[Fan-Redub] Sonic ReduX - Episode 2!
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Sonic X Redux is an uncut redub of the original Japanese version of the Sonic X Anime with a brand new cast, using the original Japanese OST and aiming to stay as true to the original Japanese Broadcast as possible!
PRODUCTION
The series will be released on YouTube when they're finished. Each episode will be completely re-edited from the ground up, including the sound effects and Original OST from the Japanese version of the show.
AUDITIONING
Interested in trying out for a role? Great! Below you'll find the roles for the episode, each one will have an image, a brief description and some voice lines, naturally. For the actual project, I will be the Episodes for reference to help you figure out how to best do the lines. As far as the actual auditions go, I have a few general things I want to say:
- Provide at least two takes of every line, each take, try to do the line a bit differently.
- Don't feel obligated to imitate a VA that has played the character, if there is one. If you can do it really well, cool! But it's also cool to provide a new take on a character.
- Clean, unedited audio! Don't add any filters/effects. If you can do it well and need to, you CAN use a bit of noise reduction, but I want to hear your voice unfiltered, also when it comes to the actual production, it'll sound more consistent if I'm processing unedited audio.
AUDITION RECCOMENDATIONS & GOALS
To elaborate on what we're looking for, we've added this section to help you if you are a little lost on what exactly we want out of your audition. When it comes to your voice, you should be able to somewhat match the Japanese performances in Sonic X. If you need to know what those sound like, you can reference clips on YouTube or you can go back and watch the subbed version of the show, available on Hulu. While getting close to the Japanese is important, what is more important is that your audition has good range. This is because Sonic X has a lot of powerful and emotional scenes that require said range. Play around with your voice and add improv if you think it will show more of what you can do! Most of all, you should be passionate about this project, because it is ambitious in nature. All in all, have fun with it!

Lindsey Thorndyke, the wife of Nelson Thorndyke, the mother of Christopher Thorndyke and the older sister of Sam Speed. She is a very famous and talented actress whose reputation has made her a celebrity. Because of her work, she spends most of her time traveling the world or on the movie set, and as such spends little time with her family. Nonetheless, she is a loving mother and wife who cares deeply for her family.
Voice Direction: Go for a Mid-tone with her voice, try to convey a warm, or caring, yet a mature and motherly type of voice while also being able to sound lively, and a bit ditsy.
(disappointed) Oh, I’m so sorry sweetie. There’s been a lot of rain lately, so filming is being delayed.
I won’t be back until next week, I suppose.
(reassuring) But, look on the bright side! I can mail you some presents from here, if you’d like.
(surprised) *gasp* You were swimming at that hour!?
Nelson Thorndyke, the son of Chuck Thorndyke, the husband of Lindsey Thorndyke, and father of Christopher Thorndyke. He is the wealthy president of Thorndyke Industries, whose company has succeeded well enough for him to be a famous celebrity. He is usually very absorbed in work and as such spends little time with his family. Despite this, he is a very caring man who is willing to risk everything for his family.
Voice Direction: Low-Mid tone with the general sound of a serious,/strict, yet caring father and family man and can sound a bit overreactive and oversensitive (especially when it comes to his son Chris)
Hey Chris. Your Mom told me that a cat fell in our pool last night?
I’m sorry, Chris!
Seems like The Security’s not good enough if a cat can get in so easily.
Oh okay then, I’m hanging up. I love you chris.
Chuck Thorndyke, the paternal grandfather of Christopher Thorndyke. A scientist and inventor, Chuck loves conducting experiments, creating inventions, and discovering new technologies. He is also a close friend of Miles "Tails" Prower, whom he has created many inventions with, including the X Tornado.
Voice Direction: Go for a Mid tone and can sound good-humored and witty, with certain circumstances causing him to behave eccentrically as well as sound eccentric, yet can also be wise.
(Excited) Chris, Tell me you heard about it!
Some strange machine appeared and beat the S-Team the other night!
It looks like they’ve been brought to the Military facilities to be examined. Maybe they think you guys are some kind of aliens or Biological weapons developed in a foreign country designed for war
(turns to Sonic and asks in a suspicious tone) Which one is in fact the truth, eh?
(responding to Chris' Question) Of course I do!
(talking to Sonic over the radio) If you keep going in suspicious-looking directions, I'm sure it'll take you to your destination.
Scarlet Garcia is a human ace news reporter from Station Square TV News, and is praised by other journalists for her work.
Voice Direction: Mid-High tone but can sound calm, delicate, and enthusiastic (especially in regards to her work as a Journalist)
It’s moving at an incredible speed that just looking at the footage alone makes it difficult to understand
But we have some Eyewitness reports.
