Homestuck the Musical
Project Overview
Voice Actor
The main character of homestuck the musical. John is a young, energetic, teen, full of gusto for life. He controls the central story and makes friends along the way. As he is the main character, he probably has more screentime (songtime?) than any other character in the musical. His voice should sound energetic and youthful, and he should sing tenor.

Voice Actor
Rose is John Egbert's best friend and the secondary lead in Homestuck the musical. She goes through a few phases, from evil-goth-girl to totally-badass lesbian. She's a bit goth (though please don't make her sound overly so) very intelligent, and has a fondness for writing. She sings at a Mezzo or Alto level.

Dave is, of course, the fan-favorited utter "coolkid" of Homestuck. He is extremely hung up on being "cool," or "suave," but his coolness is often a mask that hides his insecurities. He should sound cool, but please not monotone. He sings at a baritone/tenor level. The actor who plays Dave will also play Davesprite, and will contribute to the part of Davepeta, either by voice mixing or splitting the part.
Sing a song you think fits this character! Some Excellent choices would be "One song Glory" from RENT or "Bring him home" From Les Miserables. Any song will be accepted as long as it is a musical theatre song.

Jade is John's ectosister and a large lead of Homestuck: The Musical. She is full of energy and lightheartedness, though she is also extremely smart. She also loves dogs and gardening. Her voice should sound upbeat and happy consistently. She should have an airy-almost princessy tone, but she doesn't have to be a soprano. The actor who plays Jade will also play Jadesprite.
Sing a song you think fits this character! A good choice would be a modern Disney Princess song, such as one of Anna's or Rapunzel's. Any song will be accepted as long as it's Theatre.

Karkat is the secondary lead of Homestuck the musical, after John. He is the perpetually angry leader of the trolls, hunted by society because of his mutant status. The Actor should, however, be able to be caring and kind as well, albeit a bit grumpy. His voice is a bit hard to describe, but it shouldn't be overly raspy. If you go search canibleGato on youtube, that's actually something very close to what I'm looking for. His voice should still sound appealing to the ears. Please do not sing Karkalicious for your audition song. He sings at a Tenor range.

Aradia goes from alive to dead a few times. Overall, though, she's sweet, bubbly, and has a gusto for DEATH. The actor should be versatile, able to sound overly excited, pretty monotone, and even robotic at times, since she's a robot for a while. I'm not overly picky about Aradia's voice type-I could be sold on anything.
Sing a Song you think fits this character! A good suggestion would be "Think of me" From Phantom or "Candy Store" from heathers (depending on your voice type.) Any song is accepted as long as it is a Theatre-style song.

Tavros is the cowardly paraplegic troll who learns a lot about courage as the comic goes on. He is shy and quiet and speaks with a bit of a stutter, and should be endearing to the audience. He sings at a tenor range.

Nepeta is full of energy and loves cats, her friends, and shipping! She has a youthful sounding voice, almost like a young child. I'm not too picky about her voice type, but she should sound bouncy and bubbly. Nepeta rolls her r's when she speaks and often divulges into purring and other cat-like sounds!

Kanaya is kind, caring, nurturing, and motherly. She's also a badass vampire Lesbian. Her accent doesnt have to be English, but it should be posh sounding. She sings in a soprano tone and should sound powerful at times, but I'd prefer her not to belt.

Terezi is funny, witty, and has a longing for Justice. Blind Justice, that is, as she is blind. She's also extremely courageous, and suffers many hardships on her journey. Her voice should sound slightly raspy and slightly nasally, but not too much of either. Still appealing to the ears as she has a few ballads. Ignore everything youtube voice actors have taught you. She should sing at an Alto-Mezzo range.

Vriska the tertiary lead of Homestuck the Musical, after John and Karkat. She is courageous, driven, and determined to drive the team to success. She has a good heart, but can at times (most of the time) be a huge bitch. She sings at a mezzo range and should definitely be a strong belter.

Voice Actor
Equius is STRONG, driven, and a good supportive friend of Nepeta. He is smitten with Aradia though he looks down on the lower class and strictly abides by social classes. He is kind but stubborn. He sings in a bass range and should have a deep, powerful, voice.

Gamzee goes from being perpetually stoned to batshit insane, so his actor must have a lot of diversity. In the beginning he is happy and carefree, a total stoner with family issues. Then he snaps and goes on a murderous rampage, becoming one of the main villains of the comic. He should be able to sound carefree and evil flawlessly. He sings at a baritone/bass range.
Sing a song you feel appropriate for this character! Any song will be accepted as long as it's musical theatre, but that one Jekyll and Hyde one (you know the one I'm talking about) would be great. Otherwise I'd like to hear two, one for Sopor and one for Sober, etc.

Eridan is egotistical, posh, and super desperate, most of the time. He's infatuated with a girl who dumps him for someone else, which makes him beyond enraged. His accent doesn't have to be British, but it should sound posh. Please, make him sound regal. Any actor who tries to make Eridan sound like octopimp will not be considered. He sings at a diverse range.

Think: Ultimate Disney Princess! Feferi is a princess herself, and is bubbly, happy, and glad to be ruling. She can also be cold and manipulative at times, but she keeps a cheerful attitude. She sings soprano and should be able to hit some very high notes.

Jane is John's counterpart, and one of the second-half leads of the musical. She's quite absent for most of the first half of the musical, but she leads the kids that enter second. She's plucky and energetic, with a whim for baking. She also turns evil at one point however, so please keep that in mind. I'm not super picky about her voice type, but it should sound youthful and energetic.

Though absent throughout the first half of the musical, Roxy becomes a lead in the second half and eventually defeats the villainess herself. She is often portrayed as a dumb drunk, but please don't voice her that way. She is smart and kind, and has a huge heart. She can sound a bit ditsy, but you shouldn't slur her voice. She sings at a mezzo range.
Sing a song you think would fit this character! ANY of Roxie Hart or Elle Woods' songs make an excellent choice, but any song is accepted as long as it's in a theatre style!

Dirk is absent for the first half, but becomes a major lead in the second half. He's cool, suave, and determined, with a personality that's headstrong and stubborn. He also does quite a bit of rapping, so please be proficient in that. He sings in a strong baritone register.
Sing any song you think appropriate! Good choices would be "One Song Glory" (RENT) and anything from ITH or Hamilton.

Jake English is, well, English, and the actor MUST portray him with an English accent.
