Hey guys! I am looking for a group of people who would like to help me voice the cutscenes of Donut County! I am a very big fan of the game and want to bring new life to the cutscenes by putting voices over them, so people can experience the story with emotion and DRAMA!
If you don't know Donut County, it is a relatively short indie puzzle game revolving around a raccoon who pilots holes, slowly swallowing everything in town and the fallout that happens because of that.
There will obviously be spoilers for the game if you are cast, so if you want to not be spoiled on this amazing game, I would recommend playing it first! It is only about 2 hours long and well worth it!
Everyone is welcome to come and audition but please keep these requirements in mind!
-Please have a microphone that is of good quality
-Reading lines twice is not required, but recommended!
-Be willing to communicate with me through discord if you are accepted, and have the ability to redo your lines if there was a mistake
-Have the ability to commit to a project that may take a month or two
-Have PayPal if you are auditioning for a paid role
-Please, have fun with the character! Like I said this game isn't voiced so a lot of my descriptions will just be on my personal feelings about them. If you have a better idea or voice, feel free to try it out! I will be looking for one that I think really just clicks with the character. I will also mark the character I think have more room to wiggle around with so keep a look out for that at the end of their descriptions!
Once I get all the lines and everything done, these videos will be uploaded to a YouTube channel for everyone to see!

BK is your average gamer raccoon who wears a bandana. He is a bit full of himself, often either not understanding the problems he is causing for others or just not wanting to acknowledge it. He is a funny guy but not the smartest. He drives holes all over the city slowly destroying everything and has trouble coming to terms with the idea that it is actually his fault. He is pretty obsessed with technology and his best friend is Mira. BK is a leading role so will have a large amount of lines so be prepared for that if casted.
Luckily, BK is the one voice we actually know what it should sound like as he does speak in the trailer of the game.

Do your best to sound like the character in the commercial (the one with the bandana), but I am not fully attached to that. If you can think of something that fits him better, feel free to try it out and I may like it!

(Very upset and in shock after Mira smashes his favorite thing he had been working so hard to get)
Mira... how... HOW COULD YOU SMASH MY QUADCOPTER???!!!
Mira is BK's friend, she's a teenager who works at a donut shop. She is the straight-man to BK's antics and tries to get him to see all the destruction he has caused to the town. She really cares about her friends but does what she has to to make them realize the truth. Mira has a dry humor and likes to tease her friends. She is able to stand up in the face of danger and take charge, to make sure that the right side wins. Mira is the second lead so if you are casted be prepared for that.
I imagine Mira's voice to be that of a rather unenthused teenager with a sassy wit to her. I kind of imagine her sounding similar to April Ludgate's voice in Parks and Rec, but not exactly. She is a bit of a punk too and spunky so try and picture how she would sound based on her appearance and her personality.
(Grumpy in the morning after being awoken by honking delivery driver)

BK. Here's a tip. You're feeling guilty. I don't blame you for everything raccoons do. But if you want to be friends with me, don't make your guilt my problem. Oh yeah and... Wash my car. Also give my dog a bath.
(Annoyed and angry at BK for what he has done)
Who cares about your stupid quadcopter!!!! HOW COULD YOU DESTROY THE ENTIRE TOWN?????
Potter is an innocent and humble adult who just really cares about his son, Pup, and his pottery. All of his pottery was destroyed due to BK's actions and his son was sent into a hot air balloon, all by himself, adrift amongst the winds. Despite all that BK has done, he doesn't get angry with him, but more upset that his son is missing.
I imagine Potter sounding like a stern adult with a lot of worry and anxiety over the fact that all his favorite pottery and his son are now either smashed or missing. He doesn't seem to get mad, he just seems to get upset at himself. There are a lot of places you can go with this character, so feel free to experiment with what is given!
(Accusing BK of opening holes all over town, quite upset)
BK, It's obvious that you did it. I got swallowed by a hole right after I ordered a donut from your shop.
(Speaking out-loud his worries of where his son is)
Oh, Pup... My sweet puppin' boy...
(Talking about his lost son who went up in a hot air balloon, very close to crying)
I just wanted to surprise Pup with a donut. *sniff* Now he's floating away... A lone Pup.
Helen is the park ranger of Donut County. She sits up on a big wooden guard post keeping an eye out for snakes to capture to keep people safe. She is generally very laid back and carefree, besides the one thing that makes her very anxious, which ironically is snakes. She is pretty embarrassed by the fact that she has a job getting rid of snakes when they make her extremely anxious.
For Helen's voice, I imagine a young adult female voice that is a bit higher than average. She is pretty carefree and not the smartest cookie so make sure to show that in her voice too. I also imagine her voice gets more high pitched when she gets embarrassed.
(Confused and interrupting a pretty long conversation about how Pup is in a hot air balloon, she may have been daydreaming and just snapped out of it)

(Admitting why she was distracted and didn't see where Pup went, and embarrassingly admitting her fear. Sidenote: Say lol, don't actually laugh)

(Finally catching on and accusing BK of the destruction of her station)

Salt is the dopey brother of Pepper. He is in-love and obsessed with a bird. This has put a barrier between him and his sister as they seem to constantly get into fights. This last fight has Salt move out to his little trailer, so he could be closer to the bird, to admire it.
Salt has sort of an older brother low pitched voice with a bit of dopeyness to it. I kind of picture it as a less cartoony and slightly less dopey Patrick Star from Spongebob. He can also act like a child when confronting his sister about things, sounding like a child who thinks he has won an argument.
(Mocking his sister when she tries to correct him about the telescope actually being hers)

(Explaining to the group why he moved out, very nonchalant)
Well me and Pepper were feudin' again, so I moved my trailer to Mint River.
(Lovestruck talking about the bird, then snaps himself out of it to get back to his story.)

Pepper is the younger brother of Salt, like his name, he's a little spicy. He is a bit of a drama queen, admitting that because of a difference he smashed his brothers lava lamp and ate all the lava (but we all know that's the best part) Pepper holds himself a bit higher than Salt because he would never fall in-love with a bird like his dopey brother. But he secretly still has an obsession with them, and a lot of hiding that turns into anger towards his brother. He, however, does have a soft heart behind his exterior as he did care enough to write an apology letter to his brother before he was sucked down into the hole.
I am having a bit of trouble figuring out what kind of voice I want for Pepper, so I would try whatever you think would fit with the description that was given. I honestly thought he was a girl until going back and realizing he wasn't so maybe a bit of an effeminate voice, mixed with his drama queen attitude and maybe a bit of tsundere-ness thrown on top. Try what you think fits best!
(Being very sassy to his brother, trying to expose him to the rest of the group)

Coyote is a middle aged man who now lives out in the country. He was the original owner of the donut shop that BK works at, but had to sell it once the raccoons moved into town. Coyote is a very honest worker who is down on his luck after losing his business for the second time as BK just swallowed it with his hole. He seems to be out of hope and hiding from the world.
I imagine coyotes voice to be that of a Country man. Someone who stays out on the farm all day working, who has a lot of southern hospitality. However he has been pushed to his limits so his voice is missing some of that pep it once had.
(Surprising everyone by popping out of a tent, loss of hope in his voice)

Nicky is an elderly man who is madly in-love with his wife for 40 years, Roma. He enjoys the simple things in life, and came to donut county to retire. One of his favorite activities is watching his bunnies with his wife. Nicky and Roma are that cute old couple that everyone strives to be.
Nicky sounds like a sweet old man with no hate in his heart. Just a simple plain old man with a lot of love. Feel free to put your own spin on him!
(Holding his wife by his side, happy about his situation despite it being terrible)

Roma is the elderly wife of Nicky. She is an adorable grandma who is just cute as a button. She retired to donut county to watch the bunnies with her husband and enjoys her life very much. She doesn't care she was just sucked into a giant hole, shes just happy to be with the man she loves!
Roma sounds like a cute elderly woman that we all want. The kind that bakes you cookies and lets you watch tv all day. She has a nice cheery voice that is warm with love for her husband. Just act like you are living a happy life that you have no regrets about

Morsel is that shady middle aged guy who tries to act cool and runs the illegal fireworks shop down the street. He does it in a discreet location so that the cops don't notice him and tries to lie about it being an upright business. He is a bit of a slimeball and knows this himself. He tries to act threatening, but his appearance really isn't that threatening, being a short man with a broken leg.
Morsel should have a shady slimeball kind of look. Maybe he over projects because of how small he is, or tries to sound cooler than he really is. He is around middle age and is good at lying. Feel free to have some fun with his voice and see what fits him!
(Nonchalantly as someone asks him what he does)

(Trying to cover his tracks when someone asks if that is legal)
Oh, No. I run my business completely above board. I have the most permits in Donut County.
(Acting innocent at the beginning, right after the I was thinking sentence he becomes very threatening and slimy with this blackmail, then goes back to innocent with the Just saying, as a friend part)
You know, I was thinking... I sure hope you don't mention anything to the cops about my explosives business. They would probably be pretty shocked to hear who destroyed the 405... And all the other stuff you guys blew up, You know? Just saying. As a friend.
Coco is the friendly neighbor who likes to take care of his lawn, fall asleep in the day, and take care of his friends. He is a happy and friendly guy, the kind who would greet his neighbor every morning. He doesn't have a son but he seems like a father figure towards Mira and BK a bit, calling Mira out on not coming forward with information and being stern with them when they have messed up. In the end however, he is forgiving but in due time, he still cares for these rascals anyway.
Coco should sound like a friendly neighborhood dad, kinda like from a sitcom. He should have a friendly and playful demeanor but be able to get serious and stern when the time comes. Feel free to experiment with this one!
(Joking with Mira as she asks him how many snakes would it take to defeat him, he is pretending to be serious)

Jellybean is the woman who own a chicken farm on the edge of town. She really cares about her chickens, especially her most loved hen, Dollop. She is constantly petting her to make sure she is okay, especially after she fell on some tough times and had to sell her prized rooster which greatly upset Dollop. Jellybean is sweet and kind, but also full of sass!
Jellybean should sound like a middle aged mom, she doesn't have any children, unless chickens count. The kind of mom who talks to the cashier at the grocery store for too long. She should sound very kind and lovey dovey, but also playful when her sassy parts are around. Feel free to experiment with her!

Bearclaw is the man who lives out in the woods, trying to make money by harvesting honey from giant bees. He is pretty high strung from constantly being in danger, but a man has got to make him money. He has his pride though as he is very upset that BK saved him from getting chased by bees as he wanted to get out of it himself. However in the end, he finds some stress relieved as BK introduced him to a pretty cool frog.
What I imagine Bearclaw to sound like is a middle aged man who is very clearly stressed out and maybe even his voice cracks a couple times. He is a bit over-dramatic and high strung. He is also a weirdo who lives in the woods by himself, so he could have any kind of accent if you want to throw that in there. But also there is one line where he finally is able to calm down from being stressed out, to enjoy the frog.
(Over-dramatic, scoffing at BK's statement that BK saved him from bees by sucking him into a hole)

(Explaining to the others how its just a normal thing that he gets hunt by bees, very obviously stressed out by it)

Chef is the washed up owner of a restaurant called Cat Soup. It has a terrible bug problem and has given people food poisoning multiple times. Chef appears to have an appreciation for food but doesn't really seem to care about cleaning his restaurant or trying that hard with his food. He is a bit of a lazy bum.
I picture Chef with a generic Italian chef accent. The kind you would hear when a man would say, "That's a spicy meatball!" But he always has a bit of a frown on his face so make him sound just a little sad in addition to that.
(Dramatic and sad, accusing BK of what he did)

Ehhhhhh. I don't know. I feel like they're kind of a secret ingredient now.
Possum is the neighborhood weirdo that no one wants to talk to. He spends his time typing on 3 laptops at the same time for maximum hacking power. He frequents the dark web and is always talking about conspiracy theories and how people shouldn't believe everything they see. Needless to say he has very little friends and often even takes pictures of people to keep in his room, unsure for conspiracy reasons or because he is lonely. Despite being very weird, he is very helpful to the BK and Mira, helping them hack into many systems and grant justice to all the people who have been sucked up.
Possum should sound like a weird, creepy teenager. Someone who is shady and tries to act cool, but is a pretty big wimp. The rest is up to you! Try whatever kind of voices around this you see fit.
(After being thrown into a big hollow pit, he believes he is completely right about the world being hollow and is overjoyed. He has kind of a TAKE THAT WORLD attitude to what he's saying)

I need 3 different voices for the scene where they use a police scanner. They only save a couple lines each and that is it for them. I just want 2 professional sounding policemen and 1 professional sounding police woman and I will assign you one of these lines if you are cast!

Trash King is the antagonist of the story. He is forcing people out of their homes with his hole drivers and is stopping BK from saving his friends. He basically runs the entire town and sits on his own thrown of trash. Trash King is very stinky. He constantly has his hand inside of a pickle jar grabbing 1 big pickle he can't seem to get out, but tries to play it off as an inspiration thing, but he's just an idiot. He is like a young CEO of a business whose dad gave it to him, he doesn't really know what he's doing but knows he can butter people up with promises of power and uses that to his advantage when trying to win over BK.
Trash King should sound like an young buffoon CEO who is really confident in himself but has nothing to back himself up with that. The closest I can think to this is someone like Zapp Brannigan, don't use his voice exactly but use it as an inspiration for this character. He should sound like he is brimming with confidence to try and pave over any mistake he makes.
(Denying the situation at hand and lying really bad)
