Get Off My Shoulder Podcast [Voice Actors and Editors Needed!]
Project Overview
Yep, I'm back. The making of episode one was a wild ride, but here we are. Hopefully you're ready for more. If not, you could always go check it out? The link is listed under my previously completed work.
Now, let's start from square one.
I'm the creator of a YouTube podcast series called Get Off My Shoulder. It is partially a slice of life, supernatural, and comedy all wrapped up into one big wreak of a story. With the pilot episode completed, I'm ready to move along and gather up some additional voice talent for characters that will be appearing in the next few episodes.
Because I get stressed out rather easily, I intend to create an episode every few months or so depending on how long it takes me to do the writing and editing. I don't want it to take as long as it did for the first episode, however, so I'm also looking for some assistant editors who can help me with the audio and video.
Another major announcement I have is that the main character, Clove, is in need of a voice actor again. His original VA had to step down, so the role will be open for auditions as well!
Requirements for Auditioning (Voice Actors)
- Be able to properly express the intended emotion behind every word.
- For each line, speak it several times over in different ways so I can get a sense of your voice.
- Please be fully committed to the project if you so choose to audition.
- You must have a good microphone to use while recording, so no echoing/static-y/muffled audio.
- Be willing to work with me. If I need you to re-record a line in a different way, please don't get offended. Patience is all I ask.
Requirements for Applying (Editors)
- Please have the appropriate editing software (audio/video) depending on which field you specialize in.
- You are allowed to apply for both Video Editor and Audio Editor if you're interested in both!
Warning!
This series contains vulgar language and might potentially include some harsher topics (i.e. depression, suicide, etc.). Although since I, personally, don't take pleasure in going into detail about such things, said subjects will be discussed moderately and with respect.
As for information regarding the storyline, here is the basic plot.
Have you ever watched those old cartoons where one of the characters is trying to make a decision, and a tiny little angel and demon appear on their shoulders to tell them what to do? Yeah? Well, me neither.
My name is Clove, and thanks to my asshole of a brain, my conscience has become two living, breathing people.
To put it simply, they're annoying as hell.
Words to know!
Companions: Tutelary spirits that exist inside all humans from the moment they are born to the moment they die. Companions originate from a person's soul and guide their emotions by convincing them to do either "good" or "bad" things. They always work in pairs of righteous and iniquitous.
Reliant: A human who hosts a pair of companions. They normally are not aware of their companions' influence.

A tired and moody enby who just wants his companions to leave him alone and isn't afraid to admit it. She doesn't care about pronouns, so they alternate from time to time depending on who is speaking. She's a bit of a loner, and she doesn't have many people to talk to, thus resulting in some implied depression/anxiety. Although he doesn't get much sleep at night because of his companions' bickering, he is secretly grateful for having them around.
Likes: Coffee and sarcasm.
Dislikes: Annoying people and tomatoes.

(Deadpan) "So you're telling me that up until now, I've been housing people inside my body like a host to some parasites. ...Figures."
(Outraged) "Are you seriously ignoring me?!"
(Narration; Increasingly more somber) "Maybe it was just because I wanted to believe them. I wanted to believe that there were people who actually bothered to acknowledge me, to stand up for me, and use /my/ name when no one else would. But then again, this could all be some sick joke: an elaborate prank set up to make the new kid crash and burn. It woudn't have been a surprise. My coffee was cold now."
A cheerful, personable, and talkative girl who's also a major theatre geek. She can and will start a conversation with someone simply because she finds them entertaining. Clove quickly develops a crush on her.
Likes: Musical theatre.
Dislikes: Academic classes.
Voice Notes:
In my head, Beatrice has a younger-sounding voice with a bubbly lilt to it, especially when she babbles. (Not sure if that makes any sense, but take it as you will.)
"God, school is so boring. You know what my /least/ favorite class is--? THE BOURGEOIS! ...What? N-No. Like in Les Mis..."
"Huh, you're an interesting character! I like you!"
(Rambling) "Here are some words of advice for ya! You can tell how well-liked a teacher is by how many penises are drawn around their classroom. If there aren't any, then the teacher's a god. If they're not a god, then be sure to draw your opinion somewhere visible!"
The main antagonist of the series. It is an elusive and mysterious creature who is an inhabitant of Clove's soul. It takes the shape of a bird locked inside a cage. Being smooth-talking and eerily charismatic, it definitely has ulterior motives.
Voice Notes:
I have nothing in mind when it comes to this character's voice other than the fact that its tone must sound alluring.
(Smoothly) "I'm just as much a part of you as those idiots are."
(Somewhat sarcastic) "Oh, don't mind me. I'm just enjoying my time here trapped inside this minimalistic living space."
(Invitingly) "Why not open the cage? I can get rid of them for you."
This job virtually entails making the videos follow the same format as the first episode.
Say something you think would fit
Because this project is a podcast, I'm looking for someone who's confident in their audio abilities since it's so vital to the entire work. The format of the audio would also be the same as the first episode. Applicants should be familiar with finding sound effects (either on YouTube or elsewhere) and adding them alongside the tracks at the appropriate times. Also, please be willing to work with me pretty consistently.
