Project Overview

Episode Two: The Morning Star

Hello, everyone! The casting call for the first episode went so well and everyone's lines are done, so we're starting this one a week early! Hooray!

Welcome to Fallout: Second Dawn, a fan-made audio drama that will be released this September. I'm Jonas, and I'm both one of the writers and the project's director. The story follows vault dweller Dawn Watson on six ~30-minute episodes' worth of adventures through the wasteland once known as Washington. (The state, not the city.) This project is being hosted on the Pro listing and the hobby listing, in an effort to see how the two halves of the site shape up.

Major (recurring) roles will be paid. We're working on a student budget, so it's not what you're worth, but it's better than nothing!

Here's how this will work. This casting call will end at noon EST next Saturday, the 10th. If you are cast, you will have two weeks to schedule a direction session over Skype or Discord and complete your lines. At the end of those two weeks (on June 24th), the casting call for Episode 3 will be published, again for a week. Those actors will also have two weeks to receive direction and record. This will continue in a 3-week (or less, if everything moves swiftly) pattern until September 2nd, when the final episode's casting call will be published. Please feel free to comment with any questions.

This project is a large commitment and on a strict schedule. You'll be expected to be punctual and professional as we record over the next three months. If you can't be punctual, you must be communicative so we can find a time that works for you. If you're not communicative, you'll be recast.

Cast Expectations:

  • • Quality audio. If issues with your audio (such as background noise or reverb) can't be fixed, I'm sorry, but we can't cast you.

  • • Punctuality. For each episode in which you appear, you'll need to be able to schedule a direction session (which should take no more than an hour for any one episode) within a two-week period. Timing is flexible and can be suited to your needs, but if you are unable to respond to messages in a timely manner or sit for direction, you will be given warning and then recast. Once more, in bold: If you can't or won't commit your time to this project, you will be replaced.

  • • Communication. This goes hand in hand with punctuality. If you need to reschedule a direction session or otherwise have a problem with time, but are willing to communicate and work it out, everything will be swell. If you don't respond to messages or otherwise make contact impossible, you will be given warning and then recast.

  • • Enthusiasm. Okay, now that all the strict stuff is out of the way, I should also remind you that this is for fun! We're trying to have a good time and tell a good story,

  • • Skype, Discord, or similar. You'll also need some way to actually have a direction session to record your lines.

In Summary:
We'll be working on a 3-week cycle for the next three months. If you can't commit to that, you'll be recast. Major roles will be paid a small amount. When complete, the podcast will be distributed for free. If you're not cast, there will be four more opportunities to join this project, including several major roles.

Please feel free to leave any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. If that's all okay with you, then I look forward to your audition. Thank you, and I hope to see you in the wastes!

  • Show yourself. I order you to show yourself now, or we will open fire.(stern)

  • We laid the groundwork for the NCR to settle the state. Pathfinding, survival tactics, cartography. That's our job.(explaining, disdainful)

  • Then why did you come to Fort Peterson? This is a designated NCR outpost. You'll find no sympathizers here.(accusatory, upset)

  • We're breaking camp. You two are welcome to tag along to Fort Peterson, if you can keep up with us.(encouraging)

  • What do they ever do? They're looking for tech, and they want to get it before anyone else does.(explaining, annoyed)

  • Name's Nimble. Just thought you should know, if you stay with those bear-assed NCR, the Brotherhood's not gonna be too happy.(warning, snarky)
