Frederick is an old landscape designer in victorian times. He's refined but has a gruff drawl. He's used to being around the filthy rich.
Quite. It was your lovely wife that had me come over. I had no idea the Vanderbilts had family members of a...an exotic complexion.
Oh, quite right. Apologies. I am Frederick Olmstead. I am the designer of the landscape that surrounds this great house.
Stuck up doorman, checking the list to make sure that the guests are supposed to be there.
(Very pose, snooty)
Yes?
(posh/snooty)
We were told you were detained in New York due to illness.
Indeed. Please come in. Go to the footman there and he will announce you.
A stranger, looking to entice the host to join a secret society.
I wouldn’t be so quick to throw me out, Mr. Vanderbilt. I was a close friend to your grandfather and I represent a consortium of extremely wealthy gentlemen who have a proposition for you I know you’d want to hear.
You don’t understand, sir. What we offer is inclusion in a society that knows the truth.
What we are. Where we come from. And who is returning to reclaim it.
The host and one of the richest men in America. Posh and refined.
Rosicrucians (ROSE-EH-CREW-SHEANS)? Come now, man. I have told the masons, the Order of St. Hubertus, the Odd Fellowship, the Illumanti, the Sons of America and all of you other secret societies that I am not a man of religious fervor, nor am I one to trifle with rituals, pomp and circumstance.
Look, I know my home is a dazzling display, but I’m afraid you have the wrong Vanderbilt. You should speak with my brother, Cornelius. He’s right over there with lovely wife Alice. He enjoys all of these types of things, Salvation Army, St. Nicholas Society and all that. He’s got a much deeper purse than I for folly such as yours.
(shouting)
Everyone. Yes. Thank you. It’s time to retire to the banquet hall for dinner and continued conversation. And perhaps...an exchange of gifts? Haha. Yes. That would be quite splendid. Come along.
