Food Wars: The Cherry Blossom Fandub

The main protagonist. Soma is an energetic and optimistic boy who has the constant drive to improve his cooking, mostly due to his strong relationship and rivalry with his father, Joichiro Yukihira. He is confident in his skills and always seeks to challenge others to prove his abilities and test the limits of his cooking. He always remains positive and cool under pressure, never backing down from a challenge, and is constantly thinking and evolving his cooking. Soma is also flexible and innovative, able to break away from ordinary procedures to cook dishes, thus allowing him to make his own solutions when he needs to find an edge. As such, he can create some of the most unorthodox, but also incredibly delicious dishes the school has never seen.  Soma's lifelong goal is to become a better chef than his father and thus will fight to the very end to achieve his dream. He is always willing to help out a friend, even at the risk of his place in Totsuki for them, and is more than willing to assist anyone in need. At the same time, Soma has a natural charm around him that causes people to believe in his ability to win even the most hopeless of duels.

Hailing from a patrician background, Erina is a highly privileged and pampered girl, used to only the best things in life. She is admired and feared throughout Totsuki for her talent, looks, and her influential status. Erina is an egotist, holding dogmatic ideals on absolute culinary perfection. She enjoys a great reputation across the culinary world for her "God Tongue", which was said to either make or break a chef's career. Due to Erina's haughty personality, she cannot make friends easily as she is disdainful of virtually everyone. She lacks knowledge of some social conventions.

Megumi is Soma's best friend and classmate. She is a clumsy, timid, thoughtful, kind, and honest girl who always speaks in a polite tone. She is a nurturing sort of person, always looking out for others and willing to assist them in any way that she can. Megumi's greatest gift is her warm hospitality as she cooks for the eater to make them feel good. Her main aspiration in life is to return to, and eventually run her mother's ryokan. Megumi's mother taught her to think of someone special to her whenever she cooks and Megumi firmly believes that by doing so, she can create delicious dishes. Although Megumi is a capable chef, she does not fare well under pressure because she has stage fright. Because she is intimidated very easily, she makes simple mistakes when she cooks, causing many of her classmates to see her as a weak student. She is quick to panic when something goes awry and tends to overthink situations when under pressure or stress, such as repeatedly packing and unpacking a suitcase to make sure she packed something, even though she did not need to pack a suitcase in the first place. She is also rather cautious, preferring to choose her words and actions carefully to avoid unwanted consequences and attention. She has a habit of tracing the kanji for "person" (人) on her hand then motioning as if to eat it, whenever she is stressed. When feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, she often reverts to speaking in a Hokkaido accent.

Fumio Daimido is the caretaker and dorm matron of Polar Star Dormitory. She cares greatly for the students that live in her dormitory. Though she is quite benevolent and patient, she is exasperated by the mayhem that the residents cause, such as Yuki Yoshino's wild animals running loose inside the dorm and Shun Ibusaki's smoke cooking. She holds great pride over the Golden Era of Polar Star, which made the dormitory into the self-sustaining dorm as it is today. Fumio values true tenacity and hidden potential. Needless to say, anyone that lives in Polar Star has great skill and boundless potential.

Satoshi is the representative for the Polar Star Dormitory and best embodies what the dorm represents; quirky, spontaneous, and rebellious. He cares deeply for his fellow residents at the dorm, defending them when people look down on them. He is very comical and silly and is a naturist, which often comes as a shock for those who enter the Polar Star Dormitory for the first time. Behind his benevolence and slack personality, however, is a serious and cunning opponent. Satoshi tends to hold back during casual challenges against opponents clearly under his skill level. His focus and tenacity made him a Council of Ten member and his cooking skills and cunning tactics kept him there. Despite this, however, he is reluctant to accept any Food War challenged to him by his fellow Polar Star dorm mates. Satoshi knows his juniors better than anyone and expresses unconditional faith in their abilities. During challenges and Food Wars, Satoshi remains cool and nonchalant, completely ignoring all insults thrown at him. However, should someone insult Polar Star or its residents, Satoshi becomes incredibly serious and shows very little mercy to his opponents. Even when he has assured victory over an opponent, he will not stop pestering them until they properly apologize.

Yuki is a spunky, cheerful, and cheeky girl with a "bright" and "contagious" smile. She can be childish as she enjoys teasing others. Although she acts quite innocent for the most part, she is just as competitive as everyone else and will readily show off her skills if challenged. She loves to gossip and immediately shows interest whenever she sees any sort of romantic hints from anyone. Yuki has the habit of adding Yuki is very passionate and feels emotions strongly. She is also able to swing between moods, from being worried to being angry or sad. She is very loyal and supportive of her friends and her main aspiration is to keep the entire 92nd Generation residents of Polar Star together through their Totsuki life. She is somewhat self-conscious of her body and gets upset at more well-developed female characters.

Compared to the other residents of the Polar Star Dormitory, Shun is less energetic. He does not speak much, but if he does, he speaks quite bluntly and flatly. While most of his fellow residents and classmates may get worked up when something bad happens, Shun remains calm and collected so he does not make mistakes. Despite not appearing so, Shun does want to be the best in the academy and is prone to sulk whenever he loses. Shun is often annoyed by the impulsiveness of his fellow dormmates but does care for their well-being. Overall, Shun is a realist, accepting things as they are.

Zenji is extremely intelligent and is one of the most academically gifted persons in his class. He is comically weak and is easily exhausted due to his low stamina. As a result, many of his classmates look down on him for his physical weakness. Zenji admits that not only is he physically weak, but also has no outstanding cooking talent compared to the likes of many of his other classmates. To make up for this weakness, Zenji devotes himself entirely to his academic studies so he can keep up with the natural geniuses and prodigies in his class. His natural intelligence and sharp memory are his assets that truly compensate for his physical shortcomings. Zenji does not like the fact that the Polar Star residents love to hang out in his room since it is the biggest, especially since he would rather be studying. Still, he eventually caves in more often than not and even participates in their shenanigans. Nevertheless, he cares a great deal for his fellow Polar Star friends and is particularly close to Shun Ibusaki.

Ryoko is a gentle and kind member of the Polar Star Dormitory. Compared to her more eccentric dorm-mates, Ryoko is much more level-headed and mature, responding to most situations in a calm and collected manner. She tends to comfort and assist others when they are troubled or upset, namely Yūki Yoshino.

Daigo is often seen fighting with Shoji Sato. He may look rough around the edges, but he is fiercely loyal to their fellow residents, defending them at the insults of other students and supporting them from the sidelines at major competitions. He is often seen bothering Zenji at times alongside other Polar Star Residents and frequently using his rooms for parties along with other residents of the dormitory. Though often arguing with Shoji, he is rarely seen without him.

Shoji is often seen fighting with Daigo. He may look rough around the edges, but he is fiercely loyal to their fellow residents, defending them at the insults of other students and supporting them from the sidelines at major competitions. He is often seen bothering Zenji at times alongside other Polar Star Residents and frequently using his rooms for parties along with other residents of the dormitory. Though often arguing with Daigo, he is rarely seen without him.

Hisako is Erina's aide. She is a loyal friend to Erina and is seldom seen away from her. As her secretary, she helps organize Erina's tasks and assignments to allow her to focus on her work, showing an impressive amount of time management and secretarial skills, even more so considering that she is only a high school student. Much of Hisako's ambitions are to help out Erina and make sure that she stays at the top of the class, with Erina standing above her as her "Empress". She tends to care more for Erina than she does herself, which has been the case since they were kids. Hisako is always fine following behind Erina and was fine being that way since childhood. She also helps introduce some modern things to Erina such as Shojo manga, which she buys for her upon request. Much like Erina, Hisako is generally stubborn and prideful, often belittling others, usually in Erina's stead.

Ikumi has a fiery, combative personality and shows great pride in her skills as a meat expert. She is also a bold individual and is not above intimidation to get her way. Behind her tough exterior, however, she is a kindhearted individual. She's not particularly fond of being called Meat Meat. Only those particularly close to her are allowed to call her Meat Meat including Soma, Kanichi, and the Polar Star girls. Ikumi has a mild crush on Soma but is too shy to admit it. When flustered, she sometimes acts violently when someone calls her out on her concern for Soma. She is more than willing to aid Soma whenever he asks for her help. More often than not, however, Ikumi misinterprets his requests thinking that he asked her alone for help, only for her to find others involved. Nevertheless, she provides all the knowledge and assistance she can give to him when asked.

Takumi is a hot-blooded student from Florence, Italy who holds a strong rivalry with Soma Yukihira, though this rivalry is somewhat one-sided with Takumi pursuing this rivalry much more intensely than Soma, though Soma does acknowledge Takumi as a rival. Like Soma, he hails from a family-owned restaurant, which he holds with pride and will defend its name when a challenge presents itself. Takumi hates to lose and is rather bitter in defeat. He is also easily flustered and embarrassed when he makes a mistake or when someone glazes over his declarations. He also speaks Italian. He has a particularly close bond with his younger twin brother Isami. Though Takumi is a superior chef compared to his brother, he is always there for his brother and helps him become a better chef so that they can run Trattoria Aldini together. However, Isami tends to laugh a lot when Takumi faults himself, causing Takumi to snap at him. Nevertheless, the two work together through most challenges. If anyone were to insult Isami because he is inferior to Takumi, Takumi takes it personally and will do his best to silence all critics no matter who they may be.

Isami is Takami's younger twin brother. Unlike his fiery brother, Isami is calm, peaceful, and even jovial around others. However, he does share the same fiery passion when it comes to cooking. Isami tends to laugh at Takumi's brashness since he often ends up embarrassed when other people misinterpret his message. Other times he likes to tease Takumi whenever they have friendly fights when they cook or play games. Overall, the twins have a close bond and Isami does whatever he can to support his brother.

Alice is Erina's cousin. As a member of the prestigious Nakiri Family, Alice holds herself in high regard due to her pedigree. Although not as conceited as Erina Nakiri, Alice does like to illustrate the difference in abilities between herself and her rivals. As an expert in the field of molecular gastronomy, Alice highly values not only the culinary aspect of cooking but the artisan aspects as well. To Alice, to be a successful chef in the modern world, a chef must exercise both of these traits to the highest potential. Unlike her cousin, though, Alice is much more friendly and cheery and talks to her rivals casually, sometimes merely to poke fun at them, something she inherited from her mother. She also tends to pout when she does not get her way. She is also a modern girl, eager to talk about love and gossip, even with the incredibly socially dense Erina. She's a bossy person, usually ordering Ryo Kurokiba to do nearly everything for her. Despite her smug and jovial demeanor, Alice is quite irascible when people disagree with her. She tends to overreact when she is unhappy and is prone to throwing childish tantrums when things don't go her way. However, most of these are temporary and she will quickly return to normal in a few minutes.

Ryo Kurokiba is Alice Nakiri's aide. For the most part, Ryo is normally very slow, lazy, and gloomy. His general demeanor lacks any sort of interest in what is going on around him, but he remains attentive to the needs of Alice. He is not shy to speak his own mind or criticize Alice in this form but generally will only speak when necessary if he is with anyone but Alice. His speech is formal and simple, but slow. However, Ryo has a much more passionate personality that only emerges once he wears his signature bandana or any sort of tight-fitting headgear. This new demeanor is much bolder, wilder, and untamed, akin to a wild beast, fittingly called his "Berserk Mode". His speech is also much more aggressive as he has no qualms as to whom he talks to, even having violent outbursts in an instant. However, if someone were to remove his headband, he will instantly revert to his usual gloomy personality even in mid-sentence. Ryo considers all kitchens to be a battlefield with the food a chef makes as a representation of their power. He thus loathes bonds between chefs as he believes that such soft feelings weaken a chef's true capabilities.

Nao holds a deep harboring affection towards Erina Nakiri. Nao would do anything to get close to Erina, including sending her 30 letters daily or watching her from afar using binoculars. As a girl who has a strong obsession, her pride and desire to fulfill her fantasies often clouds her judgment. In her mind, Nao labels anyone close to Erina as her "mortal enemy". She will not hesitate to crush her "love rivals" and place herself as Erina's personal associate, even if that person is close to Erina, such as Hisako Arato.

Miyoko is a strong-willed person with a lust for battle, she has a vehement belief that test grades alone do not completely rank an individual's capability. She takes a physical approach when dealing with problems. She strongly believes that women should have pride and prestige like men, further implying to whoever underestimates a woman's strength shall not be forgiven. However, her beliefs discriminate against any men she sees, but also steepen her prejudice by assuming women who receive assistance from men, are considered weak. Despite being overly vehement, Miyoko is a compassionate person who protects the weak and innocent from the oppression of any ignorant students.

Akira is a confident and calm student in Totsuki. Due to his sharp sense of smell which rivals Erina's God's Tongue, Akira proudly displays his ability and is not afraid to say that he is the best chef in the school. Like many of his classmates, Akira firmly believes that he will stand on top of Totsuki thanks to his abilities and is one of the few people who will stand up to Erina. Akira tends to stay in a neutral mood, rarely showing any sort of shock when confronted by any opposing force, even the likes of Subaru Mimasaka and Ryō Kurokiba. He only thinks about winning, never considering the possibility of losing. He is extremely diligent, always covering up for any sort of mistakes that Jun Shiomi forgets to do around the seminar room. Much of Akira's drive comes from Jun. He has stated that Jun is the reason why he continues to cook. However, he is not above scolding her for being neglectful and even lectures her when she is irresponsible although she is an adult while he is still only a student.

Urara enjoys being in the spotlight and tends to act cute whenever she's hosting a Food War, similar to an idol. She has a high popularity rating with the boys, much to the annoyance of women. As the emcee for a lot of events, she has a wide database of knowledge of nearly every student in the academy, or at the very least the common knowledge of each student's prestige. Despite Urara's seemingly nice and gentle demeanor, she is extremely jealous whenever the men focus their attention on another woman, such as Ikumi, even going as far as cursing her in her thoughts. Urara can also sense if another woman is getting a lot of attention even if she is not in the same vicinity.

Senzaemon Nakiri is a highly respected culinary expert in the world. He is the Director of Totsuki Culinary Academy. As one of the most highly regarded figures in the culinary world, Senzaemon is treated with the utmost respect from those in the industry. As the director of Totsuki Culinary Academy, Senzaemon holds an iron-clad philosophy in regards to culinary arts with the strict policy that his academy is infamous for. He has high expectations for his students and does not tolerate failure. He highly values tenacity, spirit, and courage, especially those who display such mettle in the face of adversity. He has taken a special interest in the 92nd Totsuki Generation which currently hosts a wide variety of students who come from various backgrounds and have continued to innovate and exceed his expectations. Senzaemon is a particularly hard individual to impress given his notoriety. Should a student manage to impress him, Senzaemon has the unusual habit of stripping off the top part of his yukata as a clear sign. In rare instances, Senzaemon may not disrobe himself, but his fundoshi may unravel instead. Though the crowd may not notice it, Senzaemon will be the only person to notice this and takes this as a sign of great hidden potential in a student. Senzaemon is a loving family man and is particularly fond of his maternal granddaughter, Erina Nakiri. He has a solid bond with his paternal granddaughter Alice Nakiri.

Laurent Chapelle is one of the lecturers in Totsuki Culinary Academy and the chief of its French Cuisine Division. As the head of the French Culinary Division, Laurent is very serious about his native style. He does not suffer fools gladly, so much so that he can still give off an intimidating vibe to Totsuki Academy Alumni who have been under his tutelage even years after graduation. To Laurent, any dish that is not "A" quality grade is an "E" grade failure. As a result, many students fear his classes. However, Laurent is also a lecturer who treats his students fairly. He is extremely insightful and worries about his students' progress even after they graduate, taking pride whenever they manage to overcome and grow beyond their previous obstacles.

Jun Shiomi is one of the lecturers in Totsuki Culinary Academy as well as the professor of the Shiomi Seminar. A bookworm who has intensive knowledge of herbs and spices, Jun is an expert on the science of spices and their effects on cooking. Once she enters "lecture mode", she will solely focus on her lecture and will not notice anything else. While she has the educational knowledge, it is her assistant, Akira Hayama, who puts that knowledge into practice. Similar to Megumi, Jun is extremely polite, has low self-esteem, and constantly apologizes for her actions. Despite being a lecturer in the academy, she is often scolded by Akira for her many faults such as sleeping on the ground or forgetting to care for the various spice plants in their vicinity, since most of her chores and duties are being taken care of by Akira. Regardless, Jun has confidence in Akira's abilities and mastery of spices even though she is sometimes livid about some of Akira's crude jokes. Being one of Polar Star residents during the dorm's Golden Era, Jun knew both Gin Dojima and Joichiro Yukihira during her time. Unfortunately, Jun is more hostile towards the latter as Joichiro used her as a guinea pig for many of his failed dishes, many of which left her emotionally scarred, creating a grudge against him.

Joichiro Yukihira is the widowed father of Soma Yukihira. Like his son, Joichiro is laid back but professional and has a serious side that emerges whenever he is cooking. His skills in cooking are world-famous. He is noted to have a manly aura. As the sole parental figure in Soma's life, he is a mentor, teacher, and rival to his son, though he never pushed Sōma to become a chef, allowing Soma to develop that interest on his own. Joichiro is, if anything, very supportive of his son and the two share many similarities such as the shared habit of creating horrible dishes and feeding them to unsuspecting people which proves their connection. Despite this, Joichiro does occasionally like to see Soma stressed and frustrated by challenging him to many cook-offs which have always ended in Joichiro's victory. Again though, this is to show Soma how much more he has to grow.

Gin is the General Head Chef and a member of the Board of Directors for Totsuki Resort. Gin is a very serious, straightforward person who treats every single student at the Totsuki like an employee and does not tolerate failure. Because of his leadership style, the Totsuki Resort is considered one of the best hotel establishments in the world. He is also quite dutiful to Japanese traditions as he never fails to send Fumio Daimido a card for Obon and Shogatsu. Gin also has a good eye for talent and is quite flexible when it comes to defending those whom he deems worthy enough to stay at Totsuki. However, in his eyes, Gin values action and effort over words. He is also quite perceptive and can determine things that people are trying to hide. It goes without saying that Gin is a very hard person to impress, but for the select few that do grab his attention, it is considered almost a high honor by most aspiring chefs.

Kojiro is an extremely uptight person due to the people of France ostracizing him because he was Japanese and belittling his dream to earn the Pluspol Award. He is a smug individual and is also very cocky. He hates it when people waste time and is quickly annoyed the minute he catches his employees not working. In reality, Kojiro is a caring and friendly individual, but his more abrasive nature became more pronounced after he graduated.

Hinako is the owner and head chef of the Japanese Restaurant, Kirinoya. Hinako projects an image of a mature, serene, and calm individual. However, she actually has several childlike tendencies. At times she is childish and carefree. Despite this though, behind her serene personality, she can be just as ruthless as her fellow Totsuki Alumni, showing that she has high standards for the students and is not afraid to deem a dish unworthy. Hinako also believes that chefs who stumble and make the wrong choices when faced with an unknown situation are not needed in Totsuki Culinary Academy. She tends to make fun of Kojiro, to which Kojiro will respond by hitting her on the head, grabbing her face, or tying her up.

Fuyumi Mizuhara is the owner and head chef of the Italian restaurant, Ristorante F. Fuyumi is a woman of few words who gives off a rather lazy and uninterested aura where she rarely speaks and she is generally taciturn whenever she does. She is close to her fellow old classmate, Kojiro Shinomiya, though she mocks him whenever she can.

Donato Gotoda is the owner and head chef of the Auberge, Tesoro. Donato is charming and flirtatious to the opposed sex. However, he is also more knowledgeable of their feelings than his fellow alumnus Kojiro Shinomiya.
