Demon Slayer: The Abridged Series
Project Overview
A heartfelt story… about demons, trauma, and really bad breathing techniques.
Demon Slayer Abridged is a fan-made parody series that retells the story of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba with my own creative spin on it to mix in some self aware comedy and fourth wall breaks while showing my own love for the series.

Overly polite to the point of absolute absurdity, randomly starts giving motivational speeches to either enemies or allies about the power of kindness and finds the weirdest reasons to be optimistic to the point that others question his sanity.

"Sorry Mr. Demon, I didn't mean to cut your head off but you wouldn't stop trying to eat me!"
“Nezuko, stop growling at the demon. it's rude."
"Kindness won't work? well call me Midoriya cause I'm about to go...Plus Ultra Kindness!"
excessively loud and so stupid that he somehow manages to come across as profound and smart, hyper competitive about anything even something like breathing and believes he is the main character referring to the show as 'That Time I Became the Boar God of the Mountains!'

“Fear me! I am… uh… Tamagotchi Kamaboko?!”
“Your name is Tangerine, right? No? Watermelon? Avocado?!”
“Step aside! You’re in the way of my epic battle… or maybe my snack time, I forget which.”
Effectively he is the 'Krillin' of the trio believing his every action to be inconsequential since he isn't the main character, when using Thunder Breathing his personality takes a complete 180 shift turning from coward into a badass action hero dropping one liners. He is a flirt often involving Nezuko whenever he finds himself in a life or death situation.

“Nezuko, please date me so I don’t have to be single and murdered.”
“Why does the plot want me dead?!”
"You're lucky I'm not the main character...or I'd protagonist all over your face!"
Nezuko early one is a character who only really communicates through sounds, which Tanjiro will often comically misunderstand alongside his friends while the Demons seem to perfectly understand her. Protective of Tanjiro to a comical level and sometimes speaks with utter clarity creating a sense of tone whiplash for others.

(low cooing sounds) Translation: "Did you just call me cute? I’ll bite you."
(suddenly clear) “Stop hitting my brother, you walking raisin!”
the petty and insecure boss of the Twelve Kizuki often behaving in a very over the top and melodramatic fashion especially when reprimanding someone. He is also a notoriously bad actor as when disguising himself like a human, he will either get way to deep into character or go completely off the rails and blow his own cover.
I did lean in a fair bit into the fandoms running joke about him being based off Michael Jackson, so be prepared for a few references to the late King of Pop.

“You’ve all disappointed me more than my album sales in the Taisho era.”
“I will moonwalk across your grave, Tanjiro Kamado!"
“Don’t stop till you get enough… demon blood, that is.”
The Love Hashira, hopelessly romantic to the point that she comes across as a walking fanfiction generator by imagining romances between everyone from simple interactions. Tends to flip between pure adorable cinnamon roll and amazon goddess at the drop of a hat.

“Wow, your sword style is so cool! We should get married!”
“We’d make such a cute couple if you weren’t, you know, evil!”
“I’ll crush you with love and also these thighs!"
Genya is a literal walking, talking ball of teen angst complete with lots of screaming, self loathing and edginess that borders on ridiculously comical as he cannot believe that anyone finds him likeable in the slightest.

“Stop comparing me to Sanemi! He’s angry loud… I’m sad loud!”
"Demons eat people and I eat Demons, that's the circle of life Tanjiro."
Tengen is basically that theatre kid who never got any attention at school or when he was younger; he's all about things being flashy and treats everything like it's a stage performance. He also compares most situations to his three wives, even if the circumstance seems to be utterly unfitting which leads many to question exactly what kind of things he gets up to. He also gets insecure when he thinks people are either not impressed by him or that his flashiness has been ignored which has lead to him announcing his presence.
The essence of what I'm going for is Tengen's flashy attitude kind of being ramped up more than it is in canon but also having boisterousness charisma similar to characters like All Might.

"My wives rate my sword technique as a ten out of ten, what say to that demon?"
"Fear not comrades, For I am here!"
"What's this, The extras are fighting before the main act has even arrived? Unacceptable!"
The Stone Hashira yet he comes across soft due to being extremely emotional as almost anything either causes the man to cry or treating all news as world shattering to where it changes his perspective.
Gyomei Himejima is meant to have a very serious delivery to his attitude even when crying, though his voice betrays that he's emotional.

"I cry not because I'm weak, but because existence itself is unbearable."
"My tears are stronger than steel! Test me if you will demon, your blood shall be as your tears to repent."
Obanai has a tendency to hiss his way through conversations often coming across as creepy due to using protracted 'S' sounds in his words. Jealous of literally anything or anyone that even exists in the same area as Mitsuri, to the point of absurdity. His snake is the most reasonable person of the two, yes that's right his snake can talk.

"Ssstop talking to Mitsuri or I'll poison your breakfassst."
"Sssneaky snakes always know the truth, unlike… some people."

“Sssseriously, Obanai, stop simping.”
“I’m the emotional support reptile in this toxic workplace.”
“Obanai. She’s literally talking about soup.”
Sanemi is the sort who comes across as cartoonishly angry to the point one might think he's a cartoon supervillain (or Katsuki Bakugo). Overcompensates for his lack of character depth by behaving like a massive edgelord but this tends to fail as rare soft moments slip out at the worst possible times but in ways that are absolutely hilarious.

“I eat demons for breakfast and wash it down with rage!”

Giyu is a socially awkward loner but it's ramped up to 100 which leads everyone to assume he's just emotionally cold and apathetic but the reality is that he really just doesn't know to interact with anyone though he does tend to come across as funny with just how deadpan he is.

Shinobu has weaponized sarcasm often dropping nuclear tier burns while smiling sweetly also known for making deadly puns and coming across as extremely passive aggressive; All joking vanishes however at even the slightest mention of Doma and will often elicit a Broly level response.
We all know why I made Doma her trigger.

“Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing! …Well, you’ll feel some things. Pain. Mostly pain.”
“…Did you just say Doma?!” (same energy as Broly screaming 'Kakarot!' or that one guy from Spongebob yelling 'Chocolate!')
Let's all be honest, Rengoku already has the energy of an abridged character or close to it. But the positivity is now dialed up to 11 to the point that he comes across as running gag due to encouraging everyone during a battle; even the demon trying to kill him.
