The Youngest of the Elric Brothers, Alphonse has a very timid voice. He relys mostly on his smarts instead of brute strength. His shy and polite demeanor can often end up getting him into trouble with the wrong people.
#1 "Survival is the only way, Ed. Live on and learn more about alchemy!"
#2 "I am the cursed wormy arm! No, wait… uh… I am the cursed Demon Armor! Once your body has become one with my steel, you will lose all emotion and become a warrior of death, for I will take your soul!"
#3 "I can’t really go into it right now, except to say that… all this “eye for an eye” stuff… it’s never going to work. So, please, stop fighting each other."
Winry Rockbell is a childhood friend of the two main characters and is often revisited due to her current function as Edwards primary mechanic and eventual love interest.
A young but equally wise and level tone, except when she is very emotional.
#1 [crying] "You two won't cry; someone should do it for you, don't you think?"
#2 "Same old Ed. Home for 5 minutes and you're off on another adventure. But you can't go into combat with that arm and leg, can you?"
#3 "If you think I'm a gear-head, that's fine, but you had better get used to it! Because as long as you're wearing my automail, you're stuck with this gear-head whether you like it or not!"
Strong and damaged, Roy Mustang has had a hard life. He looks over his loved ones with a burning passion to protect them. Let all who stand in his way be burned.
#1 "My name is Roy Mustang... Or just Lieutenant Colonel. Hell you can just call the Flame Alchemist. Whatever you do just remember the pain."
#2 "The power of one man doesn't amount to much. But, however little strength I'm capable of... I'll do everything humanly possible to protect the people I love, and in turn they'll protect the ones they love. It seems like the least we tiny humans can do for each other."
#3 "Nothing's perfect. The world's not perfect. But it's there for us, trying the best it can. That's what makes it so damn beautiful."
Riza Hawkeye is the extremely loyal companion and protector of Roy Mustang. Despite her supporting role in the show, she takes every opportunity to demonstrate her advanced capabilities.
#1 "I will follow you into hell if you ask me to."
#2 "Please, try to only be useless on rainy days, ok?"
#3 "I'm sorry to interrupt you major, but let me offer a bit of feminine advice... BABIES AREN'T BORN AFTER JUST FIVE MONTHS!"
After the destruction of his country Scar seeks revenge against those who had harmed and continue to oppress the people of Ishbal descent.
#1 "I am walking down a path of no return, so I will leave behind me every gift I've received from God."
#2 "By clasping your hands, you make an array with your body and circulate the alchemic reaction within. I know your secret, and without this sinful arm you cannot transmute quickly. THAT is your weakness!"
#3 "I am the ooze born from the open gaping wound that was Ishbal. I neither pray to God nor appeal to him. Ooze deserves no forgiveness. And I will burn until I'm left dead in a ditch like the scum that I am."
This is an asshole. Have fun!

Greed is the first homunculi introduced in the series whose initial form is readily destroyed. However, he returns later to act as an ally.
#1 "They don’t call me Greed for nothing! I want money! Women! Status! And power! I want everything this world’s selling and eternity is topping the list! Understand?"
#2 "About 130 years, I’d say. Let me break this down, nice and simple. You can either remain in here as lab rats or you can come with me to bring hell to those above us. Your choice. I’m only asking once!"
#3 "What's happening to me? Wrath?!?! It won't go away! These memories! They won't go away! My head feels like it's going to explode!"
This is a simpleton.

In their youth, Izumi was the tutor for the Elric brothers, fortifying their alchemic knowledge. Later in life she chooses to maintain a simpler lifestyle, independent from her expertise in alchemy.
#1 "You asked what I am? ...A HOUSEWIFE!!!"
#2 "Believe in yourselves and choose life over death. Otherwise, you've led a shameful existence"
#3 "You darling little idiots. It's okay... to cry."
This is slightly less of an asshole. Have fun!
#1 "You've certainly mellowed out... you used to be fun, full of life and emotion. Lust, Greed, Sloth, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, and Pride. Of course, excessive want will destroy anyone, but those same desires are necessary to understand what it means to be human. Why did you rid yourself of them?"
#2 "I thought living forever was nothing but exhausting. But since I met you and our sons, for the first time I felt glad to be alive. It was a full life."
#3 "But we do have a circle. Something with such enormous powers, it would activate on its own, even if something were to happen to me! The shadow of the moon, cast upon the earth by the eclipse!"
This is that neighbor who wasn't a dick and didn't rat you out when you snuck into your house at 3 am. He's cool, bruh. Considering the grim world in which he lives, Maes live a genuinely happy life and doesn't take it for granted.

Thought incredibly friendly, Armstrong is an adept soldier of immense strength and unrivaled eccentricity.
#1 Destruction and creation are two sides of the same coin! You must destroy to create! That is the law of the universe!
#2 "How dare you speak to your elder with such blatant disrespect."
# 3 "The Fuhrer has betrayed us by making immoral decisions while allowing those around him to manipulate his judgement."
Tucker is a well renowned scientist whose primary concern is continuing his research on chimera's and their improvement. He pursues this field at any cost.
#1 "You transmuted your mother? As an 11 year-old child? I see. So that's what earned you the title Fullmetal Alchemist. You've had a rough time of it, for someone so young."
#2 "You're right, Nina. I have to try hard, [in his thoughts] or we'll be left with nothing. Again."
#3 "Before I earned my State Alchemist certification, our life was terrible. We were so poor in those days. My wife couldn't stand living that kind of life, so she left us. [He sighs] I can't afford to fail this assessment. I don't want to go back to those days again. I don't even think I could."
"Really? And what about your sick games? Don't kid yourself, Mustang, you know how humans love to watch other people suffer while making fools of themselves. I mean, why else would you constantly be at war with each other?"
#"Congratulations, Colonel Mustang, looks like you've finally hunted down your culprit."
"Fool, you just have to forsake one little village to save an entire country. Too bad you don't have the stomach to do the logical thing. Can you really shoot such a sad face? Can you boy? Ha ha, I shouldn't be surprised, that's just how all you humans are. This time around I'll go with a younger, cuter model. What do you say? You humans don't make any sense to me.
