Two roles still do not have auditions for them. As a result, the deadline has been moved back for two weeks so that all roles may have at least a single audition
Kuni no Senso [EPISODE 10 & OVA 1-2 VAS; CREW CASTING CALL]
Project Overview
Kuni no Senso is a 10-episode original series with two OVAs. It is also my most ambitious work yet. I consider it to be a work that is monumental in its attention to detail and amazing writing. This casting call will be used to determine which auditions are chosen. Only auditions posted on here will be considered.
The main story goes as follows:
Yukan Kenshi is a 15-year-old boy who has an amazing life with his beautiful girlfriend Ite Daitan, a loving family, and a career as a composer. However, his life is turned upside down when Kunshu Mujihina, the ruler of the nearby country Aotoshi, destroyed his house, killed his entire family, and ordered his henchmen to beat him mercilessly and leave him for dead. After Ite and Yukan are taken in by a 14-year-old Kadaina Meiji, they begin a journey of vengeance. Eventually Yukan finds the Omega Blade, a sword that gives the wielder ludicrous powers.
Requirements for casting:
- Decent quality microphone. Please do not audition if you're using a phone mic or a headset mic. USB microphones are fine, but you must send raw audio or noise cancelled audio. DO NOT SEND AUDIO WHERE YOU CUT ALL SOUND WHEN NOT SPEAKING! XLR microphones are preferred, however.
- You must be over 14 years of age. The series contains incredibly graphic moments and swear words throughout, so this also applies to any who are uncomfortable with that. If you plan on auditioning for a role, but you're not comfortable with profanity, then feel free to ask me if the character has swear words in the series.
Note: Just because a role says that the character is in a certain age group does not require you to be in that age group. However, it does mean that you must be able to convincingly sound as if you were in that age group with consistency (for example, Lanya Kenshi is listed as "Child", but if you can sound like a child convincingly then it doesn't matter whether you're a genuine child or not.) Also, any roles listed here are solely for Episode 10 and the two OVA episodes. We will not recast after these episodes are recorded unless a VA leaves. Any auditions posted on May 24th, 2020 will not be considered unless a recast is necessary.

Deadline pushed back to May 10th

Oji Kenshi is Yukan's great-grandfather. He was the original wielder of the Omega Blade and he fought alongside Kawata in the Great Trifecta War. He is portrayed as more serious than his comrade.
His tone of voice should be roughly a low-tenor voice. It should also have a slight gritty quality to it.

*talking about your best friend chum pal buddy friend* I’d call him my brother any day. He usually has my back, I guess today he was still a little hung over

Kawata Mujihina is Kunshu's grandfather. He was the original wielder of the Alpha Blade and he fought alongside Oji Kenshi in the Great Trifecta War. He is much more witty and lighthearted than his comrade.
His voice should be a mid-tenor in tone with a slight English accent.
*introducing yourself* Lighten up a little, kid. My name's Kawata and that’s my grumpy ex pen pal, Oji. He’s had a stick stuck up his ass since he was a wee boy.
*questioning someone's business* What are you doing here anyway? Are you some sort of merchant? Exotic dancer?
*actually serious for once in his life* Indeed we did. Now that we have these weapons, our future is determined.

Dokusai Mujihina

Dokusai Mujihina is Kunshu's father. He teaches Kunshu that his legacy is world conquest, as that was what he was taught by his father, Kawata Mujihina.
His voice should be rather gruff and low with only the slightest hint of a British accent. Think if an emo teen grew up and got too close to a testosterone nuke. An alternative voice that I heard in my head was also similar to Tony Jay as Judge Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Don't ask me why, it just happened.

*rather sadistic mentoring* It’s not possible to succeed without bending the rules to your desires.
*bickering even while on your deathbed* Open your fucking eyes you dillweed. Clearly I’m not doing too well.

Lanya Kenshi is Yukan's daughter that appears in the final episode of the main series. She is the oldest of the two kids and she is more of a realist than her brother Musuko.
PRONUNCIATION NOTE: Kadaina is pronounced kuh-DIE-nah and Shirei is pronounced as SHEE-ray.
*ridiculing immaturity* Ninjas don't exist! This is clearly a story dad made up! I mean, they were fighting with wings like a bunch of bats!

Emperor Kral was the ruler over Aotoshi during the Great Trifecta War before his throne was usurped by Kunshu. He is a considerate ruler, closer to King Yokina than he was to Kunshu.

Zeronius Kantoku II

Zeronius Kantoku II is the father of Zenpan Imoru. When he was 39 years old, he discovered and heavily researched a rare metal known as garnium, which gathered him much fame and notoriety in The Unkempt. Like all other Maili, Zero II is immortal. He is largely benevolent, as are most Maili due to a lack of need for conflict and very strong moral compass.
His voice should be a very calm tone for the most part.
*explaining something for the umpteenth time* We are the only suppliers of garnium. It’s very important for Akuni and Aotoshi if they stand any chance in the war.
*pep talk time* Zero, you’ll learn that humans are stubborn. Very stubborn and someday you’ll find yourself helping them out.

Seyun Wakeru is Oji Kenshi's wife, Sofu's mother, and Yukan's great-grandmother. She was a Medikai native and was part of the reason why Oji and Kawata drifted apart from one-another.
This character requires two different voices. The first take of each line should be a rather young sounding character, about 21 years old. The second take would be an older tone, about equivalent to a 63-year-old.
*making a speech* Today is a very special day. A generational vow to be taken by this young man.

Luna Lockwood
A prophet in the Zero OVA. She manages to correctly predict the events of the main series in her appearance. She is a rather mysterious figure that we only see once. She has a rather bizarre aura surrounding her and not much is known about her personal life.
Her voice should have a trance-like quality to it. Perhaps she speaks with a lower tone than normal.
*with an ominous feel* Oji and Kawata. Come take a seat.
*foreseeing a future* Two men, close as brothers, will find themselves in a dispute over a foreign lady whom many would fight for her hand in marriage. A fair maiden of her motherland.

Sofu Kenshi is Yukan Kenshi's grandfather. He only appears for a short while in the Kunshu OVA before dying. This is not a plot twist, guys. It's literally part of the main lore for the series as told in Episode 1.

If you want to work as a composer on Kuni no Senso, then link a portfolio to any music you have written, be it a Soundcloud account, a YouTube playlist, a page on IMSLP, or whatever. The style I'd recommend sending in if you plan on working on the show is film scoring, classical, or some other form of orchestral music since that will be the primary style of the music in the series.
NOTE: Most of the music done on this show is done through a musical notation software, so I recommend that, if you audition, you are either familiar with standard musical notation software like Muse Score or some sort of program like FL Studio
