Lakeside Magic Cram Trailer
Project Overview
Lakeside Magic Cram is a story about Damien, a student at Lakeside Cram school of magic. A typical animated high school comedy story, expect childish antics and mildly over-the top performance.
This casting call is for the trailer only. At this time we are not planning on producing this as an actual show, it's more of a way to work out the kinks of a new production company and act as a proof of concept. If the decision is made at a later time to produce an actual series based on this idea, the voice actors chosen for the trailer will be contacted and offered the roles before any additional casting calls are made. Payment will be made through Paypal once all lines are delivered and quality checked. You may be asked to re-record up to two times for no additional compensation if quality or performance are not satisfactory.
The microphone or setup you use is not important, as long as you can achieve the minimum quality requirements:
- 192kbps or higher constant bit rate (16- or 24-bit) mono track, delivered as high-quality .wav file
- Sample rate 44.1 kHz or higher
- Noise floor below -55dB
- Peak values below -3dB
- No effects, filters, noise reduction, or compression on the final files - you can play with it on the audition, but let our audio guys do the editing for the final product so there's consistent sound
- No sounds except your voice (no cars, air conditioner, dogs barking, accidentally punching the wall because you're in character, etc)

Damien is the main character, but also has few lines in the trailer. He is smart, witty, charming, but a little oblivious and his confidence rests in his image which is easily broken when his sister arrives at school. His voice is mid-range and young sounding.
Slightly flustered but very flattered by two girls asking to hang out with him:
"Maybe later"
Happy in a disinterested way (because he kind of expected it) at receiving another A+ on an exam:
"Hey, alright!"
*Quiet, understated snoring for about 5 seconds*
Cayden is Damien's little sister. She is a tad abusive and clingy, but absolutely adores and idolizes her brother. She is starting her first year at Lakeside this year. Her voice should be excited and over the top, but any inflection or pitch could work.
Excited and happy, with a little hint of manic energy. Said just after hitting her brother with a bolt of magic as a greeting (think something along the lines of Yang from RWBY):
"Hey Damien!"
*Make a smitten noise as Cayden clings to her brother's arm in the hallway*
Leo is a typical jock who doesn't like Damien. He has a gruff, deep voice for a teenager, but no refinement in his voice. He sounds like a typical dumb jock bully.
Annoyed, planning to harm Damien in some way with his buddies:
"We're going to get that guy."
Disgusted and contemptuous but still mocking, watching Cayden cling to Damien's arm:
"Dude, and I thought I had it bad"
Eli is Damien and Cayden's father. Should have a mid to deep voice with some warmth and caring to it.
Parental, very light admonishment:
"Be nice, Damien."
Delilah is Damien and Cayden's mother. Her voice should be mid range and not sound too young.
Parental, very light admonishment:
"Now be nice, Damien"
Cassie is a student who shares classes with Damien. She views Damien as a potential love interest. Her voice is open to interpretation, but she should sound like someone who views themselves as reasonably popular, yet absolutely overshadowed by Damien.
Confident and flirtatious, with a tiny hint of apprehension at being rejected because she is absolutely smitten:
"Hey Damien, want to come over?"
Surprised to see Cayden's influence on Damien, finding it a little humorous, but still said more to praise Cayden than to mock Damien:
"I've never seen someone get a beat on you Damien!"
*Give a long "he's so dreamy" type sigh*
Rachel is a classmate of Damien's. She has a crush on Damien, though not quite to the degree of some other girls. She finds Cayden to be the cutest thing ever and treats her almost like a little sister/best friend. Her voice is open to interpretation.
Watching Damien walk away:
*give a long "he's so dreamy" type sigh, then pause*
"He is so dreamy"
While meeting Cayden, just prior to scooping her up in a big hug:
"Isn't she cute!"
Annoyed with Damien and defending Cayden:
"Can't you be nice to her Damien?"
