Dragon Brawl Z Episode 03 (SSBB Machinima) [Emergency Recast + Extra Characters]
Project Overview
Hey there!
The name's
dRage and I've been doing Brawl machinima on and off since 2008. As
the project name suggests this action/comedy series is inspired by DBZ. Yet it
still follows its own story. To clarify, I'm not recreating DBZ with
Smash characters but rather incorporating elements and themes from DBZ
into my machinima. This is most notable with the battle scenes which I'm
trying to make as fast-paced and flashy as I can (by utilizing custom
animations, After Effects and lots of good ol' editing).
This is an ongoing series and I've already completed two episodes which you can find under "Previously Completed Projects". I've cast nearly all of the voices for the project on this site and I couldn't have asked for a better cast. Unfortunately, one of my main voice actors has to drop out of the project which is why I'm turning to this place again for a re-cast.
For
a very brief summary of the series so far: Ten years ago portals leading
to an uninhabited dimension appeared in several worlds. In this
mysterious dimension referred to as 'The Convergence' a fighting
tournament is held every year where fighters of the connected worlds
compete to test their strength. An unknown system
divides those who step through the portals into spectators and
competitors. Not everyone is happy with their assigned position and in a
place crowded with so many people from all kinds of worlds, a conflict
is just waiting to happen. At the end of the tenth annual tournament a rebellion lead by Shadow and Black Shadow breaks out which casts the heroes into an all-out battle to defend the Convergence's main portal. Sheik and Fox' investigation reveals that Ganondorf has been supporting the rebellion from behind the scenes and as an injured Luigi arrives through the portal to warn of an invasion on the Mushroom Kingdom, it becomes clear that the rebellion was merely a distraction. Captain Falcon, Sonic, Lucario and Mewtwo agree to step through the portal and act as a vanguard while the others regroup and prepare to send reinforcements to defend the Mushroom Kingdom.
Requirements:
-
good audio quality; I hold myself to pretty high standards when it
comes to the visuals so I'm going to have to expect the same from the
audio. I won't consider auditions with lots of background
noise/distortion/echo.
- this series is ongoing and will run for a few more years at least so please keep that in mind when auditioning for recurring characters
- good
communication; I had projects stuck in limbo and fall apart because
voice actors didn't respond or disappeared completely. I know that most
of us have busy schedules so if you can't make a deadline it's not the
end of the world. But I will at least expect you to respond to my emails
in a timely manner and let me know if you need more time to do your
lines. Communication is key!

Deadline is only a week from now as this is an emergency re-cast and production on the episode is supposed to start soon. The deadline will be extended if I feel it's necessary.

Main Character
The “Veteran"
He's been around since the very first tournament and along with Fox is the one most knowledgable about the Convergence.
This version of the captain is a bit different than the usual overly energetic, reckless, kinda stupid one found in most machinima. He's far more composed and acts more mature. He's been around, he's seen stuff.
Voice: Medium-low to Low;
Captain Falcon has played a major role in the previous two episodes and will continue to do so for the rest of the series. As such I would prefer if his new voice was similar to his old one. I've compiled some of his lines in this video for you to get an idea.
I'm obviously not expecting you to sound exactly like the old voice but I'm looking for someone that can do a similar style: rough and mature (the direction given in the original casting call was "something along the lines of DBZ dub Piccolo).

Falcon Punch!
[kinda obvious, I know but it's his signature attack so I need to make sure it's delivered properly =P]
Minor Character
Unlike most characters in the series, Captain Toad is not really fighter. That doesn't mean he hasn't seen his share of adventure. In fact he's been through a host of dangerous situations in his never-ending quest for ancient artifacts and treasure. These experiences have caused him to become quite hardened. Think of him as the Indiana Jones of this series. The idea behind this character is to create a contrast between his happy, cutesy appearance and the way he acts/talks.
Voice: I don't have a specific voice in mind for him. Only pointer I can give is that I'd prefer to not have a generic high-pitched Toad voice as it wouldn't really fit his conept. Other than that go crazy, I'm looking forward to hearing different interpretations of the character!
Note: Depending on how well the character works out and how he is recieved by the audience he could become a recurring character throughout the current arc.

Minor Character
As the name suggests he's the chancelor of the Mushroom kingdom, second-in-command and advisor to Peach. He's a very minor character, poor guy doesn't even get a name. The chancelor appears in one scene of episode 3 to inform Peach of Ganondor's invasion and will maybe make another very short appearance in episode 4. So if you can only stay on the project for one episode it's not the end of the world.
Voice: I don't have any preferences for his voice. You can make him sound elderly, or British or something else entirely.

That is all true but I still believe it’s a poor decision.
