!
Well! I’m only offering you a secret that will make you strong! You’re such a chicken!!
This strange creature gets so mad whenever it's woken up that you're cursed with additional storage space. The bastard...
Voice Range: Medium to High
Traits: Agitated, Impish, Sardonic
Hey, Kid! You woke me up from a fine nap!! …Thanks a lot! But now, I’ll get my revenge! Are you ready?!
Heh Heh Heh! You deserve it! Now look at all that junk you have to carry!
A weird man who lives outside of the forest. He spends his time writing letters, but is pretty lonesome as nobody answers him.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high. While I listed him as middle age, I mean I don't want him to sound like a very young adult
Traits: Introspective, Occupied, Lonely
Well… I pretty much stick to myself, me and my letters… My name’s Write! The only things I don't like about my hobby is that I never receive a response…
What’s this?! A letter for me?! I’m so happy! …And look! The letter came with a photograph! Mmm… She’s so beautiful…
The Fairy Queen is at the end of the Color Dungeon and controls the colored tunic gimmick for the DX version to promote the all-new fancy Game Boy Color.
Voice Range: Low to Medium-high
Traits: Powerful, Placid, Supportive
Welcome, Link. I admire you for coming this far. I will give you the power of color.
Red for offense, blue for defense. Which do you choose?
A crocodile (or is he an alligator?) who works as an artist out of Animal Village. He seems to be written in a French accent, except for that second audition line where I swear it's German. Considering his brother Sale has a standard speech pattern, I am fully okay with him being a clearly faking poseur.
Voice Range: Low to Medium-high
Traits: Artistic, Engrossed
Ya, I am Schule Donavitch! Zee mermaid statue by zee bay iz my masterpiece! … To tell you zee truth, zis werk iz not complete!
Ach! Vat are you looking at vith zat magnifying lens? Stop it at vonce!
Christine is a dignified goat (yep, you read that right) who has been trying to reply to Mr. Write as his pen pal, or maybe something more...? She's hiding the species difference from him so it's really only creepy on her end.
Voice Range: Medium to High, goat-like encouraged without going over-the-top.
Traits: Snobbish, Mannerly, Infatuated
You don’t know the proper etiquette when dealing with a lady, do you? You should have brought flowers or something, then I might be more inclined to talk with you…
You know, sometimes I can’t help eating a delicious piece of paper, even if it’s a letter to my darling Mr. Write… How embarrassing!
A cook in Animal Village who happens to a very non-threatening bear. Has a friendly, colloquial way of speaking.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Congenial, Sensible
Rik’m rak’m! I ran out of ingredients! If I had honey, I could make this fit for a king!
Hi ho! Yeah, I know, that tub of goo is asleep right in the way to Yarna Desert! Once he’s asleep he won’t budge for a loooooonng time. But hey! Take Little Marin and wake him up with her song!
Martha is a mermaid who seems overly distressed that she lost her necklace. But considering it was supposed to be her swimming top, maybe she's not that irrational after all...
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium
Traits: Elegant, Frantic, Proud
When I was swimming in the bay, the waves took a very important necklace from around my neck! If you find it, I will let you take a scale from my tail!
An artist once asked me to pose for him, and he wanted a scale, too… Can the legend of the Magnifying Lens be true…?
Mamu is a professional performer who understands the importance of not working for free (when it isn't a not-for-profit fandub at least...). He looks like Wart from Mario 2 because he IS Wart from Mario 2, the team just directly translated the name instead of checking the localization. He is not antagonizing in this game, however.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Hospitable, Presumptuous
Ribbit! Ribbit! I’m Mamu, on vocals! But I don’t need to tell you that, do I? Everybody knows me! Want to hang out and listen to us jam?
Well, that’s a shame, but we don’t play for free!
The boss of Tail Cave. It's a giant Moldorm of few words.

The boss of Key Cavern. It is also very immature. Bosses these days, I swear...

NEENER NEENER! You can’t find me! NYAH NYAH!
[Dying cry]
A mini-boss in the Color Dungeon. It's oddly helpful about being defeated.

BOO! I am no weakling! Your pitiful sword is no match for me!

Voice Range: Low to Medium-low
Traits: Strong, Unwavering
What a greedy fool! You want more power?! A buffoon like you might as well give up and go home!
[Dying cry]
The boss of the Color Dungeon. The Evil Orb seems to speak in very mechanical, unemotional phrases.

Blue is safe. Yellow is caution. Red is danger.
[Dying cry]
The guardian of the Angler Key. It lives in the desert overworld.
Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Monstrous
Annoyance! You are only getting in the way!
[Dying cry]
The boss of Angler's Tunnel (shocking, right?!!!). Did you know that in nature, anglers that look like this are all females? So by that logic, this should be a female! Considering it's a giant monster, however, she could still be voiced by a male.
Voice Range: Low to Medium-low
Traits: Monstrous, Mindless
BLOOOP! BLOOOP! GLUB! GLUB! OGGGH! FOOOOD! BLOOOOP! GLUB!
[Dying cry]
A pseudo-mini-boss in Catfish's Maw who is moving around the dungeon with the necessary item. And it calls YOU the annoying one...

TSSSK, TSSSK! You don’t ssseem to know what kind of island thisss iss… KEEE-HEEE-HEEE! What a fool… KEE-HEE-HEH!!
[Dying cry]
The boss of Face Shrine. Its ridiculing would be more effective if it didn't underestimate you so much.
Do you know the old Nick Jr. mascot in the early 2000s? I always liked to think this was him. Performance choices incorporating that would be nice, but are certainly not required, particularly if it hinders the character.
Voice Range: Open, for incorporating the suggestion Medium-high to High
Traits: Taunting, Powerful
Hey dummy! Need a hint? My weak point is… !! Whoops! There I go, talking too much again…

CRACKLE-FWOOOSH! You're finished! I will never let you play the Instruments of the Sirens!!
C-C-CRACKLE! Why did you come here? If it weren't for you, nothing would have to change! You cannot wake the Wind Fish!
[Dying cry]
The Nightmares are the shape-shifting Final Boss. They're trying to control Koholint Island by keeping the Wind Fish asleep. In fact, they're pretty desperate to keep it that way for some reason. Hmm...
Voice Range: Low to Medium-high
Traits: Influential, Forceful, Angry
We were born of nightmares… To take over this world, we made the Wind Fish sleep endlessly!
We would have been the masters of this place… But you had to come here and disrupt our plans! Heh heh! You can never defeat us!!! Let’s rumble!
[Dying cry]
The Bucket Mouse is on the other end of Ulrira's phone. It's actually a poorly translated programming team joke, but go with what's there.

Voice Range: Low to Medium-low

Voice Range: Medium to High
Traits: Canine, Covetous
Make-up! Jewels! Dresses! I want it all! Sigh… And some new accessories would be nice… Oh! That Ribbon! I need it! Will you trade for my dog food?

Voice Range: Medium-low to Medium-high
Traits: Placid, Supportive
Let's heal your wounds and get rid of all that stress… Close your eyes and relax…
This appears when you put Magic Powder on a Buzz Blob. They talk in odd disjointed phrases. Possibly has a specific accent based on that first line, but I'm very open to which that might be.
Voice Range: Low to Medium-High
Traits: Odd, Enchanted
Hey Mon!
I definitely need it, as soon as possible!
This Moblin is in the first room of the Moblin's Keep. The only thing that makes it special is the fact that it has one line.
Voice Range: Low to Medium
Traits: Monstrous, Aggressive
Ennh? Who’s this suspicious-looking runt?! Okay boys, let’s get ridda him!
The leader in the Moblin's Keep and largest Moblin who fights with arrows and his size. He kidnapped BowWow for... uh... ...Huh.

Yarna Desert? There’s a way to get there to the south, but you might not be able to get through if that lazy walrus is in the way!
Another Rabbit who is usually hanging out near Christine's house. Has one REALLY long line, and another short weird one. Or two, I'm still finalizing some of the script aspects...

Hey! Did ya know Animal Village and Mabe Village are sister cities? Yes, even though they aren’t large enough to be called cities… Anyway, I heard from a very good source that they have a Dream Shrine in Mabe, and that it has something good inside… Is that true?

Go away!

Chickens these days don’t have the fighting spirit they used to! In the old days, they could fly, flap flap! But now, see? Cluck cluck!
A hard-to-see Zora living in Animal Village. This was back when Zoras were just annoying water enemies, not a civilized race of water guardians, just to explain why that's notable. It's certainly paving the way for Ruto, though...

Goriya's lines tend to trail off and don't give off much confidence. It can only be seen with the Magnifying Lens, and has a very specific optional trade. Do it, make every other weapon in a Zelda game seem inferior and disappointing. And for the love of the goddesses, don't buy another shovel...
