About Into The Woods Casting Call (Voice Actors/Singers, Sound Engineers and Artists/Animators/Video Editors Needed)

Welcome to the audition page for Into the Woods! I'm glad you've found your way here.

This is one of my favorite musicals, and I assume if you're here you love it too, or have heard of it and want to know more about it. I'd love to make a virtual musical out of it, and thought this would be the best place to start. I am doing this for fun, so all positions that are open are strictly volunteer, no payment is being given to anyone for being involved in this project. All roles and positions are open at this time. This project is only involving recording/performing the songs in the show, so the scenes will not be included. Therefore, the roles listed are only roles that are noted in the songs, so some characters are not listed. Before you go off and audition, there are a few rules:

    1. 1. Content: This is a show that has many mature themes. So before you audition, PLEASE READ A SYNOPSIS. I would really prefer not to recast someone because they found issues with the content after casting has been made. There is no age limit, but there are only two roles I'd consider casting children in (children being defined as 12 or younger) and that would be for Little Red and Jack. However, my preference is to cast people who are older but can sound young (teenagers and younger adults).
    2. 2. Communication/Commitment: If you want to be involved in this project, please either have or make a Discord. It's really easy to use and it helps me keep everything in one spot, rather than a million different places. Also, you don't have to be around all the time, but please make an effort to the role you audition for, and perhaps be given in the casting process. If you're struggling with this, please contact me.
    3. 3. Audition Time: Please honor the maximum time/bar limit I've laid out for every piece. I get you want to show me all your abilities, and if I need to hear more from you, I'll let you know. This is because I do have other responsibilities, so if everyone sends in a 10 minute audition, casting will take forever. Then that stresses both myself, others auditioning, and most likely you out in anticipation for casting decisions. Therefore, I'd appreciate if you'd count/time out your selection. Casting will go faster that way. ;)
    4. 4. Mic Quality: This one I don't care about as much, but try to make your audition sound the best it can with the equipment you have currently. Also, since Sondheim is very difficult, singing acapella is probably better than trying to follow a track, and I can hear your voice better.
    5. 5. Attitude: Please be nice to each other. it's vulnerable to put yourself out there during an audition, and a negative environment makes it even worse. Also, how you treat others here WILL affect your own casting. Even if you have the best audition, if I see you being rude or negative to other people's auditions and work, you will NOT be cast. Period. No one wants to work with a jerk.
    6. 6. Experience: I'm definitely looking for people strong and confident in their abilities. For roles specifically, I want people who are able to act and sing. If you're new for any of these, give it a try! If you're nervous at all because you're new at acting/sing/creative side, please reach out to me. It's my first experience as a director on this site, and I want to give everyone equal opportunity.
    7. 7. HAVE FUN!!!! This is really important, I want you to be proud of the work you put up here, and feel you did your best, and had some fun too.

It looks like I am only having this open for a week, but that is not true, I am doing this because I want to keep it up at the top to gain as much notice as possible, as I am a new director. The date that I am closing auditions officially is July 1st or when all roles are filled (whichever comes first).

Please feel free to audition for any role. The ages and genders out there are just guidelines based on previous/typical casting. Gender-bending and auditioning for roles outside your "age range" is completely allowed (unless you are 12 and under, in which case, please see Rule #1).

And I think that covers everything. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know, and I'll be happy to address them. Otherwise, if everything above makes sense and you want to be apart of this project, go "Into the Woods" and audition! Break a leg to everyone, and I'm excited to see what you bring to the table!
