Greetings!
Introducton:
We - a number of discord users - are working on an animated comic series, of which we would like to make dubbed. A good reference for what we mean by a "dubbed animated comic series" is this fandub of the series "Hybrid Heroes".
Our comic series is essentially a comic-based fangame, based off of the Danganronpa games (Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair, and V3). However, this has a backstory and plot entirely written by all of the project's artists and directors, starring a vibrant cast of original characters created by them. The premise of the comics is as following:
Apollo Catino, an 18-year-old male with the government-assigned title of "Ultimate Baker", is invited by letter to join fifteen other "Ultimates" in a special camp made to help them hone their talents and grow as people. However, Apollo soon finds both him and the others trapped within the confines of the camp grounds, and it appears that "Viokuma" - a violet-coloured teddy bear with a devilishly twisted personality - has far more sinister motives than simply "training and teaching"...and it appears that not everyone will leave Viokuma's "Clash Camp" alive.
The comic, as well as the spoken lines, contains mature themes, cursing, and more. Please ensure that you are fully aware of what Danganronpa is and contains if you choose to audition or choose to follow the project.
What to expect:
Though we have experience in the Danganronpa fandom, we do not have much experience in the ways of animating, so please do not expect our animation to be as fine and as smooth as that of the video referenced above. We do intend on, however, expanding our knowledge and skills in the animation area as time goes on, so please be understanding if the series is not at a professional standard of animation or art.
The whole comic series will be uploaded to YouTube in parts/segments, as well as individual "Love Tent Events" (our 'fangame''s version of the "Love Hotel Events") and "Free-Time Events" with each character. You will be fully credited for your voice-work, with links to whichever social media accounts you wish to have stated in the description of each upload.
The project is entirely free for everyone, and is being made for the sole purposes of having fun and having projects to our name in the future. Nobody will be making any money off of this, and this takes place in a universe separate to Spike Chunsoft's games. Being a voice-actor in our project means that not only will you also be able to have a project to your name, but it'll additionally give you something to do for fun during these current conditions. We already have animators, editors, musicians, and artists among us, so all we need is you! The project is expected to run through into 2021, perhaps longer than that due to both the size of the project and the amount of effort everybody needs to put in; we are all individuals who are in no way being paid for this project, and though we do intend to dedicate our time to our project, we also have to work, attend classes, etc. We will, as stated, place a lot of time, dedication, devotion, and love into our project despite this.
Just because our project is free does not mean that it will not be taken seriously.
Auditions:
Make sure you put your discord handle in your audition! The deadline for auditions is the 30th of September 2020, and we will review each audition we receive. The creator of each character will be the one to make the final decision on who voices their character, with the assistance of the lead director. A video containing the voice-acting cast reveal for "Danganronpa: Despair's Advocate" is planned to be released at some point between November and December, on our YouTube channel. You will be contacted before this on Discord, just to ensure that you are willing to commit to the project, and so that we know and can use your preferred name and pronouns. You will then be invited to our official Discord Server, and will be given special roles so that everybody knows you're a voice-actor in the project, and what pronouns you go by. The Discord server will be open to fans some day in the future, however you will still only get tagged in messages that are relevant to you (or that we deem to be important/relevant to everyone, or that you opt to receive).
Requirements:
1. You must be aged 15 ≤ 20.
The reason behind this is that some of our artists/writers/creators are minors, and we wish to protect everybody on our server as much as we can. We want to ensure not only that everybody is safe, but also that the members of the project are mature enough to be a part of it.
2. You don't need to be experienced, but you must have a good microphone, and a discord account.
We expect the voice-actors to have working microphones and to be able to send us voice-lines without any background noise or crackling or anything else of the sort. Whether it's your first voice-acting role or your one-hundredth doesn't matter to us. You must also have a discord account that you are active on, as it is our primary form of communication.
3. You must be able to send your voice-lines before the deadline (or approach the Lead Director about it beforehand).
We expect all lines to be recorded and sent to us on-time as an mp3 or wav file. You will have approximately three weeks after you have been sent the script for the segment/episode to record your voice-lines for it and send it to us (though the deadline may increase slightly depending on how long a certain segment/episode is). If you are unable to send your voice-lines before the deadline, you must approach the Lead Director about it beforehand with an explanation, so that you can discuss and agree on some form of an extension. If you fail to tell the Lead Director that you need an extension before the day of the deadline, or you fail to send your lines before the extended deadline, you will be either warned or removed from both the project and the server, depending on whether you have missed the deadline before.
4. Be kind, considerate, and polite.
As said above, we have minors working on our project, and everybody - no matter their age - deserves to be treated with respect. Do not speak negatively behind anyone's backs, do not start arguments or conflicts, don't do anything illegal, and please be civil and organised. Misbehaviour will result in your removal from both the server and the project with no hesitation.
5. Have fun!
This is a free project, so at least repay yourself for your hard work by having fun doing it. That's what we're all here to do, after all - have fun and show off our talents. We may do game-nights or special events occasionally, just so we can get to know you all a bit more, and you can all get to know us!
Who we are:
We are a group of friends, wanting to share our passion for Danganronpa, art, animation, and writing.
The lead director of the series and it's production - Thundercatlost - has run over fifteen Killing Game roleplays on Discord based on the video-game Danganronpa (of which our project is based on) for over two years, as well as having taken part in three other Killing Game roleplays.
Some of our artists//writers have been moderators of chats and posts on the app Amino, some have posted animatics based on their own stories and characters, all have taken part in Danganronpa roleplays, and almost all of us have been in the Danganronpa fandom for at least a year.
We haven't a particular project to our name yet, so this'll be our first, and we're hoping to start it with a bang! We've been eagerly anticipating this for ages, and we can't wait to share our story with you.

Viokuma is the ferocious, unhinged leader of the "Clash Camp". Despite being an animatronic teddy bear, it appears he has a personality of his own - snarky, confident, and even a little bit flirtatious sometimes. Either way, he certainly isn't very fond of most of the cast for reasons unknown, though he appears to truly believe that the campers "deserve to be punished and pushed to the breaking point". Why? I suppose there's only one way to find out...
We want to hear your take on Viokuma! He doesn't have to sound like Monokuma, if you have other ideas! As long as he's menacing, and fits the above description, you have a shot at the role!
[Confidently] Weeeeelcome to the Tent Trial! We're here today to solve the murder of Sans Undertale. ...Kidding! At least, I think I'm kidding; I lost the paperwork-- But! I'm pretty sure she wasn't Sans Undertale in disguise, so we should be, as you cool kids say, "lit epic bazinga"...remind me to never speak again. Puhuhuhu!~
[Casually] Well actually, I'm eighteen too, so you could romance me! I dunno why you would romance a teddy bear though. Then again, there's probably some weirdass fetishist out there. If that's any of you, folks...you better be my age, or I'm filing a restraining order.
[Extremely angry] YOU THINK YOU CAN OUTSMART ME, YOU INSOLENT CHILD?! YOU THINK YOU'RE ABOVE ME, HUH?! WELL THEN, I'LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER COME THE FUCK BACK DOWN!
Cold, closed off, and reserved, Apollo is cautious and somewhat meek. A perfectionist at heart, he's more than determined and dedicated to finish what he starts. Often times, he attempts to be as polite as he can be towards other people, but also finds himself getting anxious during communication. Needless to say, he actively avoids interacting with his peers and sticks to what he knows.
[Slightly hesitant, and deep in thought.] Might I propose a thought as to why this wasn't the case...? I might have an idea, but it proposes...more questions as well...
[Determined.] If you’re innocent, Miss, then please give us evidence... I want you to argue against the idea that you are the culprit so we can clear you of suspicion.
[Panicked] I... I-I have to... N-No...! I-I couldn’t, I-I would never think of doing something so terrible to somebody else...! I-I can’t do it...! I-I... I can’t...
Tina has a tendency to be rather bold and boisterous, her presence strong along with her mind. She has a very modern sense of humour, and doesn't hesitate to apply it to any situation. The hairdresser often can come off as superficial, and generally only talks to people for sake of entertaining herself. After all, she lives and breathes for fun and only that - a life, to her, is not worth living if one is not enjoying it to the fullest. She is excellent at keeping secrets, and while she presents herself as an honest woman, she has more to her than what meets the eye.
[Enthusiastically] Tina Windfell, Ultimate Hairdresser! Aha, don’t… Don’t comment about why my hair is like this. Please respect my drip.
[In a cold voice] ... Speak. If you really cared about her, if you really wanted her and everyone else to live, then you’d speak. Wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you?
[Frustrated] F-Fuck… Look, I didn’t… I d-didn’t wanna lose all of you too, okay?!
Ace is generally a calm and laid-back individual. He often gets lost in his thoughts since he tends to overthink a lot, but if you need him, he'll be there. He would do anything to protect his loved ones, to the point of being extremely overprotective of them, and is very cautious when meeting new people. It's hard to gain his trust, but once you do, you'll have a strong ally by your side. As a warning, he might...you know what, we think we'll let you figure that out by yourself.
[Jokingly.] You know, this does remind me of something...What? Oh, don't worry about it.
[Playful, sassy, and confident.] C'mon, we both know that you can never be as tall as me. Just admit that I'm way too amazing to be surpassed by anyone.
[Cold, threatening.] I don't think you realize what you've just done. But don't worry, I'll help you out.
Upbeat and bubbly, Ciel is a kind-hearted individual who's rather passionate about her talent. She's your typical waitress - a little loud, caring, considerate, and thoughtful of her (and other's) opinions...most of the time.
[Calmly.] Hello, I’m Ciel! Do you like tea? Or are you more of a coffee person? I want to know what you’d like as a drink, after all!
[Slightly panicked.] Wh..What do you mean ‘killing game’?! W-We're people, just like you!
[Coldly.] T...To be let out, I have to kill...? ...So be it then.
Leiife is a strangely bubbly and optimistic young lad, to the point where he was globally recognized for his unfalteringly happy stance on everything. It can come off as creepy, but Leiife truly just has the best in mind for everyone. And I mean, everyone. He has an open mind, and digests information quickly, trying to help anyone with any problem they may have. However, he can be somewhat gullible due to his willingness to help anyone and ability to see the good in everything. Leiife is book-smart, and charismatic, but wise isn't a word anyone should use to describe him, either - he's very sheltered, and doesn't have a lot of life experience, so he makes many statements based off of nothing but inferences, ones that he truly believes as fact.
It should be noted that he has a slightly deeper voice than expected.
[Carefreely] I’m Leiife LaCour, the Ultimate Optimist! A pleasure t’meetcha, ‘Pollo! Say, a baker, huh? That’s sweet!
[Optimistically, supportively] Could I speak to you, Mister Accused? Don’t worry - I believe in you! I know that you didn’t do anything!
[Trying to be optimistic] You… aren’t going anywhere, silly! Don’t start lying on me now! C’mon, you’re gonna live, and so are we all! Everyone but the culprit!
Veronica is a hard-worker, who wants to support others. She’s humble and grateful for her life and talent, and she wants to live her life to the fullest, no matter what stands in the way. Her intelligence guides her through life, though she never strays too far from those she loves.
[Gleefully, supportively] You don't have to do anything you don't want to, Apollo, but I'm always here to help!
[Determinedly] I can't let my sister's scarifies go to waste! I'll face these challenges just like she's faced hers!
[Panicked, distressed] Please.. Please don't leave me! I don't wanna be alone!
Nathaniel, at his core, is a people-pleaser, determined to put on a face for people that they like to see. He walks with confidence, and is even somewhat charismatic at times, even if he's a little arrogant. He'll hook onto a trend and make the most of it, fitting in with a crowd however he so desires. However, he's also quite stubborn on his beliefs, but can grow shy only sometimes.
[Irritated] I'm not fucking gay...! I have nothing to fucking come out of, oh my fucking Christ, I hate this-!
[Defensive] Hey! I'll have you know that I get out of the house often, have lots of sex, and my life is very interesting!
[Unsure] How good at you are keeping a secret...? I want to know. I wanna make sure this shit doesn't go out anywhere and I wanna know if I can trust you.
A chaotic, hot-headed boxer, Kimiko is a raging lesbian who isn't going to hide it for anyone! She's Italian-born, and has always had anger issues, yet she uses her talent to be as open as she can and do whatever she wants. She has little trust in others, is very lustful, and she‘s very protective of how far she's come, and will do whatever it takes to stay successful.
[Eagerly, confidently] Let's kill all men and commit arson!
[Irritated] Yeah, I smoke; is that gonna be a fucking problem?
[Angry] I had no fucking choice! I've worked too hard to throw my life away for some random fucking strangers! The only way to get anywhere is to trample over everyone else!
Kiro is a really outgoing and caring individual! He can put a smile on anybody's face, and he's always there to take care of his friends when they need it the most, as well as when they don't. He supports everybody around him, but he can crack under pressure, and can be rather protective whenever it is desired...or whenever somebody riles him up.
[Eagerly, Confidently] You betcha! I'm one-hundred percent down for a game! As long as it's a buncha laughs, of course...nothing else is quite my style!
[Disappointedly] I...can't come tonight. I have a gig booked at the local theatre from nine 'til eleven...
[Caringly] Hey...you doing okay...? You're looking pretty blue right now...
Hasao is a blissfully carefree young girl, who despite her appearance, longs to hug and hold every single person on the planet! She...is certainly not the smartest being on the planet, but she sure does try her best. She's positive and caring, and though she's often ridiculed or just plain avoided for how...'unusual'...her appearance is, she often struggles to understand why people wouldn't want to hug her back.
[Carefreely] Hasao Inui's name and title are Hasao Inui, the Ultimate Zombie! I think clouds and cats are cute! And so are daffodils! Do you like daffodils?
[Eagerly, excitedly] Ooh! Ooh! Hasao saw Hasao's friends playing cards at Breakfast! Hasao went and gave all of them hugs! Hasao looooves hugs!
[Gleefully] Hasao thinks you should smile a bit more often! Hasao thinks Apollo's smile is very nice! Does Apollo think Hasao's smile is very nice?
Imré is an incredibly nervous, yet passionate, soft, and cute male, having been bullied his whole life for wearing feminine clothing, for having a love for childrens' cartoons, for being a homosexual, and for his strong and natural stutter that he is incapable of suppressing unless he's doing an impression.. And though he's now seventeen, the bullying hasn't really stopped, and he lives in a constant state of anxiousness. When Imré falls in-love, he falls fast, and he falls hard - he thinks more with his heart than his head, though he's still pretty intelligent...and he's totally definitely completely 100% not a hentai artist.
As a couple of side-notes, Imré's stutter is 100% natural, and he is not transgender - he simply enjoys the feeling of feminine clothing and he likes cosplaying women. He does not need to have a particularly feminine voice. You also do not need to do impressions of any of the other characters - if Imré does impressions of other characters, Imré's impressions will be voiced by the subject's voice-actors.
[Supportively, somewhat optimistically] ...I-I...I...I’m s-sure...w-w-we will...t-too...!
[Worriedly, but protectively] ...I’ll...I’ll c-come with you. B-But...I-I’ll n-need you t-to g-guide me...
[Sobbing, confessing feelings] ...I w-want...I want t-to...to sh-show my l-love for you...b-b-but it’s okay...if...I-I’m the o-only one of...of u-us who...who..
Alex is a loud, obnoxious and over dramatic teenager. She doesn’t understand how to read the room, and is highly inappropriate at most times. The female can be unpredictable at times, and her decisions are almost always impulsive. Alex doesn’t like to make friends, and most of the time picks fights for her own entertainment.
As a side-note, she has a somewhat nasally voice for reasons concerning her backstory.
[Casually] I will be willing to sell my bones for the small price of £12 and a pack of sausage rolls.
[Sassily] I’m raising my eyebrows in a questioning manor but you just can’t see it.
[Frustratedly] WHICH ONE OF YOU MOTHERFUCKERS PUT YOUR GRIMY FINGERS ON MY NEW EPIC L-E-D KEYBOARD?!
q72 is incredibly reserved and cold mannered, but also doesn't take kindly to being mistaken as some kind of shut in or introvert. He has always been an incredibly dedicated worker, and he finds it very insulting to be viewed through any other lens. Treating details about himself with the utmost priority of secrecy, he only talks to begin with when he sees it to be significant, which isn't often. The mask on his face allows him to ignore any conversation which doesn't seem important to him, which is something he has a tendency to do. He's lived a life of secrecy and would prefer to keep it that way. Trust doesn't come easy with him, either. He's highly sceptic and very strongly believes in the doctrine of "guilty until proven innocent" against people he finds suspicious. That's not to say that he's completely opposed to the idea of knowing people and/or keeping bare minimum relationships with them, but it'll definitely take more work with him than most to reach that point.
[Sternly, dismissively.] My name is entirely classified. You can have my handler name, Agent Q72. . . . . No, don't ask what the Q stands for. You don't get to know that either.
[In a defensive and hostile tone.] You, are, incredibly suspicious. Not yet has there been an ounce of my mind which says I have any reason to place my faith or trust in you. Go away.
[With exasperation] How many times are you going to ask that? I've dealt with interrogators who have more malice and hatred in their left hand than you do in your entire body. Sit down and find someone else to annoy.
Mirai is a flirtatious young woman who loves messing with people. She's very upfront when she wants something and doesn't back off until she reaches her goal. While her morals might be questionable, she still has a good heart underneath all that makeup.
[Casually] ...I mean, you could've picked an easier target. Still, that bitch is dead and I'm one step closer to having a whole dorm all to myself. Thanks.
[Seductively] Well...I wouldn't mind a little quiet time with you...~
[Irritated] Please tell me I'll be maximally sexy this time. The ghost thing was not good enough. At all. Maximally unsexy.
Cork is an absent minded professor with a heart of gold. His inventions employ unique methods and his problem solving skills are out of the box. He’s a thinker, to be sure, but he’s very easily led off topic. His passion is inventing and working with machinery, and when he’s in his zone, he can explain even the most complicated of inventions with a composed smile. He’s charismatic, albeit socially inept and clueless, and he generally greets obstacles with an upbeat smile.
[Proud, trying to sound cool] Good day! I am Cork Shrewd, the world’s Ultimate Engineer! I can fix, salvage, break, invent, and design anything your little heart desires!
[Calm, but very content and happy] If he’s a robot, he’s extremely well made. Entirely wireless, great built in mic quality, and responds to independent stimuli. Sure, he wants us dead, but I have to give the little guy props for being a high quality piece of work.
[Confused, slightly nervous] How I did that? Well, I- …huh. How did I do that? I mean, I didn’t really think about planning or anything, I just kinda made a robot. Isn’t that how most stuff is made?
Hiro isn’t the nicest around most people. She acts like she is above others and claims she’s better. She’s not in any sort, and honestly more fragile than most people are. If you listen to her words close enough you can hear her lies, and how much her words pain her to say. Being as stubborn as she is though, she would never admit to it. Hiro can and will tell you off if you are wrong, easily getting frustrated at people for assuming things. This leads into her determination to get a task done and over with, wanting to be the best. Moreover, if she thinks your a pretty lady, she’s gonna be direct about it, as well as if she takes interest into you as a character. If she thinks any female is hot, she can get a bit flirty, and will wanna learn all she can about you.
[Irritated] 'The hell is that meant to mean?!
[Intrigued] You remind me of someone I know...
[Dryly] Get your facts straight - I don’t like you. And, you’re getting in my way.
