CrossCode | Video game Dub
Project Overview
A small Videogame known as "CrossCode" is a retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future, combining 16-bit SNES-style graphics with butter-smooth physics, a fast-paced combat system, and engaging puzzle mechanics, served with a gripping sci-fi story. You follow a player called Lea as she logs into CrossWorlds - a fictional MMO of the distant future. Lea is not your average player though. She hast lost her memory and is (literally) mute. Now the only way to regain her memory is to play CrossWorlds, disovering all the places the game has to offer and meeting other players on the way - hoping they won't mistake her for a bot. In CrossCode, many players show up during the time you play the game. As you play, A lot of not only emotional but moving scenes take place, giving voice actors (You Guys) a ton of new things to try! Follow us in this adventure of CrossCode! More Details will be provided during the Project.

Lea is the main protagonist of CrossCode and a player of CrossWorlds. She has lost her memory for unknown reasons prior to the beginning of CrossCode, and she was entered into CrossWorlds in an attempt to recover it. A problem with her avatar's speech synchronization has caused her to be effectively mute. To work around this, Sergey has hard-coded her avatar with the ability to say certain words, so she is very mute and can only say a few select words. Those words consist of very basic English vocabulary. Lea's avatar is a short, pale-skinned girl with hazel eyes. Her hair is bright blue, and is tied back in a waist-length ponytail, with cheek-length side locks and pointed bangs covering her forehead. She has a prominent scar across her nose. She wears an unusual headpiece consisting of a metal headband connected to ear covers and two prominent horns, she has a young feminine voice, but not too young,
Hi? Hi!? Hi!!! (Each line is said differently. The first is as a question, then she's excited about the new word, and then she says it again as confirmation.)
Sorry! Sorry!! (In this scene, Lea has come to terms of a large secret with her Friend, Emilie. She has begun to cry trying to apologize to her close friend, realizing that she may not get her back. I know it's hard to act off of just two words, but give me your best shot!)
Emilie is an energetic young CrossWorlds player who recently joined the game and seems to be quite enthusiastic about it. She has a very competitive nature and wants to prove her skill wherever she can. Emilie is highly competitive, and She is quick to befriend Lea and readily shares her knowledge of CrossWorlds. She is shown to be somewhat oblivious, and fails to recognise Lea's muteness despite talking with her extensively. She is highly excited about CrossWorlds, and eager to face any challenges the game may offer. The sole exception to this is bug enemies, as she is shown to have a fear of bugs and will complain loudly to Lea if forced to fight them.
Emilie has a french accent. She says a few french words throughout the game, as presented above.
"Je m'appelle Emilie! Nickname: Emilienator" (Emilie is speaking to Lea, introducing herself.)
"Ah... I just need a short breather, this Dungeon is long, non? By the way... You did see them too, right?" (Lea responds questionably) "You know... them. The... bugs." (Emilie is speaking to Lea about the Bugs in a dungeon. She is afraid of Bugs and hates to speak about them so her tone is full of disgust.) "Gahhh! I Hate those things!"
"I'm a Pentafist, non? What do you think my fists are for?" (Emilie says confidently to C'Tron after shortly meeting him.)
Toby is a rather new member of the First Scholars. He appears to be highly knowledgeable when it comes to science which leads to a lot of displeasure whenever CrossWorlds does not hold up to his sense of realism. On the third day, C'tron first makes contact with Lea as she prepares to head into Maroon Valley. He introduces himself and states that he is busy, but offers to party up with her the next day. Toby doesn't necessarily have a specific voice, but he is very acknowledgable and knows his fair share of scientific related subjects. He is a little shy as well.
(Toby is once again seeing water below a lake in a cave, and it's pissing him off.) "Aaaand again! Water in a cave. Below a lake. We're LITERALLY below a gigantic lake! There is just no way you could make this work! Just imagine the water pressure!"
"Those are some really impressive stone arcs. Those usually appear due to water erosion. There probably used to be a river at this place a long time ago." (Toby is rambling about Stone Arcs to Emilie and Lea.)
"Cave time! ... Wait, there's running water down here? That's... weird, considering there are lakes out there. You'd think everything would flood." (Toby is sort of complaining. He is dissapointed that the water isn't scientifically accurate in CrossCode but still puts all.)
Schneider is a Crossworlds player whom meets Lea after arriving in Rookie Harbor. His real name is Lukas Fink. Schneider is friends with Emilie and has been friends with her before he meets Lea. Though he is very helpful he also enjoys teasing his friends. As a veteran in the game he knows almost every inch of it like his vest pocket. Schneider meets Lea and Emilie when they arrive in Rookie Harbor and shows them around, pointing out certain places such as the Info Hub, market place and the Seeker Hub. When he's done with his guide through Rookie Harbor, he shows Lea and Emilie how to form a party and leaves, saying that it wouldn't be fun if an experienced player joined them immediately. Lukas has a german accent and tends to use German words like zeug and ja.
(as Lea and Emilie are traveling to the first Area of the game, Lukas jumps out at them, scaring them both.) "HOLERO!" (Emilie gets scared and he laughs it off.) "Gyahahahahah!"
"Japp. Very Funny." (Lea begins to laugh at Lukas after figuring out that his room is a mess. Lukas, being sarcastic and down about her laughing, Sarcasticaly makes the remark that it's very funny.)
"Good Morning, Lea! So... Are you ready for the Tower?" (Lea nods as an answer to Lukas.) "Jawohl, let's do this!" (He exclaims excitedly, getting ready to move on to the next area.)
Apollo is a justice-driven player of CrossWorlds who started around the same time as Lea and Emilie His respect for the rules and disgust for cheaters are only matched by his outstanding sense of style. Apollo is outspoken and quick to jump to conclusions. He chooses to call out Lea when he suspects her of cheating, despite having neither the proof nor the authority to do anything about it, showing a confrontational attitude and a lack of foresight. Although he may have noble intentions, his smugly attitude makes his criticism seem very holier-than-thou. Apollo and Joern are friends, with Joern being the voice of reason for the more impulsive Apollo. Apollo is quick to seek out Joern's approval for finding a cheater, but Joern tells off Apollo for his attitude and apologizes for his behavior, while threatening to pretend not to know him.
"Hmph. Young lady, I'll let you off this time. Reflect on your actions!" (After battling Lea and losing, Apollo let's her off the hook and warns her to reflect on her actions.)
"The time has come... I, Apollo, will show you the right path. The path of a proper Spheromancer! The path... of Justice! Let the duel begin!" (Apollo is getting ready to fight Lea, giving her a justice warrior type speech before they start. He is very confident and self-centered during this speech.)
"I don't mind her joining us if you're fine with it, Joern" (For the first time, Apollo is willing to let his Self-righteous feelings stay out of the way. He says this calmly to Joern in a sort of apologetic tone.)
Joern is a Crossworlds player starting a new character of the Quadroguard class. He is Apollo's friend. Joern has had little interaction shown by which to judge his personality, but he is shown to quickly and bluntly defuse the growing conflict between Apollo and Lea, suggesting a straightforward and reasonable outlook. Joern and Apollo are friends. It is implied that they are also either roommates or brothers (It is briefly mentioned that the duo owns several cats outside of CrossWorlds). Joern is shown to be unamused by Apollo's antics and refuses to humor him, instead apologizing to Lea on his behalf, suggesting that Joern is quite willing to do what is best for Apollo, whether he likes it or not.
"Apologies for my friends behavior..." (Joern is slightly annoyed and apologetic towards Lea.)
"Hey. Oh, I see. Having business with your girl again?" (He says, slightly annoyed towards Apollo. Once Apollo replies, he gets even more annoyed.) "Well, Whoop-Dee-Doo. Didn't we want to start exploring Gaia's Garden Today?"
Shizuka Sakai Crossworlds player of the Spheromancer class. She is the playable character in the Prologue of CrossCode. Shizuka is a very decisive and no-nonsense person, who wastes no time tackling a problem head-on, and isn't afraid to deal harshly with those who get in her way. She is stubborn, and unlikely to be dissuaded from a course of action once she has decided on it. She has trouble accepting things that she cannot change. Shizuka uses a short female avatar. She has long, straight black hair, pale skin, brown eyes and a prominent scar across her nose. She has a pair of the standard round Spheromancer ear covers, connected with a metal headband and a larger band behind her head. She is a very serious Character.
"I know you can hear me! Where is he?!" (Shizuka is speaking to someone, asking for her brother angrily.)
"I am going to talk some sense into him! Don't get in my way!" (Still talking to this person in an angry and demanding tone, Shizuka is threatening someone to stay out of her way.)
"Satoshi... Stop it..." (Shizuka is vulnerable and is calmly asking her brother to stop.)
Sergey Asimov is a programmer and one of the main characters in CrossCode. In the game, he is the primary character working with Lea to recover her memories. He has not yet made a physical appearance in the game, and has been seen only as message holograms by Lea. Sergey is very knowledgeable about CrossWorlds and is eager to share that knowledge with others, to the point of talking too much at times. He can easily get annoyed by those around him, particularly when they use slang terminology or misconceptions related to CrossWorlds, but he tries hard to be patient and understanding. His somewhat uptight personality hides a snarky side and a fondness for bad jokes.
"Dash is essential in battle, since it helps you to quickly dodge enemy attacks at any time." (Sergey is explaining to Lea how to dodge/dash and attack enemies.)
"For now, take on this challenge and keep him busy. I know, this enemy looks intimidating, but do not lose hope! I am confident you will be able to handle this!" (Sergey is confident that Lea will accomplish this boss fight. He is excited and he is being very supportive of her.)
Satoshi Sakai is Shizuka's brother. He was dying due to unknown causes, but he pushed himself to complete a project to secure his sister's freedom, which led to his premature death during the prologue. Satoshi's appearance in the story is very brief, but in that time he makes it clear that he feels responsible for getting Shizuka involved in some bad business and that he is willing to do whatever he can to protect her, even if it means his own death. He is likely very intelligent, given how essential he is to the project he was completing.
"... Why should I rest when I'm way beyond recovery?" (Satoshi says the line almost emotionlessly and almost to the point that he's determined to do something important.)
"Shizuka... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry I got you involved in this." (Satoshi is dissapointed in himself and feels terrible for getting his sister involved in a mess. He says this line in a dissapointed and apologetic tone.)
Carla Salvatore is a crew member on the M.S. Solar and one of the main characters in CrossCode. She is assigned with helping to prepare Lea for Crossworlds. Carla is very friendly and charismatic, and is quick to befriend Lea and encourage her through her basic training. She is always quick to speak her mind, and seems to have a mild disrespect for authority, as she stays on very informal terms with everyone, including Captain Jet, her boss. She has a tendency towards laziness, passing her less-desirable tasks to others and finding ways to avoid cleaning up her room.
"Hey there, girl! Welcome to our cozy cargo hold!" (Carla is warmingly welcoming Lea in the beginning of the game to the Cargo.)
"Girl, you sure are a natural with that ball thing!" (Carla excitedly compliments Lea with her attacking after Lea takes out some Robots)
Captain Gerald "Jet" McFly is the captain of the cargo ship M.S Solar. He allows his ship to serve as the initialization point for Lea's Avatar, and oversees her entry into CrossWorlds. Jet is a stickler for order, and tends to run a tight ship, making sure the work of his subordinates is up to standard. He is described as being a little grumpy, and the danger and disruption of routine caused by Lea's presence annoys him, but he is quick to take charge and protect those under his care, personally taking on the Blue Avatar when the latter threatens Lea, and by extension, his ship. He has a very down-to-earth attitude, and little tolerance for arrogance. Captain Jet has a sea captain type accent.
"Aye... hard to miss that lass. Hope ye didn't run into everythin' with those horns there." (Captain Jet calmly says to Lea.
"Ye know I'd never travel the sea without ol' Betty." (He says out loud to the others, giving out a sense of aspiration for his Weapon 'Betty'.)
"... Did ye just call me a "mortal", ye nutcase?" (Captain Jet is speaking to the Blue Avatar, who calls him Mortal. He seems surprised and annoyed at this avatar.)
Hlin is a friendly, motherly player who created the First Scholars guild together with Beowulf. Manners, community and the lore of CrossWorlds are most dear to her and she welcomes everyone with open arms.
"Lea dear, I'm so sorry...
Well... Still! That's no reason to cancel a quiz!"
(Linda, after discovering that Lea can barely speak, gets sentimental and continues the quiz of the scholars.)"You answered all four questions correctly, how wonderful! Ah...! Wait. I think I have a small bonus question for you. Di'aro is a god of Shape representing a square. So, which Class has been founded to honor Di'aro?"
"It is my Greatest Please to announce Two new members of the First Scholars. Emilienator the Pentafist and Lea the Spheromancer!" (Hlin is gladly telling everyone that there are two members of the group!)
Beowulf is a calm and silent player who created the First Scholars guild together with Hlin. Although he does not seem very talkative, his interest in the lore of CrossWorlds is just as great as Hlin's.
"Congratulations" (Beowulf has just given a congratz to Lea but there really isn't much emotion behind it.)
"No, that's not a connection error, stricly speaking. It's one of the Avatar servers failing. Crossworlds is run by a huge distributed system. There are hundreds of servers just for the avatars. So it is not unknown that some of them occasionally fail."
Buggy is a pun-loving player and one of the earliest members of the First Scholars guild. His cheerful nature stems mostly from bad puns and jokes and he almost always laughs about his own jests the most. Buggy is a cheerful, fun-loving character who likes to joke around, often on the detriment of the people around him. This is apparent when he teases Emilie of her fear of bugs, or when he jokingly points out that Lukas is "bringing in the girls like usual" when he introduces Lea and Emilie to the First Scholars. He always laughs at his own jests out loud. As his name suggests, Buggy loves bugs.
"Old Timer?, huh? I definetely don't get that a lot."
"The Technerd strikes again!" (He says, congradulating Beowulf and Hlin.)
"Can I be it, please? Please, Please, Please!" (Asking to be the leader of the Raid, Buggy begs.)
Gautham Ranganathan is a character who speaks to Shizuka in the prologue. He is a representative of the nefarious organization with which Satoshi has gotten involved. He is only seen briefly, attempting to convince Shizuka to not disturb Satoshi. During this conversation, he puts emphasis on the value of Satoshi's work, lending it substantially more importance than Satoshi's well-being and indicating his substantial disregard for Satoshi. Although he remains polite throughout the conversation, he is quick to throw enemies at Shizuka when she fails to listen, and his pleas become increasingly desperate the further she progresses.
"I'm sorry but I can't let you go any further. You know this is what he wants!"
"If you interrupt him, all of his hard work will be lost. Don't do this!"
The main antagonist generally referred to as simply Blue Avatar is an avatar with a history with Lea who tries to kidnap her for unknown purposes. The Designer is shown to act superior and condescending to everyone, and completely ignores the desires and opinions of others in favor of pursuing his own goals, whatever they might be. He views avatars as being superior to humans, exemplified by him greatly underestimating Jet and dismissively referring to him as a "mortal". He speaks in a rather odd, stilted manner and comes off as rather out of touch, but has proven himself to be the most powerful character seen to date.
"As much as you enjoy your freedom... You should be aware that you do not belong in this place. So you are still clueless...? Very peculiar."
"... Wait, you seem all too familiar. Why, it can't be..."
"Foolish Mortal, do you truly believe we will abide by your command?" (Over-Confident and a little snarky)
