This project contains sensitive content, such as violence and death. Profane language may be used. Additionally, some specific characters have heavier backgrounds or subject matters, which will be specified to the voice actors individually. Please do not apply if you are uncomfortable with the type of material that is often associated to Danganronpa.
Although the project itself doesn't feature explicit +18 content, all voice actors must be over the age of 18 to be considered.
Additionally, there will be no gen-AI involved in this project of any sort.
About Danganronpa: Thanatos
Sixteen students with special talents known as 'Ultimates' are placed in an abandoned high school for the purpose of holding a killing game, its host being a crow named Lacamarde. They must survive trials while uncovering the blackeneds of each murder to safely make it home. To escape, the only way is killing a peer and succeed in the following trial.
Format/About this Casting Call
This project is a YouTube series that follows a Visual novel-like format. As it is a fan-project, no standards or experience are required, and the roles are also unpaid.
Communication with voice actors will be held via e-mail. Voice actors must speak fluent English and be able to regularly deliver lines throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, due to the nature of the project, they must be able to pronounce Japanese names. This project also has a few foreign characters as well as French names, such as the host itself. More information on this can be viewed on each character's description and will also be available to all voice actors as the project progresses.
No roles will be elected before deadline. The main factors that will be judged to select voice actors will be audio/microphone quality and how well it fits the role applied for. You may follow the guides in the descriptions for each role, but they are not mandatory, so please feel free to add your own interpretations if you'd like.
Dialogues and thoughts are fully voiced. Narration is not voiced.
Please specify if you're able to sing or willing to. Although it's not mandatory, we would like to have options in mind for alternative content such as music.
Current progress
As of the time of this Casting Call, the prologue for DRTH has been fully written, and the Daily Life for the first chapter is halfway written. Additionally, most sprites are completed. The original soundtrack and backgrounds are currently being worked on. There is also a trailer available on the Youtube channel.
After the Casting Call ends, voice actors will be able to start right away with the recording for the prologue, and will be given the full script. Although live-directing won't be available, we will make sure to keep an open communication and support voice actors in any way needed.

The protagonist of this story.
Gentle, intelligent and humble. A high school student who spends most of the time studying shogi strategies. He's laid-back but thoughtful and makes an effort to know other people and support them through the killing game. Generally polite and considerate. Communicates openly but respectfully.
Voice notes: Medium-pitched male voice resembling any typical protagonist. Speaks softly, rarely showing strong emotions.

Quiet and soft-spoken. Spends most time honing her talent or helping at her grandmother's shop. Hasn't met many people before the killing game, so she isn't used to strangers. Has a tendency to fall silent in group conversations or communicate with her doll instead of others. Extremely withdrawn and somewhat blunt, but otherwise polite. Can appear sinister at first glance.
Voice notes: Female mid-to-high pitch voice. Tends to speak in a quieter tone and slowly due to not being used to speaking out loud for long amounts of time. When anxious, her voice becomes louder and wavers often, showing her inner emotions more openly.

A carefree young adult. Almost always in a good mood and laid-back, never taking anything too seriously. Although he wants to be in good terms with everyone, he comes across as annoying and disrespectful at times, which earns him some enemies. He has a tendency to ask invasive questions or overestimate his closeness to others, but never with bad intentions. His genuine personality makes it hard to fully hate him.
Voice notes: Medium male voice. Has a fun and witty tone to it. Expresses many emotions in his voice, mostly positive.

A young prodigy who became a dentist at the age of 19. Despite this, he's humble and friendly. He treats everyone equally and keeps a positive mindset in any situation. Perceptive and thoughtful. Initially comes across as an airhead due to his permanent smile.
Voice notes: Medium male voice. A mix of silly, cheerful and professional. Sounds almost like customer support, but it's a warm and emotive voice regardless.

Voice notes: Medium-high male voice. Androgynous voices are welcome too. Often sounds shaky, making him seem weak or shy. Cute. Huge range of emotions.

Voice notes: Medium-high female voice. Has an idol-like charisma to it. Huge range of emotions. Generally cute, sometimes overly so, but has a sharp edge to it from time to time.

Voice notes: Medium-high female voice. Forces herself to be cheerful most of the times. Happy and bubbly and very teenage-like. Experiences many emotions.

Finds the killing game itself interesting and fun.
Voice notes: Medium male voice. Loud and obnoxious, elongates his words at times. Sarcastic, sometime adopts a mocking tone. Multifacetic.

Voice notes: Medium male voice. A velvety and attractive voice, slightly gravely. Talks politely putting some distance between himself and the other person, and doesn't fluctuate a lot. Holds back most of his emotions.

Voice notes: Medium-high female voice. Generally soft but slightly anxious tone. Slight stutter, especially early on. She becomes more upbeat when she's comfortable. Reserved but polite.

A mysterious and shady man. Physically tall and slender, which adds to his eeriness. His charisma and beauty make him an idol among his followers, but inside the killing game he comes across as suspicious to most students. Although he is oppressive and uncomfortable to talk to, he describes himself as simply a leader who wants the best for everyone. Generally an unpleasant person with ambiguous intentions.
Voice notes: Medium male voice. Velvety and elegant. Gives off a creepy feeling. He talks dramatically, but rarely shows intense emotions on the daily. Talks in a very polite manner, addressing everyone by their full names.

A conflictive, blunt and lazy girl. She is always contradicting everyone and ruining any happy moment as part of her talent. She's uncooperative, but intelligent and adaptative. Has a habit of mocking or angering others on purpose. Her inner walls are very high but not impossible to break, which is when her real self shines the most.
Voice notes: Medium female voice leaning to low, slightly androgynous and flat. She has a very blunt and almost unfemenine way of talking, which she pays little attention to. Generally disinterested or pissed off, but has moments of snide remarks where she snickers or talks with a noticeable taunt in her tone. Aside from that, there's not much emotion to her voice.
She is Greek, so anyone with an accent is appreciated and it will be valued, although it's not mandatory. She has been living in Japan enough to be fluent, and all her lines are in english. Greek terms or short phrases might be included eventually, but it's not set in stone at this moment. If you are Greek yourself, please include it in your submission.

Voice notes: Medium/Medium-low male voice. Polite and generally calm. Doesn't show a lot of emotion initially. Has a 'handsome, reliable adult' vibe to him in general including his voice.

Voice note: Medium-high male voice. Talks very dramatically and in a slightly old-fashioned way. Very emotive and energetic. Prone to whining, laughing and complaining.
He is born in Europe, so voice actors with an european accent will be valued, specifically british, although it's not mandatory. Although he speaks Japanese fluidly, he is only in Japan for a trip unlike Eris, so it will be important for him to have an accent. Additionally, Caelus will have a few short lines in foreign languages such as Spanish and French, so it is expected that his voice actor will be able to voice them. It's not necessary to have a perfect pronunciation, but please do have it in mind when auditioning.

The host of the killing game, an eerie crow. Its identity is a mystery.
Voice notes: Low male voice. Has a very old-fashioned manner of speaking and sounds almost like an old man. Dramatic and intense. A strong presence. Just like a real crow it's able to imitate certain sounds (when impossible to replicate, sound effects will be used). A french accent is welcome but not mandatory. In this case, the voice itself will be greately more valued.
