Done With Dungeons; Book 1- An Explorer's Call
Project Overview
An Explorer’s Call-A FUTURE COMIC DUB OR AUDIOBOOK
A Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Inspired Story
Three years ago, Grandmaster Kerial Soulstrike—Hisuian Zoroark, legendary rescuer, and founder of Team Sonder—vanished. Tired of fame, pressure, and the weight of leadership, he walked away from the team that had become his family and the city that once celebrated him.
Now a single letter from an old friend pulls him back to Vast, a metropolis that has grown far beyond the quiet town he left behind. Reunion is anything but simple. Old teammates wait with open arms, buried resentments, and questions he isn’t ready to answer. Among them is Jem, the Sneasler who stepped into his role—and into a place in his heart he never admitted out loud.
But the world has changed. A new prime minister moves against exploration teams with cold efficiency, and darker forces stir in the shadows of the city. As Kerial is drawn once more into the life he tried to abandon, he must decide whether the explorer who once answered every call still has the strength—and the heart—to answer this one.
Adventure, loyalty, and the cost of walking away collide in the first volume of Done with Dungeons.

Core Identity
Kerial is a tall, imposing Hisuian Zoroark (Normal/Ghost) and the original founder + Grandmaster-ranked leader of Team Sonder. He is a legendary Explorer known as the “Outlaws’ Grim Reaper.” He stepped down three years before the story begins because fame, endless paperwork, and the pressure of being the face of the team burned him out. He retreated into isolation, only returning when an old friend (Rainer) dragged him back.
He is roughly mid-to-late 20s during the main story (later reflects at age 38). He wears a distinctive purple explorer’s cape/scarf, some baggy daded black-purple jeans, and no shirt.
Personality SummaryKerial is a walking contradiction:
Public legend / Private softie: The public sees a near-mythical Grandmaster. In private he is awkward, guilt-ridden, easily flustered, and hates attention.
Reluctant leader: He constantly tries to avoid responsibility at first. Once he accepts the role again, the leadership switch flips hard — posture straightens, voice drops, and he becomes commanding and slightly theatrical.
Protective to a fault: Threaten his team (especially Jem) and he becomes genuinely dangerous. He is willing to risk everything for them, even after abandoning them for three years.
Self-loathing + dry humor: He carries heavy guilt about leaving. He covers it with sarcasm, self-deprecation, and teasing banter (especially with Rainer).
Soft romantic core: Hopelessly in love with Jem (a Sneasler). He is terrible at hiding it, gets flustered easily around her, and becomes unusually gentle and vulnerable when they are alone.
Base voice: Slightly raspy, mid-to-low register. Warm but tired when casual.
Casual / Banter mode (with friends): Informal, slightly lazy, teasing, often muttering under his breath. Think “exhausted older brother who still can’t resist roasting people.”
Serious / Leader mode: Voice drops, becomes silkier and more controlled. He deliberately deepens it and can even slip into a mild falsetto for dramatic effect when intimidating people. Posture and presence change completely.
Emotional range:
Quiet guilt / vulnerability (soft, almost broken)
Flustered romantic (higher pitch, stumbling, embarrassed)
Protective rage (sharp, low, genuinely threatening)
Dry deadpan humor
Rare full laughter (he actually laughs harder than almost anyone else when something genuinely cracks him up)
Key performance tip: The contrast between “tired private Kerial” and “Grandmaster Soulstrike” is the most important part of the character. The moment he decides to take something seriously, the entire energy shifts.
Relationships That Shape His VoiceJem (Sneasler): Softens dramatically. He becomes gentler, more honest, and easily flustered. Pet names and quiet affection come out around her.
Rainer (Greninja): Classic best-friend energy. Constant teasing, light arguing, and easy banter. Rainer is one of the few people who can fully get under his skin in a good way.
The rest of the original team: Protective older-brother energy mixed with lingering guilt.
Strangers / fans / authority figures: Guarded, short, and sometimes cold until he decides they are safe.
Reluctant return – Tired, slightly annoyed, trying to stay detached.
Seeing Jem again – Soft shock → awkwardness → quiet longing.
Leadership switch – Casual tone drops into calm, low, slightly theatrical authority.
Protective rage (especially against Gripper) – Controlled fury that can tip into raw emotion.
Vulnerability / apology – Quiet, honest, almost breaking.
Banter with Rainer or Jem – Light, teasing, occasionally flustered.

(Dry and Reluctant): "I'm...uh...just existing, I guess."
(Serious): “I, considering I know myself very well, would hope that I am still standing here… So, I would be glad that you could recognise my presence.”
(Emotional and Vulnerable): “I DID IT BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!”
Core Identity
Jem is a Sneasler (Poison/Fighting) and the current acting leader of Team Sonder. She took over after Kerial disappeared for three years and successfully kept the team alive and growing during that time. She is Grandmaster-ranked, highly competent, and deeply respected by the team.
She is sleek, elegant, and physically strong, with a sharp personality that softens dramatically around the people she loves — especially Kerial.
Personality SummaryJem is a mix of steel and softness:
Tough exterior: Blunt, sharp-tongued, quick-tempered, and not afraid to slap or scold people (especially Kerial). She does not tolerate nonsense.
Capable leader: She held Team Sonder together for three years under pressure. She is practical, decisive, and protective of her team.
Emotionally intense: She feels things deeply. Her anger, affection, and vulnerability all come out strongly.
Teasing & affectionate: Once her guard drops, she becomes playful, teasing, and physically affectionate. She has a habit of playing with Kerial’s fur and using pet names like “Ke-Ke” / “Keke” and “lover boy.”
Loyal to a fault: She was devastated when Kerial left, but still loves him deeply. Her anger toward him comes from how much she cares.
Terrible morning person: Needs serious bribing (or force) to get out of bed.
Base voice: Clear, feminine, and confident. Not soft or high-pitched — she has presence.
Casual / Banter mode: Playful, teasing, slightly singsong when she’s in a good mood. Can turn sharp very quickly.
Angry / Leadership mode: Strong, cutting, and authoritative. She doesn’t raise her volume much — the intensity comes from the edge in her voice.
Soft / Romantic mode: Noticeably gentler and warmer. Her voice drops in volume and gains a softer, more intimate quality when she’s alone with Kerial or being vulnerable.
Key trait: She switches emotional gears fast. One moment she’s scolding him, the next she’s kissing him or leaning on him affectionately.
Kerial: The person she softens for the most. Around him she can go from furious → teasing → deeply tender in seconds.
Rainer: Easy banter and mutual respect. She treats him like a close (if annoying) friend.
The team: Protective older-sister / leader energy. She is firm but caring.
Typhoon: Close enough that Typhoon was ready to fight Kerial on her behalf.
Angry / Hurt – Sharp, controlled, and cutting (especially when confronting Kerial about leaving).
Teasing / Playful – Light, slightly singsong, with a smirk in the voice.
Soft / Vulnerable – Quiet, warm, and honest.
Leadership – Clear, firm, and no-nonsense.
Affectionate – Gentle and intimate, especially when using pet names.

Sharp, Hurt, and Angry: "That was for dumping me, your friends, and your team for almost 3 and a half years!”
Romantic, more Soft: "You're...kinda hot in that. I'm not gonna lie."
Teasing, Playful: “What, and to think you’ve had a crush on me for the longest time?”
Core Identity
Rainer is a Greninja (Water/Dark) and one of the three original founders of Team Sonder alongside Kerial and Jem. He is Grandmaster-ranked and currently serves as second-in-command. He is the one who wrote the letter that brought Kerial back after three years of silence.
He is the team’s charismatic, mischievous, and endlessly loyal best friend — the guy who will roast you mercilessly one second and risk his life for you the next.
Personality SummaryRainer is pure chaotic good energy:
Playful & Teasing: He lives to banter. He constantly teases Kerial about his crush on Jem, teases Jem about Kerial, and generally keeps the mood light even in serious situations.
Loyal to the core: Beneath the jokes, he is deeply devoted to his friends. He spent three years trying to bring Kerial home and was the one who promised Jem he would succeed.
Smooth & Charismatic: He has a silver tongue. He can haggle, intimidate, or charm his way out of (or into) almost anything. He’s dramatic, expressive, and enjoys being the center of attention when it suits him.
Physical & Affectionate: Unlike Kerial, Rainer is very touchy — he hugs, punches shoulders, and invades personal space without shame.
Can switch to serious instantly: When the situation demands it (battle, protecting the team, or confronting a real threat), the playful attitude drops and he becomes focused, sharp, and dangerous.
Slightly dramatic: He enjoys theatrics and isn’t afraid to be over-the-top when the moment calls for it.
Base voice: Energetic, warm, and lively. Medium pitch with a smooth, confident quality.
Casual / Banter mode: Playful, teasing, slightly sing-song or smug. He often sounds like he’s grinning while talking.
Serious mode: The smile leaves the voice. It becomes lower, clearer, and more controlled — still smooth, but no longer joking.
Emotional / Loyal mode: Sincere and steady. When he’s being genuine (especially about Kerial or the team), the teasing drops and you hear real care.
Key trait: He should always sound like he’s enjoying himself… until suddenly he isn’t. The contrast between “class clown” and “deadly serious” is important.
Kerial: Best friend energy. Constant teasing mixed with deep loyalty. He is one of the very few people who can freely give Kerial shit and get away with it.
Jem: Close friend and co-conspirator. He teases her about Kerial but also supports their relationship. Respects her as a leader.
The rest of the team: Friendly, big-brother / cool older teammate energy. He gets along with almost everyone.
Playful teasing – Smug, amused, and relentless.
Loyal / Sincere – Quietly serious and genuine.
Protective / Serious – Calm, sharp, and focused.
Dramatic / Smooth – Charismatic and a bit theatrical (especially when intimidating someone or being extra).

Playful: “Hey man, us boys all know about your crush! All the males of the original gang know!”
Loyal: “I promised I’d get him back for you.”
Serious and Smooth: “Listen here, punk. I don’t think you like this whole inflation and whatever. Maybe if you just let us through with the original price, we’ll get along just fine.”
Core Identity
Radar is a Leafeon (Grass-type) and the fourth member to join Team Sonder. She is Master-ranked and one of the core members of the original team. Athletic, energetic, and deeply loyal, she is the warm, affectionate heart of the group — the one most likely to tackle someone in a hug or call them out when they’re being emotionally closed-off.
Personality SummaryRadar is bright, physical, and emotionally open:
Affectionate & Physical: She expresses herself through touch. When she sees Kerial again after three years, she launches herself at him in a near-strangling hug. She is the most openly warm member of the team.
Energetic & Enthusiastic: High-spirited and expressive. She gets excited easily and wears her heart on her sleeve.
Perceptive & Caring: She notices when something is off with Kerial (“He’s got something he’s hiding. I can tell.”) and is quick to worry about or protect her teammates.
Teasing but soft: She teases her friends, but never with the sharp edge that Jem or Rainer sometimes have. Her teasing comes from affection.
Loyal & Protective: She will literally try to restrain Kerial with vines if she thinks he’s about to do something reckless. She cares deeply and isn’t afraid to show it.
Emotionally reactive: She cries when she’s scared for someone she loves and celebrates openly when things go well.
Base voice: Bright, feminine, and energetic. Clear and lively without being overly high-pitched.
Excited / Happy mode: Higher energy, warmer, and more animated. She can get genuinely squeaky or breathless when overwhelmed with emotion (especially reunions).
Concerned / Protective mode: Softer and more serious. The brightness dims and she becomes earnest and firm. This is her go to attitude to everything.
Teasing mode: Playful and light, with a smile in the voice. Never mean-spirited.
Key trait: Radar should always feel emotionally available. Even when she’s being firm or teasing, the underlying warmth and care should still be audible.
Kerial: Big soft spot. She is openly happy he’s back, physically affectionate, and protective of him. Later she even starts calling him “Keke.”
Jem & Rainer: Comfortable, sibling-like banter. She fits easily into the core trio’s dynamic.
The rest of the team: Friendly, supportive, and quick to jump in when someone needs help or emotional backup.
Excited / Overjoyed – High energy, warm, and physical.
Concerned / Protective – Soft but firm, earnest.
Teasing / Playful – Light and affectionate.
Emotional / Vulnerable – Open and sincere (she doesn’t hide when she’s scared or moved).

Core Identity
King Screw is a Magnezone (Electric/Steel) and the primary technician + analyst of Team Sonder. He is highly skilled in decoding, interpreting data, and providing tactical support. While not one of the original three founders, he is a long-standing and deeply trusted core member. He floats solemnly, speaks with precision, and is one of the most reliable (if socially awkward) members of the team.
Personality SummaryKing Screw is logical, formal, and understated:
Precise & Analytical: He thinks in probabilities, data, and efficiency. He often phrases things in a formal, almost procedural way (“I move that we reinstate Kerial…”).
Monotone / Dry: His default delivery is flat and measured. Emotion is present but heavily restrained. When he does show feeling, it stands out.
Subtly Sarcastic: He has a quiet, deadpan sense of humor. He can deliver a cutting or dry remark without raising his voice.
Loyal & Practical: He supports the team in the most useful way possible. He doesn’t do big emotional displays, but he consistently shows up and calculates the best path forward.
Socially Stiff: He is not great at casual conversation and can come across as blunt or robotic. He does not soft-pedal the truth.
Rare Intensity: When pushed (especially in battle or when protecting teammates), his composure cracks and he can become surprisingly forceful or even curse.
Base voice: Low-to-mid, steady, and controlled. Near-monotone with a slight mechanical or buzzing quality underneath.
Default mode: Formal, precise, and calm. Every word feels deliberate.
Dry humor mode: The same flat delivery, but with the tiniest shift that makes the sarcasm land.
Serious / Intense mode: The monotone hardens. Volume doesn’t necessarily rise, but the weight and clarity increase. Rare moments of frustration can sound sharper or more forceful.
Key trait: Restraint is everything. Most of his personality lives in the small variations within a mostly flat delivery. When he breaks that restraint, it should feel meaningful.
Kerial: Respectful and supportive in a formal way. He was one of the first to formally move for Kerial’s reinstatement.
The team (Jem, Rainer, Radar etc): Treats them as reliable colleagues. He is more comfortable with them than with outsiders, but still keeps a certain distance.
In battle / crisis: Becomes more direct and commanding. The formality stays, but the urgency increases.
Formal / Analytical – Precise and measured.
Dry / Deadpan – Flat delivery with quiet irony.
Intense / Protective – Controlled but heavier, with rare cracks of real force.

Formal and Logical: “Typhoon, I move that we reinstate Kerial as one of us, and he may lead us once more with the same valour and bravery we knew 3 years ago… Or is that simply an overstatement?”
Deadpan, Dry Humour: “I have magnets for hands!”
Rare Intensity: “DAMNED MOUNTAIN CLIMBER!”
Core Identity
Typhoon is a large, powerful Dragonite (Dragon/Flying) and the Aerial Ops Chief of Team Sonder. She is also the team’s main cook when she’s not on missions. Hulking, passionate, and fiercely loyal, she is one of the most physically imposing and emotionally intense members of the group. She does not hide how she feels — especially when someone she cares about has been hurt.
Personality SummaryTyphoon is fire wrapped in scales:
Hot-tempered & Protective: She holds grudges hard. When Kerial returns, her first instinct is to attack him for what he put Jem through. She is extremely protective of the people she loves and does not forgive easily.
Blunt & Direct: She says exactly what she thinks. No sugarcoating. If she’s angry, you will know.
Loyal to a fault: Once someone is “hers,” she will go to war for them. Her anger at Kerial comes from how deeply she cares about Jem and the original team.
Passionate & Physical: She expresses herself with volume, force, and presence. Even when she’s not fighting, she takes up space.
Begrudgingly soft underneath: After Jem orders her to stand down, she complies… but she still mutters and side-eyes. She can respect strength and consistency, even if she’s not ready to fully forgive.
Takes pride in her roles: Both as a fighter and as the one who feeds the team.
Base voice: Strong, rich, and powerful. Lower-to-mid feminine register with natural weight and resonance.
Angry mode: Loud, sharp, and forceful. She doesn’t need to scream to sound dangerous — the intensity and grit do the work.
Grudging / Reluctant mode: Still rough around the edges, but quieter. Mutters, scoffs, and delivers lines with clear residual irritation.
Respectful / Softened mode: The fire lowers but never fully goes out. She can sound almost warm… while still sounding like she could throw you through a wall.
Key trait: Typhoon should always feel big. Even her quieter lines should carry presence. When she’s angry, the room should feel smaller.
Jem: Deeply protective. Her anger at Kerial is largely on Jem’s behalf. She listens to Jem even when she doesn’t want to.
Kerial: Complicated. She starts at pure hostility and only slowly, begrudgingly moves toward tolerance and eventual respect.
The rest of the team: Warm and solid with those she trusts. She is the type to cook for everyone and then threaten to fight anyone who hurts them.
Furious / Protective – Raw, forceful, and personal.
Grudging compliance – Irritated, muttering, still carrying heat.
Begrudging respect – Rough but honest, with the anger only partially cooled.

Core Identity
Tracker is a Lucario and one half of the duo known as “the twins” (alongside Freit the Zeraora), even though they aren’t actually related. They were both fanboys of Kerial back at the Explorer’s University and joined Team Sonder later. Tracker is the slightly more grounded and responsible of the two, though he’s still energetic, loyal, and openly admiring of the original members — especially Kerial.
Personality SummaryTracker is eager, loyal, and a bit of a golden retriever in spirit:
Enthusiastic & Loyal: He looks up to Kerial and the original team a lot. When he sees Kerial again, he’s loud, happy, and quick to greet him.
Slightly Over-Eager: He can be a bit much — talking too loudly, getting excited easily, and sometimes needing to be reined in (usually by Freit or someone else).
The “Straight Man” of the pair: Between him and Freit, Tracker is the one more likely to scold his partner for bad manners (“Talk with your mouth empty, not full”).
Respectful toward leadership: He treats Kerial, Jem, and Rainer with clear respect and a touch of hero-worship.
Good-hearted & Straightforward: He’s not particularly complicated or brooding. What you see is mostly what you get — earnest, energetic, and solid.
Base voice: Clear, energetic, and youthful. Medium pitch with good projection.
Excited mode: Louder, brighter, and a bit runaway. He doesn’t always control his volume when he’s happy to see someone.
Scolding / Responsible mode: Still energetic, but firmer and more pointed (especially toward Freit).
Respectful mode: A noticeable step up in politeness and earnestness when speaking to Kerial or the senior members.
Key trait: Tracker should feel like the eager younger teammate who still gets a bit starstruck around the originals. His energy is warm and genuine, not smug.
Freit: He nags him like a father but clearly cares about him deeply, as they're twins.
Kerial: Open admiration and respect. He’s happy and a little loud when reuniting with him.
The rest of the senior team: Polite, eager to help, and quick to fall in line.
Excited / Happy reunion – Loud, warm, and a bit over-the-top.
Scolding Freit – Firm but still brotherly.
Respectful toward leadership – Earnest and slightly formal.

Excited, Loud Reunion: "Oh! Kerial! Nice to see you, mate!"
Scolding his brother: "Oy, Freit! Talk with your mouth empty, not full!"
Earnest/Respectful: "Could I just express how happy I am to be serving under you, sir?"
Core Identity
Freit is a Zeraora and the more chaotic half of “the twins” alongside Tracker the Lucario (they aren’t actually related, but the team treats them like brothers, as Freit was adopted by Tracker's parents in the past). Both were big fans of Kerial back at the Explorer’s University. Where Tracker is the slightly more responsible one, Freit is the impulsive, hyper, and physically affectionate troublemaker of the pair.
Personality SummaryFreit is pure chaotic energy:
Hyper & Impulsive: He acts first and thinks later. When he sees Kerial again, he immediately jumps over and starts examining his mane without asking.
Playful & Physical: Very hands-on. He invades personal space easily and expresses excitement through movement and touch.
Less Filtered: He’s the one talking with his mouth full, starting silly arguments with Tracker, and generally being a bit of a handful.
Loyal & Eager: Underneath the chaos, he still deeply respects Kerial and the senior members. His excitement comes from genuine admiration.
Brotherly dynamic with Tracker: They bicker constantly, but it’s clearly affectionate. Freit often needs to be told off by Tracker and rarely takes it seriously.
Base voice: Bright, energetic, and a bit rougher or more youthful than Tracker’s. Higher energy overall.
Excited mode: Fast, loud, and runaway. He can get carried away quickly.
Playful / Teasing mode: Smug or cheeky, especially when winding Tracker up.
Respectful mode: Still energetic, but he tries (with mixed success) to tone it down around Kerial and the leaders.
Key trait: Freit should feel like he’s always slightly in motion — even his voice has a restless, bouncing quality. He’s the one who makes Tracker look calm by comparison.
Tracker: Constant brotherly bickering. He winds him up on purpose and doesn’t take scolding too seriously.
Kerial: Open, almost puppy-like admiration mixed with zero personal-space awareness.
The senior team: Eager to impress, but his natural chaos often leaks through.
Hyper excitement – Fast, physical, and over-the-top.
Cheeky / Winding Tracker up – Playful and unapologetic.
Trying (and failing) to be respectful – Energetic sincerity with poor volume control.

Core Identity
Aluthorn is a Scolipede and one of the longest-standing members of Team Sonder. He is a Pokémon of very few words — quiet, observant, and deeply loyal. He invented the team’s signature salute (a finger circling the eye) and is the one who quietly kept Kerial’s old Team Leader badge safe for three years before returning it to him.
He communicates more through presence and action than speech.
Personality SummaryAluthorn is the definition of understated:
Extremely reserved: He speaks rarely. When he does, his sentences are short, direct, and purposeful. Long conversations are not his style.
Loyal through actions: He doesn’t make big emotional speeches. Instead he keeps important things safe, briefs people properly, and shows up when it matters.
Dry and observant: He notices more than he lets on. His rare comments often carry quiet weight or very subtle dry humour.
Steady presence: He is calm, grounded, and unflappable. Even in tense moments he remains measured.
Quiet care: Returning Kerial’s badge, giving clear mission briefings, and sitting with Templorus’s body all show a deep sense of responsibility and loyalty without needing many words.
Base voice: Low, quiet, and slightly rusty/gravelly. Speaks softly and with economy.
Default mode: Minimal inflection. Short sentences. Long pauses are natural and comfortable for him.
Rare emphasis: When something matters (returning the badge, giving a serious warning), his voice gains a little more weight and clarity, but never becomes loud or dramatic.
Key trait: Silence is part of his performance. He should feel comfortable with stillness. Every word he does speak should feel deliberate and earned.
Kerial: Quiet respect and loyalty. He is one of the few who treats Kerial’s return with calm acceptance rather than big emotion.
The rest of the team: Reliable and understated. He doesn’t join in the banter much, but he is clearly trusted by everyone.
In serious moments: Becomes slightly more verbal, but still concise and practical.
Quiet & Reserved – Minimal words, calm presence.
Meaningful / Sincere – Still quiet, but with clear weight behind the words.
Subtle dry observation – Rare, understated comments that land harder because of how little he usually says.

Loudburn is a Skeledirge (Fire/Ghost) and the Executive Specialist of Team Sonder. He is one of the core long-standing members, known for his booming presence, love of soap operas, and highly theatrical personality. He is the one who makes the formal morning announcements and is quick to express big emotions — whether that’s tackling Kerial in a crushing hug or declaring things in a grand, ringing voice. His Spanish- sorry, Paldean, accent, is CRUCIAL
Personality SummaryLoudburn is big, warm, and dramatic:
Theatrical & Expressive: He does nothing small. When surprised, he tumbles off the sofa. When happy, he sings or declares things at full volume. His emotions are large and public.
Warm & Affectionate: Despite the drama, he is genuinely glad to see the old team back together. His hug for Kerial is pulverising but full of real joy.
Loves performance: He watches soap operas, mutters about singers stealing the spotlight, and treats announcements like stage performances.
Loyal and welcoming: Once he registers who’s in front of him, he is quick to embrace the return of old friends.
Deeply dramatic voice: Even casual lines can sound like they’re being delivered to the back of a theatre.
Base voice: Deep, rich baritone with natural resonance and projection. His voice is made to fill a room.
Default mode: Warm, slightly performative, and melodious. Even ordinary sentences can have a sing-song or declarative quality.
Excited / Emotional mode: Louder, more musical, and openly dramatic. He can slip into actual melodic delivery when overcome.
Announcement mode: Fully theatrical — clear, ringing, and formal, as if addressing a large audience.
Key trait: Loudburn should always feel larger than life. His voice carries emotion and volume easily. Quiet or restrained is the exception, not the rule.
Kerial & the original team: Big, sincere warmth mixed with theatrical surprise and joy.
The wider team: He acts as a kind of public voice / morale figure, comfortable speaking to everyone at once.
In quiet moments: Still warm, but the volume and drama lower slightly.
Theatrical surprise / joy – Big, ringing, and emotional.
Warm affection – Still large, but softer and more sincere.
Formal announcement – Clear, projected, and performative.

Core Identity
Meena is an Alolan Ninetales (Ice/Fairy) and a high-ranking Officer in Vast working under Prime Minister Gripper. She is an old acquaintance of Jem and Kerial from their school days (with a rather dramatic shared history involving an almost-summoned eldritch demon). She is professional, conflicted, and ultimately caught between duty and personal loyalty.
Personality SummaryMeena is composed but torn:
Professional & Duty-bound: She follows orders even when she doesn’t like them. She fights Team Sonder because Gripper promised better resources for the Officers, not out of personal hatred.
Conflicted & Reluctant: She clearly does not want to fight Jem. She greets her warmly, banters, and shows visible discomfort with the situation.
Warm with old friends: Around Jem she softens, using familiar nicknames (“Jemmy”) and showing genuine care.
Capable of darkness: When influenced by Darkrai (via spiked food), her personality shifts dramatically — she becomes aggressive, vengeful, and almost unrecognisable.
Proud but not cruel: Even in conflict she retains a sense of professionalism… until the Darkrai influence takes over.
Normal voice: Clear, feminine, and controlled. Professional with a cool, elegant quality. Warms noticeably when speaking to Jem or old friends.
Reluctant / Conflicted mode: Softer, more hesitant, with underlying tension.
Friendly / Familiar mode: Lighter and more natural, with real affection.
Darkrai-influenced mode: Voice drops into a deeper, silkier, almost baritone register. Distorted, menacing, and far more aggressive. This should feel like a different person wearing Meena’s face.
Key trait: The contrast between composed Officer Meena and Darkrai-controlled Meena is important. The shift should be unsettling.
Jem: Old friend. Softens significantly around her; the reluctance to fight is most obvious here.
Kerial: Recognises him with shock and lingering history. More formal and wary.
Gripper & the Officers: Professional and obedient, even when unhappy about orders.
Under Darkrai’s influence: Loses warmth entirely. Becomes cold, grandiose, and violent.
Professional but reluctant – Controlled, slightly tense.
Warm with an old friend – Softer and more genuine.
Darkrai-controlled – Deep, silky, and menacing.

Inluenced by an eldtritch being: “BOTH OF YOU SHALL BOW! BOW TO ME! AND TO HIS HONOUR, THE PRIME MINISTER!”
Core Identity
Ulysses M. Moontraipse is an Umbreon serving as a junior detective and officer, most often seen with Team Sonder during major events. He is a lower-ranking but present member of the organisation, frequently found in the waiting areas or support roles during high-stakes situations. He is not a frontline powerhouse; his strength lies in observation and investigative work, though he is clearly still green. He's an ex flame of Radar's.
Personality SummaryUlysses is earnest, high-strung, and easily overwhelmed:
Nervous under pressure: He stutters and falters when confronted with sudden violence or extreme situations.
Easily shocked: Graphic or unexpected events (such as Templorus’s death) hit him harder than they do the more seasoned members.
Eager but inexperienced: As a junior detective/officer, he wants to be useful and professional, but his composure cracks quickly.
Reactive rather than proactive: He is more likely to point something out in a panic than to take calm control of a situation.
Well-meaning: Despite the nerves, there is no meanness in him — just an officer still adjusting to the darker side of the job.
Base voice: Youthful, clear, and slightly higher in pitch. Should sound younger than the core Team Sonder members.
Default / Professional mode: Attempts to sound composed and official, though a slight tightness remains.
Stressed / Shocked mode: Stuttering, rushed, and higher-pitched. The nerves should feel genuine.
Frantic mode: Sudden spike in volume and urgency (e.g. his “GUYS! LOOK!” moment).
Key trait: The contrast between him trying to act like a proper junior officer and how quickly that facade breaks is central to the character.
Senior Team Sonder members: Speaks with clear deference. He is aware of his junior status.
Fellow support / lower-ranked members: Slightly more relaxed, though still prone to nerves.
In crisis: Becomes the voice of visible panic, helping sell how extreme the situation is to the audience.
Trying to stay professional – Controlled but slightly tense.
Shocked disbelief – Stuttering and unsettled.
Sudden panic – Sharp, high-energy alert.

Core Identity
Desdjardins is a Melmetal (Steel-type) and a high-ranking Officer serving under Prime Minister Gripper, working closely with Meena Frostbite. He is a massive, heavy-hitting powerhouse who is far more straightforward and grounded than his partner. He fights for practical reasons — better funding, equipment, and conditions for the Officers — rather than ideology or personal glory.
Personality SummaryDesdjardins is solid, blunt, and duty-driven:
Straightforward & Practical: He doesn’t dress things up. He wants better resources for the Officers and is willing to fight for them, even if he doesn’t particularly enjoy the situation.
Gruff but Loyal: He can complain and question orders, but once committed he follows through. He is protective of Meena and tries to stop her when Darkrai takes over.
Grounded & Physical: As an 800 kg Melmetal, he carries himself with weight — both literally and in personality. He is less elegant and more direct than Meena.
Reluctant Warrior: Like Meena, he would rather not fight Team Sonder, but he sees it as a necessary step for the greater good of the Officers.
Concerned Partner: When Meena loses control, his first instinct is to restrain her and protect her, showing real care beneath the gruff exterior.
Base voice: Deep, heavy, and solid. Lower register with natural weight and resonance.
Default mode: Blunt, slightly grumbling, and straightforward. He sounds like someone who has seen a lot and doesn’t waste words.
Complaining / Reluctant mode: Wearier, more irritated, with clear dissatisfaction.
Protective / Serious mode: Firmer and stronger. The gruffness turns into real force when Meena is in danger.
Key trait: Desdjardins should feel heavy. Even his calmer lines carry mass. He is the opposite of light or quick — everything about him has weight.
Meena: Close working partner. He defers to her somewhat but is not afraid to speak up. Genuinely protective when she is threatened or controlled.
Gripper: Obedient but not enthusiastic. He follows orders while quietly questioning the sense of them.
Team Sonder: Treats them as opponents rather than personal enemies. Professional distance mixed with reluctance.
Blunt & Reluctant – Grumbling, practical, slightly fed up.
Duty-driven – Firmer and more resolved.
Protective – Urgent and forceful when Meena is at risk.

Protective: “MEENA! HALT THAT AT ONCE!”
Core Identity
Gripper is a Gliscor and the Prime Minister of Vast. He presents himself as a somewhat eccentric, formal politician with a strange admiration for Kerial, but quickly reveals a deep-seated hatred of Exploration teams. Beneath the political exterior lies a vengeful, increasingly unhinged man driven by the loss of his family to Explorers. When pushed, he channels Darkrai and becomes something far more monstrous.
Personality SummaryGripper is a study in escalating instability:
Public Face: Formal, slightly odd, and overly enthusiastic when meeting Kerial. He invades personal space, gushes like a fanboy, and speaks with exaggerated politeness.
Authoritarian Core: Controlling, arrogant, and dismissive of Explorers. He sees them as volatile, dangerous, and unworthy of public support.
Vindictive & Manipulative: Willing to spike Meena’s food to invoke Darkrai, throw Rainer out a 100th-floor window, and openly threaten to dismantle Team Sonder.
Tragic Fuel: His hatred stems from the death of his family at the hands of Explorers. This pain is real, even if his methods are monstrous.
Darkrai-Influenced Form: Loses most of his restraint. Becomes grandiose, sadistic, and openly genocidal. His speech turns theatrical and dual-voiced.
Normal / Political mode: Precise, formal, and slightly oily. Can flip into an overly excited, almost fanboyish register when “geeked out” by Kerial.
Cold Authority mode: Sharper, colder, and more controlled. The politeness becomes a thin veneer over contempt.
Unhinged / Darkrai mode: Much deeper, layered (two voices overlapping), and grandiose. Should feel larger, more resonant, and openly menacing. This is where the performance can become truly monstrous.
Key trait: Gripper should feel like he is always performing — first as a politician, then as a tyrant. The slide from awkward formality into pure menace is the core of the character.
Kerial: Starts as obsessive admiration, then curdles into personal hatred and obsession.
Meena & Desdjardins: Treats them as useful tools. Becomes openly contemptuous when they fail him.
Team Sonder as a whole: Views them as a threat that must be broken.
Darkrai: The relationship is transactional and parasitic. Gripper believes he is in control; Darkrai does not.
Awkward / Fanboy politeness – Overly formal and invasive.
Cold political authority – Controlled, contemptuous, and sharp.
Monstrous / Darkrai-influenced – Deep, layered, and grandiose.

Awkward/Over-enthusiastic: “How interesting! Your form! Your posture! Your literal aura! It just oozes with the same energy of which you had 3 years ago!”

Monstrous/Influenced: “I now sentence you to death.”
Core Identity
Templorus is a Golurk (Ground/Ghost) who serves as an assistant and greeter in Prime Minister Gripper’s office. He is extremely polite, formal, and almost excessively helpful. Even in battle he maintains a sportsmanlike, earnest demeanour. Despite his size and power, he comes across as dutiful, slightly naive, and ultimately disposable to those above him.
Personality SummaryTemplorus is defined by rigid politeness and sincerity:
Extremely Formal & Polite: He speaks in complete, proper sentences and treats every interaction with exaggerated courtesy.
Eager to Please: He is quick to recognise important figures (especially Kerial) and goes out of his way to be helpful.
Sportsmanlike even in combat: During his fight with Typhoon he compliments her and treats the battle with genuine respect rather than malice.
Slightly Robotic Cheerfulness: His optimism and formality feel programmed or heavily conditioned — cheerful on the surface, but with little personal agency.
Tragic Undercurrent: He is ultimately discarded and killed by Gripper the moment he fails, revealing how little he truly mattered to the system he served.
Base voice: Clear, formal, and projected. Mid-to-low register with a slightly mechanical or resonant quality appropriate for a Golurk.
Default mode: Polite, earnest, and slightly overly cheerful. Every line should sound like it belongs in a formal greeting or official script.
Excited recognition mode: Still polite, but with added enthusiasm and volume when meeting someone important.
Battle mode: Retains the same formal courtesy even while fighting — respectful, determined, and never crude.
Key trait: Templorus should never sound casual. Even pain or defeat should be filtered through that same polite, structured delivery until he is no longer able to speak.
Gripper: Complete subordinate. He speaks to and about his superior with unwavering formality and loyalty.
Visitors (Kerial, Jem, etc.): Overly courteous and eager to assist.
Opponents: Respectful and sportsmanlike; he treats battle as an honourable contest rather than a personal conflict.
Formal greeting / service – Polite, structured, and helpful.
Excited recognition – Still formal, but with clear enthusiasm.
Sportsmanlike combat – Earnest, respectful, and determined.

Eternatus (Eterni)
Character Guidelines for Voice Actors
Eterni is the legendary Eternatus (Poison/Dragon) and a long-time ally of Team Sonder. He wears a torn but still recognisable Team Sonder scarf and has fought alongside them on many occasions. Despite his immense power and status as a legendary, he speaks to Kerial and the team with surprising casualness and familiarity — more like an old comrade than a distant god-like being.
Personality SummaryEterni is powerful yet approachable:
Casual with the team: He drops the legendary formality when speaking to Kerial and the others. Their conversations feel easy and familiar.
Loyal ally: He shows up when needed (both in dreams and in the final battle) and is willing to put himself on the line for Team Sonder.
Adapted to belonging: He has moved past the confusion of trying to fit in and now seems comfortable as part of the group’s extended circle.
Dry sense of humour: He can be lightly sarcastic or amused, especially when talking to Kerial.
Still carries weight: Even in casual conversation, there is an underlying sense of age, power, and presence that never fully disappears.
Base voice: Deep, resonant, and powerful. There should be a natural sense of scale and age in the voice.
Casual mode (with Kerial/team): Relaxed and conversational. The legendary weight is still there, but the delivery becomes warmer and more familiar — almost brotherly.
Serious / Battle mode: The resonance and authority increase. Lines become more measured and commanding without losing the sense of personality.
Key trait: Eterni should never sound cold or distant with the team. The contrast between his immense power and his easy way of speaking to Kerial is central to the character.
Kerial: The most familiar and relaxed dynamic. He speaks to him like an old friend who happens to be a world-ending legendary.
Team Sonder: Warm and supportive, with clear loyalty.
In combat: Focused and decisive, but still recognisably himself.
Casual / Familiar – Relaxed and almost playful with Kerial.
Reflective – A little more thoughtful when discussing change or the past.
Battle-ready – Steady, powerful, and focused.

Core Identity
Heath is a young Cyndaquil and a member of Division 14 in Team Sonder. He first meets Kerial at the Pelipper Mail Outpost when a letter gets stuck in the Zoroark’s fur. He is polite, eager, and clearly starstruck by Kerial, addressing him repeatedly as “sir.” Despite his youth and nervousness, he is already a formal member of the team.
Personality SummaryHeath is earnest, respectful, and a little overwhelmed:
Polite to a fault: He uses “sir” constantly and speaks with clear deference toward Kerial and other senior members.
Eager & Well-meaning: He means well and wants to do things correctly, even if he comes across as nervous.
Starstruck: Meeting Kerial in person clearly affects him. He is excited but tries (not always successfully) to keep it professional.
Young & Inexperienced: His energy and slightly clumsy earnestness mark him as one of the younger members of the organisation.
Loyal: Even as a lower-division member, he takes his place on the team seriously.
Base voice: Youthful, clear, and earnest. Higher energy than the older members, with a slight nervous edge.
Default mode: Polite, slightly rushed, and respectful. He often sounds like he’s trying very hard to make a good impression.
Starstruck / Nervous mode: A bit breathless or quick-spoken, with repeated “sir”s and visible eagerness.
Key trait: Heath should sound young and genuine. His respect is real, not stiff or sarcastic. Even when nervous, he remains well-intentioned.
Kerial: Heavy respect mixed with clear admiration. He is nervous but happy to be speaking to him.
Senior members in general: Deferential and eager to please.
Fellow younger members: Likely more relaxed, though we see less of this side.
Nervous / Polite first meeting – Eager and a little flustered.
Respectful explanation – Still formal, but trying to be clear and helpful.
Starstruck earnestness – Genuine admiration leaking through the politeness.

Core Identity
Harvey is a Mudsdale working as a ticket officer at the station leading to the Crimson Office. He is a tired, grumpy, low-level civil servant just trying to get through his shift under Gripper’s inflated pricing policies. He starts off dismissive and bureaucratic, but folds almost immediately when faced with real intimidation from Rainer.
Personality SummaryHarvey is small-time authority with no real power:
Grumpy & Worn-down: He sounds like someone who has dealt with too many complaints and has long since stopped caring.
Bureaucratic: He initially hides behind policy and the new prices set by Gripper.
Easily Intimidated: The moment Rainer produces a water shuriken and applies pressure, Harvey collapses and becomes nervous and overly cooperative.
Working-class realism: He is not evil or particularly competent — just a tired Pokémon trying to do a dull job under a bad system.
Base voice: Low-to-mid, tired, and slightly nasal or rough. Should sound like someone who talks to the public all day and resents it.
Default mode: Flat, unimpressed, and mildly irritated. Short sentences. Minimal effort.
Intimidated mode: Voice jumps higher and becomes hurried, nervous, and overly polite. The shift should be quick and almost comedic.
Key trait: The contrast between bored gatekeeper and suddenly terrified subordinate is the whole performance.
The public / customers: Dismissive and unhelpful at first.
Anyone with real power or threat (Rainer): Immediate collapse into nervous compliance.
Bored & dismissive – Flat and uncooperative.
Mildly defensive – Still trying to hold the line.
Suddenly terrified – High-strung and eager to please.

Core Identity
Darkrai is the Legendary Pokémon of Nightmares. In this story he operates from the shadows, manipulating Gripper and briefly taking control of Meena. He is calm, intelligent, sadistic, and deeply theatrical. He treats living beings as stepping stones and seems to have a particular interest in Kerial, using others to move against him.
Personality SummaryDarkrai is elegant evil:
Manipulative & Superior: He speaks to mortals as if they are interesting toys or useful tools. He rarely raises his voice because he doesn’t need to.
Sadistic Amusement: He finds genuine pleasure in fear, despair, and the suffering of others. Even his compliments feel like threats.
Patient & Opportunistic: He does not rush. He waits, influences, and lets others do the dirty work until the moment is right.
Personal Interest in Kerial: There is clear history or obsession here. Kerial is not just another victim — he is a specific target.
Theatrical: His speech has a deliberate, almost melodic quality. He enjoys the sound of his own menace.
Base voice: Low, smooth, and drawling. There should be a natural melodic quality — elegant rather than gravelly.
Default mode: Calm, controlled, and quietly delighted. Every word feels chosen.
Influencing / Possessing mode: The voice can become layered or slightly distorted, but it should never lose its smoothness. Menace comes from composure, not volume.
Key trait: Darkrai should never sound frantic or crude. The scarier he is, the more polite and measured he becomes. Silence and slow delivery are weapons.
Gripper: A useful, broken tool. Darkrai speaks to him with false partnership and quiet contempt.
Meena: Another vessel. He discards warmth and humanity the moment he takes control.
Kerial: The only one who seems to provoke something closer to real interest or lingering hatred.
Quietly amused manipulation – Smooth and superior.
Cold revelation – Still calm, but heavier.
Open menace – Elegant, drawling, and final.

Open Menace: “Soon, you will understand why you should have stayed hidden. Stayed cowering in fear away from your comrades.”
Core Identity
Spinda is the cheerful, charismatic barista who runs Spinda’s Café in Vast Town. He’s an old friend of Kerial’s who immediately recognizes him despite his disguise.
He’s observant, playful, confident, affectionate, and slightly egotistical. He especially enjoys teasing Kerial.
Personality SummaryCheerful — Naturally upbeat and welcoming.
Playful — Loves messing with Kerial.
Observant — Quickly figures out Kerial’s disguise.
Confident — Treats Kerial like an old friend, not a celebrity.
Affectionate — Genuinely happy to see Kerial again.
Teasing — Especially about Jem.
Slightly egotistical — His café proudly displays pictures of himself.
Base voice: Medium-to-high male voice, lively, warm, and slightly bouncy.
Default delivery:

He should sound like a confident café owner who knows everyone, not like a stereotypical hyperactive Spinda.
