He is a depicted as a high school boy who often conjures up weird, and often perverted, thoughts in his mind, with Haruka describing him as such. He is also a bit of a dimwit, having an easy-to-read and transparent mind. He loves teasing Haruka by showing her perverted images in his mind with her mind-reading abilities. However, he is also a caring person who is easy-going and very friendly, shown when he was willing to befriend Haruka even though she was labeled as a freak by his other classmates

At first, she was shown as a person who wants to use Haruka in order to prove the existence of psychic abilities. Later, it was shown that deep down, she has a caring side and was angered at the fact that Haruka was being bullied by Hiyori, blaming herself for the one who persuaded Haruka to do fortune-telling and apologized to her. She is also a very lively person and a bit bossy, often shown when she does not hesitate to drag other people to the club room in order to try and persuade them to join, to the point that she locks the door to prevent Yoshihisa and Haruka from escaping the club room when they entered there for the first time.

He is shown as a generally serious person. He tends to just "go with the flow", obediently following Yuriko's orders and is neutral when it comes to his opinion about Yuriko's actions. He is also a good listener. He seems to have a prankster personality as in he made Kotoura feel uneasy when he imagined her tied up to a table and him saying, "I always wanted to dissect a psychic."

Kumiko's motivations are hard to understand. In her words, she is, "A weak mother." She pushes her daughter away, partly out of anger and partly because she does not feel that she is prepared to be her mother. She used to be a happy-go-lucky woman who was overenthusiastic about life. But when raising Haruka proved difficult due to her supernatural ability to read minds and her husband gradually ceased to come home, she buckled under the pressure. She became openly bitter, and due to her drinking in the final episode we learn that she is an alcoholic.
