Handa-Kun Abridged
Project Overview
Set six years prior to the events ofBarakamon, detailing the life of Handa Seishuu as a high school student—and a very interesting life it is.
InHanda-kun, Handa is admired by his peers as a calligraphy genius and given the utmost respect, but Handa-kun himself is under the mistaken impression that the deference and attention he receives from the other students is actually bullying. Handa just wants to live a quiet life, but hilarity ensues as one character after another challenges his position as the school idol, and somehow comes away as a fan all while Handa is horrified and clueless.
For those auditioning, please read the rules and expectations below:
-Be able to dictate well, and have a good/great quality microphone.
-Work well with others in a group setting.
-Have Skype and/or Discord. (Discord preferably)
-Be readily available within a day's notice. Notifications will be sent out for group readings or auditions.
-Be humble/respectable with other cast members, and the role you were assigned.
- Be able to actively take direction with grace.

Kondou Yukio is a normal high-school student, who performs average in academics and sports, with few but good friends. During cooking class, he ends up in the same group as Handa and his "followers," who have scary rumors. Kondou ends up as part of the "handa-otaku," as he likes to refer it.
For inspiration, think of that rational character who dampens your hopes and dreams with logic. He keeps the group of otaku down to earth and thinking rationally, sometimes to the ire of his friends.
(Disbelief) Like what, exactly? I can't even tell because the art is so bad..
(Skeptical) I don't know what you guys were going for, but it's not going through at all. Did you draw this, Reo? (Pronouced Ray-oh)
What? They believed us? But we're not even a real organization-- how did they find our address to send this to us? Even Handa does know about this club so it wasn't him! *guh*
(In this line, a hand is placed on his shoulder. Reactive guh sound)
Junichi had been the class rep for all the 10 years of his school for his excellent sense for leadership. He leads in the production of a fan anime after his idol, Handa-kun. Together his other 3 friends, they create an anime befitting their idol. For inspiration, think of a high-schooler anime otaku. He's passionate about his idol and hobbies, and would die to defend the honor of his favorite shows.
Preferably a higher medium voice. He's one of the main roles.
(Smug, informational) Anyway, everyone here is forgetting that Handa is a calligrapher.. I bet he can get an invite to the expo even without an anime~!
(Passionate, motivated) Disgusting! We should've watched it together lying hand in hand-- and you call yourselves the Handa Force..!?
(Interrupting, slightly annoyed) Hey, watch! Handa is about to stand up! It's a very moving scene...
Leo was the target of all the girls due to his good looks and working as a model.
When tailing Handa to find out his secret of popularity Leo ends up being misunderstood by Handa and being pitied by him, for which he thinks Handa is a pure guy.
He's a little flamboyant, but overall much more level-headed than the other Handa-otaku. For his lines, a small bit of sass goes a long way.
(Mischievious) Manly anime is way outta style, they don't make that crap anymore!
(Daydreaming) Isn't it obvious? It'll be a modern romance for cool and fashionable people like me. And everyone will have super long noodle limbs~
(Factual) You may not get it, but they'll love it in France! You know, 'cause fashion and stuff.
In the past, Tsutsui had similar proportions to a girl, for which he was constantly bullied by his classmates, hence he became a truant.
After shutting himself indoors he came to realize he was "lacking power" and got a muscle band.
Due to all the misunderstood rumors, some delinquents, that had come to take revenge on Akane, recognized Handa and fled, hence Akane Tsutsui became Handa's SP "Security Police/ Security Personnel".
This guy is your typical rough and rowdy kind of character. He's got a deeper voice than the rest. Think of a gangster gone soft for further inspiration.
(Thinking aloud) If these anime guys are such chumps, their show probably sucked balls anyway.
(Angry, screaming) WE POURED OUR HEARTS AND SOULS INTO THIS! WHAT D'YOU KNOW!
(curious) What the hell is this? *Gasp!* It's from the studio that made the other Handa anime!!
She's a loud and boisterous winglady of Maiko. Often made fun of for her big head and boorish looks, but she's actually pretty sweet and a great cook. All bark but no bite.
(Angry, screaming) Aaagh! Rude! What's your deal, Handa!? Someone gives you a love letter and you throw it away without even LOOKING at it?! Maiko was up all night writing that JUST FOR YOU! Do you have any decency at all!?
Maybe I was a bit harsh before, but there's no need for him to just stare at me like that! What does he even want??
(angry, thinking) Now that I think about it, have I ever really liked this girl? Have I had fun with her even once?? (calmly, to Maiko) Hey, quick question.. Why exactly is it that you hang out with me anyway? You could probably make more popular friends and cuter ones too..
She's pretty soft-spoken at first, and initially very timid. But when alone or with Judy, she's actually pretty mean and often brings Judy down with a smile. High-pitched voice preferred.
(Whimpering, crying) Judy, please don't do this..!!~
Did you bring your lunchbox today? Oh, wow!! Those are so cute!! Like pearls before swine!
Cmon! Why would you think tsomething like that, don't be silly! Standing next you makes me look super pretty, I couldn't imagine haveing a friend that was cuter than me~
A calligrapher who disgraced himself by punching a director of an art gallery who criticized his calligraphy style heavily as "boring," "rigid," "academic," and "bland. He's the protagonist of the anime's anime. A lot of his lines are expressed inwardly, and is often misunderstood by those around him.
He's kind of ignorant of how people really feel about him, instead thinking everyone hates him or is out to fight him.
(Smugly, to himself) Naturally , everyone's glaring at me again. Don't worry, we're not friends. It's fine. Really-- it's fine.
(Defeated) Ugh, dammit.. Look's like these girl's really have it out for me! There's no escape... there's only two ways this can go. One-- I'm surrounded by a gang of girls and they trash-talk me into the ground. Or two-- her boyfriend is the leader of a scary band and they beat the crap outta me behind a factory or however that works...!
I chose my words very carefully so there was no way they could possibly misunderstand.. I'll meet with that girl and we'll settle things without causing that big of an incident.. what could go wrong?
