Fate/Resistance Servant Showcase

Fate/Resistance Servant Showcase

Project Overview

A hypothetical Grail War has just begun and seven servants have been brought forth, ready to fight for the Ultimate Boon.
This is merely a showcase of the Servants involved in the war. Whether or not it will evolve into an actual story/series is still up in the air. Still, I want to explore this concept and showcase the characters involved.
Each Servant will perform a monologue about their stories and reasons for seeking the Grail, gathering for one last video to basically confirm that they're ready.

Saber is none other than the Boy Who Never Grew Up, Peter Pan. The youngest of the Servants in appearance and behavior, Saber is upbeat and full of youthful energy, eager to prove himself in battle and have plenty of fun. He appears older than most of his other incarnations, 15 or 16, but he doesn't want to talk about it and feels uncomfortable-sullen even- when the topic arises.

Voice Templates: Robbie Daymond (Prompto from "Final Fantasy XV") or Max Mittelman (Ryuji from "Persona 5")

  • So, are you the one who summoned me as a Saber-class Servant? (playful snicker) Of course you are! Who wouldn't want ME on their side?

  • Oh, come on! You can't just stand there and tell me you don't know who I am! (pause, then sigh and get slightly annoyed) Fine, guess I'll have to fill you in.

  • What? I look older than you thought? (pause, then get a bit sullen) I...don't like to talk about that.

Summoned for the Lancer-class servant is Boudicca, a Celtic queen who led a long and bloody campaign against the Romans ages ago. She simultaneously holds an air of ferocity and regality, being the warrior queen that she is, but harbors a secret love of children, being a mother of two in her past life. Her tale is one of pain, revenge and anguish as she poisoned herself and her daughters, so she is the most tragic of the Servants.

Voice templates: Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Motoko Kusanagi from "Ghost in the Shell")

  • You...Are you the one who summoned me as the Lancer-class Servant? (pause, waiting for confirmation) Hm, I see. Our pact as master and servant is now sealed.

  • Not wanting that kind of fate for myself or my daughters…I made an impossible choice—one that no mother should make. I had my children swallow poisoned water…then swallowed it myself.

  • With spear in hand, I seek the Holy Grail to do the one thing any mother would desire.
(sudden shift in tone to legitimately-sad)
I would wish to embrace my family once more.

Role assigned to: James Dijit

As the Archer-class Servant is the infamous outlaw Jesse James. He's abrasive, gruff and not one to take orders, preferring to do things his way. His goals for ultimate glory and his upbringing through the Civil War have shaped him into someone who's confident and wise in his own right, if a bit on the irritable side.

*Southern accent is welcome, but not necessarily a must here*

Voice templates: Vic Mignogna (Qrow from "RWBY") and Steve Blum (Mugen from "Samurai Champloo")

  • Hm…coulda gotten a better master, but you’ll do. Pact’s done, and I ain’t got much choice now. Name’s Jesse James, the American King of Outlaws.

  • Personally, I’d use the Grail to make true what should’ve happened in the first place. My wish would be for the South to rise up against the North and crush it...with me at the head of the lines, guns blazing.

  • You’d best hope that YOUR wish doesn’t contradict MINE, ‘cuz if that’s the case...we’ll have a problem on our hands.

Charging in as the Rider-class Servant is the father of modern strategy--Hannibal Barca of Carthage. He has a level of pride and confidence in his ability, but it doesn't extend to boasting and stems more from intense focus on the task at hand, viewing all else as little more than a distraction. Underneath it all, lurks a man who simply yearns to have his own say in matters rather than live out what fate has lined out for him.

Voice templates: Richard Epcar (Seijuro from "Rurouni Kenshin") or Douglas Rye (Cao Cao from "Dynasty Warriors")

  • I ask of you, are you worthy of being the master of me, the Rider-class Servant? (pause) Very well. Our pact is now set. I am your Servant, Hannibal Barca of Carthage.

  • My reason for seeking the Grail...is purpose for myself. My father was a great and noble warrior-one I loved and respected all my life-but the blood oath I swore to him set my own future without hope of escape.

  • Until victory is certainly ours, I will continue to fight and will annihilate those who stand in my way.
You had best hope that YOU are not one of them.

Assassin

Role assigned to: Jeromy

Assassin turned out to be the German preacher, Dietrich Bonhoeffer (though even he finds himself ill-fitting for the class). He's a somewhat-eccentric man, but also very pleasant and good-spirited, often trying to find peaceful solutions to otherwise-violent problems. He believes that there's more to courage than just charging in blindly, and that it can stem from doing the right thing even amid dark and evil environments.

*German accent is a must for this character*

Voice template: Liam O'Brien (Nightcrawler from "Wolverine and the X-Men")

  • (dark, mysterious voice) You, who summoned me in the form of an Assassin, are you my master? (pause) Wunderbar. Our pact is formed.
(suddenly cheery and friendly) So, as long as we are working together, might as well become acquainted, right? Ahem! Geuten Tach. I am Assassin, but you may call me Dietrich Bonhoeffer!

  • Hm? What would I want with the Holy Grail? Hmmmm...(pause, thinking, before chuckling) Well, I missed a chance to meet Gandhi in my life…So I guess I would use it to correct THAT mistake.

  • The Grail doesn’t NEED to grant something big and magnificent. It could be used for anything, from changing the course of history to making sure it doesn’t rain next Tuesday.

The mightiest Judge in all of Israel summoned as a Berserker? What a fit. Samson is brash, competitive and VERY confident in his own ability. He'll take potshots at whoever he wants, talk up his game like he's on top of the world, and will casually sock anyone he finds remotely annoying. He does have a level of bitterness deep down--that his very actions led to his downfall, but pushes it aside because of the fun times ahead.

Voice templates: Fred Tatasciore (Magnus from "Kid Icarus: Uprising") and Gregg Berger (Jecht from "Final Fantasy X")

  • Hey, pencil-neck, you’re the one who summoned me, right? Not what I was expecting…but I guess you’ll have to do.

You just called forth Samson, the Mightiest Judge, to be the Berserker.

  • The Philistines...kinda hated me with a burnin’ passion, since I kept putting them in the ground faster than they could run up. Best example being when I killed a thousand with a donkey’s jawbone!

  • Holy Grail? What’d I use it for? I dunno. I guess the only reason I’m here is to crack open a few Heroic Spirit skulls. Sounds like fun if you ask me.

Caster

Role assigned to: megami33

Aaand here's your trademark "Type-MOON Genderbend", for the Caster is none other than Aladdin from the Arabian Nights. Caster is crafty, manipulative and alluring to many--all the right marks for a thief and femme fatale. Strangely enough, she seeks the Grail to find an item that she claims is even more powerful--the Legendary Djinn of the Lamp, which grants its owner three wishes of any sort.

Voice template: Elizabeth Maxwell (Urbosa from "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild")

  • (mischievous chuckle) So, you’re the one who summoned me in the form of a Caster? Okay, I can deal with that.
My name is Aladdin, the King of Thieves. What? Not what you were expecting? You aren't the first to say that.

  • Impoverished and filthy, I had to steal to eat. However, I discovered that, if I dressed right, I could pass for a boy--a trick that would become very useful in my future and redefine my life as a thief.

  • To me, the Holy Grail is a means to my goal. I would use it to bring forth the Djinn of the Lamp, which has thaumaturgical powers beyond that of any known magic…even the Grail itself

Gilgamesh appears at the very end of this showcase and In this Grail War, he acts as a Guardian for the last Servant standing.

Being the "King of Heroes", Gilgamesh is VERY arrogant and, while disgusted at the current set of combatants, he also harbors intrigue for them--as though they're so disgusting and pathetic that their struggles amuse and entertain him. He also yearns for the Grail and for reasons only he knows.

  • You really have no idea what you’re throwing yourself into, do you?

So many filthy mongrels squabbling over what is rightfully mine. It’s disgusting, really.

Such a magnificent treasure should belong only to the highest of kings, should it not?

And who could be higher a king than myself?

To deny me the grail would be among the greatest sins man could commit.

As my absolute rule demands, any to commit such a sin…shall pay with their life.

So come forth, mongrels. Take what you claim to desire most…if you have the courage.

But know that the treasure you seek has a jealous guardian: The King of Heroes himself.

    I will be waiting.
