Project Overview
What is Going Nowhere: A fiction mystery podcast that is available on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, and Podbean. Focuses on the town of Nowhere, Indiana, and the protagonist, Meg Bliss, who is attempting to unravel and understand the town's complicated history. Addresses what happens when a community is isolated and how much of our behavior is taught. Feel free to listen to the trailer to get an understanding for the tone!
Who Am I: Writer, voice actor, and sound editor for Going Nowhere. Able to meet deadlines well, work with others around their schedules, and a friendly face and voice!
Payment: I'm a student. I barely have any money to pay my tuition and am making this podcast for the sake of submitting a story to the world that people may find, relate to, and can distract from everything happening in the world. I cannot pay you, but you will be given full social media plugs ect.

CASTING UPDATE
Hello to all! First and foremost, thank you all so much for your support for this podcast and taking time to lend your talents to these auditions. I loved getting to listen to all the auditions, and hear your takes of these characters. At this time, all roles have been casted and confirmed. If you have any questions as to audition feedback, my messages are open. I hope you will continue following the project as we move into production and prepare to launch Part I of the story of Nowhere this spring!
Oliver Davis is a co-worker of Meg (protagonist) at the local donut shop in Nowhere, IN. Never too interested in her side projects, he finds himself coming to her with story about the recent bout of sleep paralysis he's been experiencing... Tends to be exhausted and patient with people, though otherwise he acts rushed. (Featured narrator in one episode)
You really don’t have to make that much of it. I’ve read about sleep paralysis – I understand that what I’m seeing isn’t going to hurt me. (A sigh and a change of perspective) Have to say, the first night it happened I nearly shit myself.
It’s always a man – the same man – standing in my room. He’s middle aged, a bit shabby looking… and stands with a hunch, shaking, never looking directly at me. And I can’t move my arms or legs but my eyes are open and I have to watch as blood pours out of his eyes, his ears, his nose, and his mouth.
(Extremely dehydrated and sleep-deprived) I lied. I’m sorry, I lied to you. I don’t even know if you can help me, but you’re the only one who I’ve told about that man and now… I think I might die, Meg.
*Character is non-binary, female presenting in voice
Ellie Novak is the person in Nowhere closest to Meg. A best friend and possible love interest, Ellie is a worker at the Museum of Nowhere. She tends to be matter-of-fact and a fake sort of sociable, except with Meg, who she tends to be a bit more open and kind with. They bonded over historical mysteries and are now the only two that can stand each other for an extended period of time.
Hey, Meg – it looks like your theory about the cellar of the museum being part of the old foundation was correct. I finally had the closing shift last night, so I went down and – oh. (Flustered) Sorry - I didn’t realize you were recording – your mom said I could just come in – I’m sorry.
I… I don’t really know why I’m so involved. I mean, don’t get me wrong. History is great – I’m a junior member of the Nowhere Historical Society – why wouldn’t I like history. But I’m fine with it the way it is. Meg’s not like that. When she looks at those stories, it’s more than just dates and names on a page. They’re puzzle pieces; polaroids of people’s lives that she’s desperately trying to fit within each other. I think she’s hoping that when she stands back, it’ll all make one big picture that finally makes sense. (She goes quiet) It doesn’t make a lot of sense, Charlie. At this point in my life, I’ve accepted that not a lot of things do. I just hope Meg can accept it too.
Scottie Walker is one of Meg's friends, and a local student at the Brentwood Area Community College. He's a true crime junkie, and tends to be a little high energy for both Meg and Ellie; still his pluckiness makes him invaluable to help out. (Featured in multiple episodes, but not as much as Ellie)
Honestly, I thought we would have something by now. Like, I've seen footage about the Arthur Grayson hauntings - muddy footprints, footsteps, and weird noises – I don’t ask for much! But nooo. I’ve been camped out here with cold coffee, a crumbly Nature Valley bar, and you guys since the sun set. And not even a spectral orb on my camera.
You’re full of it. Hope you know that. Aw yeah, I am. Too bad I’m one of three people in all of Nowhere that doesn’t have their head up their ass. Now, pass me that flashlight; I’m going to take a look around. If I don’t find anything, I’m personally marching to Ol’ Archie’s grave and demanding back the time I’ve lost here.
Mysterious. Slightly threatening. Slightly disillusioned and sarcastic. Works for town hall. Dislikes spiders. (Featured in one episode)
Never did like spiders. Nasty things. Too many legs, too many eyes-
Just promise me you’ll get that thing out of the room. Bad enough that people have started asking questions. Never did like questions.
Not really. I think he genuinely believed he would be able to coast through, until all of this was at its end – whatever that end is – without a single question mark uttered from the mouths of Nowhere’s citizens. A real shame, and a damned stupid move on his part. But oh well, I suppose. Nothing we can really do about it.
Mysterious. Slightly threatening. Highly disillusioned and sarcastic. Works for town hall. Has been noticing many spiders lately. (Featured in one episode)
(Sarcastically) Oh, you’re so clever, so very clever, aren’t you? No. I just mean that… Well, you know what I mean?
You know, sometimes I really consider my career choices.
You said it yourself. What are we working towards? Is it just this indefinitely? I just can’t escape the feeling that I’m trapped in a bigger web of something I don’t understand - or maybe it's something worst.
Charlie Lyle is Meg's older cousin, who tends to get after her when her parents don't. Deemed as 'eccentric' by Meg's parents and does cultivate a 'witchy' aesthetic, but she is not someone to be messed with and the only brain cell of the entire podcast.
Meg, you know this isn’t some little personal hobby. This is your friggin’ corkboard, with a red string strung between dead, dusty names on pieces of paper. You think I don’t know that you stole Uncle James’ things? Listen, I know your mom works, and bouncing between your dads’ and your moms’ sucks ass. But if you don’t grow up, right now, people who are not as understanding are going to start noticing. And it’ll be a rude awakening to the fact that your actions have consequences.
Ellie, hold up for a second! There’s something on the ground back hear in the passage. Looks like a playing card. (Picks it up) Nevermind, too big to be a playing card! (Pause) Wait a minute. This is from my tarot deck… How the hell did a card from my deck…(Pause, With a dry, closing throat) It’s The Tower. I haven’t seen this card since – (A realization) We have to get out of these tunnels.
*the only character that can have a Southern accent
Mayor Grayson has been mayor for longer than anyone can remember... and he'd like it to remain that way. Cold, mysterious, powerful.
(A cool sort of angry) The only reason I’m not pressing legal charges against you is because your grandpap helped this community in more ways then you know. You and your father, on the other hand, are nothing but a disturbance. The people don’t want your stories. You’re digging up grave dirt, with no one to lend you an ear but the dead themselves. And even then, you probably won’t like what they say. So be a good girl and keep your nose out of matters that aren’t any of your concern. Let history stay history, Meg Bliss, of you’re going to find yourself on the wrong side of it.
