Extrasolar Defense Squad (Gacha Club VO Series)
Project Overview
The Crisis is spreading. It is poisoning the cosmos. And it is not afraid to take down anyone in its path. Already having pinned and destroyed the Solar System, it is hungry, and out for vengeance.
~~~~~
For many decades, the space station has been functioning smoothly. It has been fulfilling its purpose for searching out new planets and spreading out the human race. The solar system has nearly completely come to a dysfunctional end, as the sun expands beyond Mars in size and the planets stray from their orbits.
The ISA is functioning smoothly. The International Space Academy takes in new 8th grade applicants every year and sends them off to join humanities efforts on their 19th birthday, without any choice. Sometimes, the elite families are able to get their children off easy, to enjoy their childhoods a little longer. But not always.
Life for Orion Sage isn’t any different. The 16-year-old girl and her brother, Paul Sage, have lived and trained at the ISA since their 8th Grade Year. Paul, now 18, is getting ready to leave Orion, the crew, and the kids behind to join the efforts, just like everyone else his age.
But when the Incident strikes, and life at the ISA is demolished and turned upside down, it’s up to Orion to survive, find her friends, and rescue the efforts. What can she do… stranded on planet to planet, doomed to find her way back? Will she be able to find a final destination, a habitable planet, before it is too late… and the planets she dwells on… become victims to the Crisis?
Orion is the protagonist. She is strong, determined, and works well under pressure. Her friendships are her vulnerability, and if used against her, a weakness, as she will do anything for those she loves or cares about. Orion is frustrated by the pressure of being the "unofficial leader" of her group, but she is trying to stay strong. Despite always trying to keep pushing for the best outcome, Orion is often judgmental and can be extremely cynical about the world around her.
Positive traits: Determined, fast on her feet, impulsive, loyal, caring
Negative traits: Stubborn, sometimes leaps into action without regard for consequences, cynical, judgmental
(disappointed) I can't believe your birthday's in a month, Paul. A month and you're gone...
(out of breath) Keep running KEEP RUNNING!
(SEPARATE: just wince in pain)
(determined) Divert the path, it's an emergency landing. Touch down on 18Z-X71.
Paul is a sweet, street-smart guy. He knows his place and his value, but isn't afraid to speak his mind. He's a loveable cinnamon roll and an amazing brother, always looking after his little sister. When he gets separated and is claimed to be dead on a planet victim to the crisis, he despairs, beginning to lose hope of surviving and reuniting with his sister.
(surprised) You? Unable to function without me? You're very sufficient, Orion, I wouldn't worry about it.
(terrified) ORION!
(in despair) It's been 14 days on K4-51S. I am beginning to doubt my chances of getting out of this alive. (in a whisper) The Crisis... it's real.
Aurora is the calculating numbers girl of the team. Often behind the scenes, she's a great counter to both Kenji's spontaneousness and Orion's thoughtless actions. She thinks deeply about everything, but sometimes, it causes her to lose the important moments, and sometimes, her hesitation can be her downfall. Sometimes when under pressure, Aurora freezes up because she lacks the time she needs to make the right calculations. She can be sarcastic.
(plainly) We can't go down that canyon unless you want to plummet the approximate 654.29 foot drop. I'd recommend we don't. The wind pressure itself would kill us.
(freaking out) I DON'T KNOW! THE EARTHQUAKE IS TO DISTRACTING, I CAN'T DO THE MATH!
(sarcastically) That's the best idea I've ever heard.
Naturally funny and naturally bright, Charlie has tried to turn himself into prince charming. But deep inside, he is extremely insecure about his abilities to survive and is held back by being afraid of holding back the team. (Dang.)
(casually) It's only the fifth time we've walked into a trap.
(trying to get a laugh) Thank you, thank you folks! We'll be back next week if we're still alive!
(delicately) I don't know why I try so hard for the attention.
Taegan is usually quiet, usually hangs in the back. He's the eyes and ears of the mission, always lurking... always waiting. However, being a people person isn't in his comfort zone, so relying on others to survive is hard for him. When he does contribute, he never snaps, and when he does snap... it is very scary. Silently opinionated, but usually never shares. Surprisingly not very judgmental, but has a big fear of being judged.
(whispering) I don't like the look of this cave.
(plainly) I agree with Orion.
(angrily) CONFLICT IS RIDICULOUSLY UNNECESSARY! You are HINDERING everyone ELSE'S abilities to FOCUS. We don't NEED to pick a side, we don't NEED to be right, we need to survive.
Everest is a calm, collected, go-with-the-flow kinda gal. Seemingly never tightly wound. She cares deeply about the mental health of others, but also herself, causing her to sometimes come across as selfish. She works best when in nature, and her extreme claustrophobia can sometimes be an issue.
(gently) Come on, Orion. We both know you're in no condition to continue. Do you really think the team will succeed if we're all in a dark mental place?
(angrily) I'M NOT SELFISH FOR NOT ALWAYS THRUSTING MYSELF THOUGHTLESSLY INTO A SUICIDE MISSION!
(relaxed) I finally feel at peace by this river. I didn't know being stranded on a planet could be so... refreshing.
