Project Overview

Welcome to Darkness Falls, a supernatural sanctuary tucked in a forgotten corner of New England.

Our noir-inspired audio drama follows Private Detective Ren Black and the Yokai Detective Agency as they unravel mysteries involving demons, gods, and creatures of the night.

After the brutal murder of his partner and lover, Shiro Minagawa, Ren spiraled into a year of grief and alcohol. But when a cryptic letter from Shiro’s killer — the elusive demon-summoner Gabriel — appears at the YDA, Ren is forced back into action with a new partner, rookie detective Hiro Akashi.

Can Ren and Hiro sort through their growing connection and work together to stop Gabriel, or will Ren’s past drag them both into the abyss?

Cactus Cat Creations was recently nominated for a 2025 People's Choice Award for Fiction Podcast of the Year. We look forward to bringing another season to life.

  • The answer is 42!

    Thank you to everyone who submitted an audition. We received close to 300 submissions, and the standard across the board was extremely high. Our Casting team took its time and listened to every audition in full, giving each the attention it deserved. We’re very grateful for the effort, care, and talent that went into the submissions. This character suffered a major tragedy when fighting a demon alongside his sister, Rachel Knight. This resulted in a crushed oesophagus, leading to extensive reconstruction surgery. It was also during this time that they completed their transitional surgery. After they recovered, he took a long sabbatical, and that is when he met his husband.
