Haruka Nanase, often called Haru, is the main protagonist of the series. His demeanor is cold and distant, even towards people that he's close to. He seems disconnected from almost any situation he's in. He's very aloof and passive about conflict and usually bottles his emotions up until it blows up in his face. However, if you look deep down, you'd be able to see that he genuinely cares about his friends. On the surface, it seems as if he only cares about swimming, though that is held in very high regard. He'd never pursue it competitively, however.

Haru's voice is mid to mid-low. It's soft with a sort of indifferent tone. He does emote when things get serious, so do keep this in mind.

Rin Matsuoka is the main antagonist of the first season. He's a rival to Haru and is his opposite in many ways. Though, his hot-headed and competitive spirit seems to be the most obvious contrasting feature. He takes swimming very seriously and aims to become a competitive swimmer in the future. If he has to go through his childhood friends to achieve that dream, he's willing to do that.

Rin's voice is mid to mid-low. It's powerful, his emotion speaks volumes every time he speaks, as he's very passionate about what he believes in. He's not strong all the time, though. He does break down and has his vulnerable moments, so do keep this in mind.

  • “I'll show you a sight you've never seen before!” ☆Playful, energetic.

  • “Haru. I win. This means I'll never swim with you. again. Never.” ☆Prideful, harsh.

Makoto Tachibana is Haru's best friend in the series. He has a very soft, nurturing personality, always looking after everyone and making sure they're all safe. He'd sacrifice his own happiness to make someone else more comfortable. He's the mediator in his group of friends and the most level-headed. He loves swimming, but he mainly pursues it to help his friends achieve their dreams. Despite his very calm and warm demeanor, he's actually quite the scaredy cat and is always teased by others for being so cowardly.

Makoto's voice is mid to mid-high. It's very warm and smooth like silk, it's very pleasant to listen to and brightens up your mood as soon as you hear it. He can become stern and serious at points, so do keep this in mind.

  • “If you're not there with me... I have no reason to go.” ☆Genuine, soft.

  • “P-please don't scare me like that!” ☆Nagging, startled.

Nagisa Hazuki is the ray of sunshine of the series. He has a very bouncy and quirky personality, always coming up with creative ideas and plans to add a little spice to everyone's day. Some people may see him as childish, especially with his very youthful voice, appearance and demeanor. However, he's actually very dedicated and tries his best to keep everyone positive, even in the most negative of times.

Nagisa's voice is high. It's very lively and quirky, he's generally an easily excited person and optimism is one of his most treasured traits. He can have his serious moments and he's not happy one hundred percent of the time, so do keep this in mind.

🦋 Rei Ryūgazaki (竜ヶ崎 怜)

Rei Ryūgazaki is the scientist and artist of the series. Despite being all about formulas and studying, he actually really admires the aesthetic appeal of sports. He's very passionate about how beautiful the world is and is appalled by anything that doesn't fit his definition of beauty. He's very to-the-point and blunt when he wants to be left alone. But he could ramble for ages about the formulaic patterns of sports and what makes them beautiful. He can be seen as cold by some people, but to be honest, he's just a huge dork.

Rei's voice is low. He has a somewhat posh tone to his voice, but you could make it sound humble, if you wish. Though he's all about facts, he's also very passionate and driven by his emotions, so do keep this in mind.

Voice references for convenience : Here, here and here.

  • “There's nothing you could say to me that'd convince me to join the swim club.” ☆Annoyed, stern.

  • “Honestly, beauty is all I care about in a sport.” ☆Pretentious, dismissive.

  • “Sh-shut up!” ☆Embarrassed, flustered.
