Project Overview

Overview

I am currently composing a hyperrealistic, "mega-orchestral" piece. I need an experienced female vocalist who can deliver the power necessary to soar above the orchestra. There are no lyrics involved, just "ahs" and "ohs."

Please refer to the excerpts in the Auditions section to get an idea of what I'm looking for.

Pay & Expected Work

I am paying a total minimum of $200 for your work. I may pay more if you lend me a creative hand and suggest ideas of your own that will improve the vocal composition/performance.

You will be recording around 2 to 3 minutes of wordless vocals across multiple sections of the piece. I will pay parts of the total after each section rather than all at once at the end.

This is my first time commissioning a vocalist, so I don't know how long this process will take. I project anywhere between 4 to 8 hours of your time, but ultimately, I have no idea.

Expectations

This is a serious project for me, and I need to get this piece done by the beginning of March. Therefore, I expect the following when working together:

  • Solid mic quality

  • Timely communication and recordings. I only have a little over a month left to get this done, so this is VERY important

Audition

There are two options available.

I will DM you if I think you are a good fit for the role. I will start looking through auditions on 1/31.

* If this listing is still up, then you can assume the role is still open for auditions. I won't close it until after someone has successfully completed a portion of the vocal work I need.

** If you do happen to audition, you can expect a message back for sure, regardless of whether or not you are chosen for the role. I don't believe in leaving auditionees in the dark about whether or not their submission was ever considered.

  • Final Update

    The role has officially been cast! As I've stated before, if you did not make the short list, then I personally messaged you explaining why. From the short list, it was more about choosing who fit the role the best as opposed to who was most technically proficient.

    Anyway, thank you all for your auditions! I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of talent on this site.

    Lastly, I am open to giving anyone audio tracks of the excerpts from my composition where the vocal lines are supposed to be sung. It's a pretty cool part that may be a good source of practice. Just message me if you're interested.

  • Update on Casting

    I have finished sorting through the nearly 50 auditions this project has received. If your audition did not make the short list, then I have sent you a personal message briefly explaining why. Otherwise, you are on the short list -- yay!

    I am currently working with one of the auditionees from the short list. I won't officially cast the role until they successfully complete a small portion of the part. This is to account for the off-chance that things do not work out with said auditionee, preventing them from recording the part in its entirety. I'll be sure to make a final project update once the role is cast.
