A prequel to the game of the same name, the Castlevania: Curse of Darkness manga follows Hector, a Devil Forgemaster and top general in Dracula's army. After having a change of heart, he defects and finds refuge with a nun, Rosaly. However, Hector is plagued by both his past and his fellow Forgemaster - Isaac - who will stop at nothing to ensure that Hector's betrayal does not go unpunished.
This project will be a comic dub of both volumes of the Castlevania: Curse of Darkness manga that was released alongside the game in 2005. All pages have been translated into a script format, so now I just need other voice actors to help me bring this project to life. Familiarity with the Castlevania franchise is not required to audition. It might help, but anyone is welcome to try out. As is the nature of Castlevania, there are intense scenes, fantasy violence, religious imagery, and death. If any of these things make you uncomfortable, please avoid this call.
To ensure that both the audition and subsequent recording process goes well for everyone, I have provided guidelines below:

I have provided the vocal performances of several characters in the YouTube video linked above (timestamps are provided in the description), but you do not have to 100% match them. While consistency with the game cast would be ideal, I’m open to listening to different takes on established characters. Do NOT base your vocal performance off of the anime for any of the characters who appear in both media!
When auditioning, please say each line at least three times with noticeable variation. You are welcome to do more than three passes of each line.
Use a decent-quality microphone. Any recordings with static, background noise, or distortion will not be considered regardless of skill.
Audition for characters in your vocal age/range. Being the age or gender of the character you’re auditioning for isn’t required, but your performance should be convincing.
Your audition should either be submitted on Casting Call Club (CCC) or as a public YouTube video. If you submit on YouTube, please comment on the casting call video (ex: “Hi! My audition is posted on my channel!”). Unless I have reached out to you individually prior to posting this call, I will not be accepting auditions outside of YouTube or CCC.
Provide either an email or Discord tag that I can use to contact you.
You can audition for multiple characters. If you submit via CCC, please submit a separate audition file for each character (don't record auditions for 5 characters on the same file). If you upload your audition as a YouTube video, please have some sort of separation between characters (timestamps in the description, writing onscreen, or verbal cues).
You do not have to be a professional actor by any means if you want to audition, but actors who have prior experience (especially with comic dubs or anime-style projects) will have an advantage.
This project will be a longer-term commitment for the main cast. The script is ready to go as soon as roles are filled, but please note that there is a lot of content and you may need several sessions to record.
If you are not cast in the main project, don’t worry! I would also like to dub Prelude to Revenge and a few Koma Comics, so there is a chance that you will be cast in that project separately. Keep in mind that only Hector, Isaac, Dracula, Rosaly, Saint Germain and Trevor appear in these comics.
I hate to cancel something I haven't started, but life comes at you fast. My mother is currently undergoing cancer treatment, and I have personal and familial obligations that take priority over this project.
Thank you all for your time. I plan on keeping this call up and might reach out to folks who auditioned somewhere down the tune, but it's just not in the cards for the foreseeable future.

Before I get into it, I want to thank everyone who has auditioned so far! I didn’t think that this project would get this level of attention, and I certainly didn’t expect the sheer volume of talent. There are quite a few roles that I’m going to have a hard time deciding on who to cast.
I will be setting a preliminary extension to January 5th. With the sporadic CCC outages and today’s Cloudflare issues, as well as things happening in my personal life, I want to make sure folks get a chance to audition and that I have time to properly go through and listen to everyone’s submissions. There are also quite a few characters that I haven’t been able to cast yet.
That said, I’ll be reaching out to the handful of folks I want to cast in the project so far, so expect a role assignment and dm within the next week or so. I would usually wait until all roles are filled, but I also want to respect the time and availability of those who auditioned early on. You’ll receive a single-use link to the project Discord server where you can access the scripts and manga panels for the project (I personally hate waiting for scripts, so I make it a point to not torture other actors like that lol). If Discord isn’t your thing, we can set up other means of communication and submitting materials.
If you have already auditioned and weren’t cast, you are free to submit again, or try out for other characters.

About: Hector is a powerful Devil Forgemaster who defected from Dracula’s army. Over the course of the story, he battles both old allies and his own inner demons. Hector is usually calm but can be cold – he isn’t used to communicating with people. He is constantly at war with himself and carries immense guilt for his hand in Dracula’s war against humanity.
Notes: Convey strong emotions. This character has fight scenes. This character yells/screams.(irritated / terse, then determined): Your advice is neither solicited, nor welcome. I will use any means necessary to achieve my revenge.
(confident, w/ conviction - spoken while in pain): I am human. I sought power so that I could remain human! Not for anyone’s sake! For me! For myself!! Not to be the pawn in some ridiculous plot for revenge!
(bitter): No matter how much I prayed, no matter how much I knelt… God would do nothing for me. In the end it was about power. Pure power…

About: Dracula’s second-best Devil Forgemaster and main antagonist. Isaac has a deep hatred for humanity and an even deeper resentment towards Hector for his betrayal. Cunning, jealous, and insecure, Isaac has a short fuse and a deadly anger. Isaac is as dramatic as he is dangerous.
Notes: Convey strong emotions. Unhinged/evil laughter is a must. This character has fight scenes.
Role: Main Antagonist
(mocking, cocky): Oh? And how will you have this “revenge” when you are utterly at my mercy? (laughter) You relinquished your powers - you couldn’t even protect your own woman. And now, you think to defeat me?
(mocking, bitter, threatening): Don’t you seem so very happy… (soft laugher) But… have you not forgotten all about me? You’ll regret your betrayal, Hector. Mark my words… (unhinged laughter - starts quietly - increases in volume and intensity)
(unhinged, anguished, desperate): If… If you hadn’t run away… Then I wouldn’t have had to leave Count Dracula’s side! If I… If you and I had been there, then scum like Belmont would never have…!!! I… If I were at his side… at least… Why…? Why, sir?! Why?! Why can we not even die together?!

(bright, hopeful): Even if he is carrying some kind of sin… As long as he acknowledges his sins and repents them, I’m sure that God will lend a helping hand. All people possess good and bad things about them. I… want to believe in the good in people.
(fearful, but stern): Run away, Ted! You can get outside through that door! Run and don’t turn back until you reach somewhere safe!
(tearful, pleading): Can’t you hear my voice? Since I’ve met you, I’ve smiled so many times. I don’t know your pain, or your past. But those things, for us who are living here and now… they aren’t important.

About: Ted is a headstrong boy raised by his mercenary father. He is protective of Rosaly and has a strong sense of what’s right and wrong. He is suspicious of outsiders like Hector and he isn’t afraid to say so. While he may hesitate at first, he is willing to put his life on the line to defend the people he cares about.
Notes: Express fear and pain. This character has intense scenes. This character ages by 3 years, but a change in how he sounds does not need to be drastic.(dismissive, annoyed): Yeah, yeah, I know the deal. You’re gonna nag at me about chores when I already did ‘em. You can look for yourself if you don’t believe me.
(hushed, worried): But… I don’t think you should bring strangers in here. Everyone’s been saying how dangerous things have been getting lately. I don’t want you putting yourself in danger, Rosaly…
(angry, rising emotion): You… You’re a soldier aren’t you…?! Why won’t you help us?! If you aren’t going to be of any use in a time like this… why are you even a soldier…?! Rosaly saved you! Are you going to just sit and watch her die?!

About: The Lord of Darkness hellbent on destroying humanity after the murder of his wife. He sends Isaac to bring Hector back after the former Forgemaster defects.
Notes: Convey malice and anger.(cold, bitter, threatening): The powerful always judge the weak. The humans made their judgment of me, as well. Thus I sentenced them to extinction. Sympathy is merely a form of weakness. You betrayed me, Hector... And for that, the punishment is death.
(building anger, but not yelling): If he has betrayed me… then I shall use my magic to transform him into an especially hideous demon. He shall crawl on the ground and drink sewage as a hideous monster.
(defeat, angry, desperate): Foolish betrayers…! You shall be cursed! Humans who betray me… as well as this world! And God as well! You shall learn, at great cost to you, my sorrow and wrath!

Vocal type: Mid-range to deep ; Masculine, Feminine, or Gender Neutral (the werewolf is referred to using “he” once, but anyone is encouraged to audition)

About: A werewolf sent to track down Hector. Like other monsters, the werewolf believes that humans should be subjugated by creatures of the night (and eaten of course). The werewolf is always hungry, and so gibbers and has halting speech at times.
Notes: Flip from menacing to grovelling. The werewolf talks a tough game until it's faced with a more powerful opponent. This character is non-human, so an animalistic / rumbling voice and comfort with creature sounds will be highly favored. This character has a death scene.(recognition, puzzled, plotting): The scent of evil… The aromatic scent of a Devil’s power. But… why at a church? Well, no matter. My job here is done anyway… I suppose I’ll claim an advance on my reward.
(menacing, threatening): (laughter) Later… I’ll eat you later.
(groveling, panic): W-wait! I see… N-now I understand! If you want the woman and the child, you can have them! I-I-I’m sorry for trying to take them from you!

About: A demoness who subtly torments Isaac and makes him doubt his abilities.
Notes: The succubus is sultry and cunning by nature, so her actor must be comfortable with this type of performance. Evil laughter is a requirement. This character has physical conflict with another.
Role: Minor Antagonist
(reassuring, but coy): Don’t look so scared now. I just came to give you some advice. You have incredible power, but you’re not good at stabilizing it.
(coy, then mocking/pointed): You say such cruel things… It makes me sad. It seems there’s no need for me to lend a hand. Already… you have become quite friendly with the darkness, haven’t you?
(mocking, goading): That’s right. Your eyes… are so pretty… More… More… It will be wonderful if you meld with more darkness… (dark, evil laughter)

About: Dracula’s minions sent to help Isaac track down Hector. They are inexperienced and skeptical of Dracula and their mission to retrieve Hector.

(hushed, skeptical): I don’t think the Count is the only one who has lost his mind. Sir Isaac has been acting… erratic since we left the castle. Do you think he’s fit to lead this mission?
(serious, doubtful): If Sir Hector is our opponent, we won’t stand a chance. We have to report back to Count Dracula.
(angry): What… are you betraying us?! Sir Isaac! So first Hector, and now you?! Damn you…! You’ll pay for this!

About: A villager whom Rosaly frequently helps with mending. He is concerned about her taking in Hector and offers to come to her aid if she is in trouble.
Notes: None(conversational, sheepish): Thank you for doing some mending work for me the other day. I would do it myself, but I’m just bad at those kinds of things.
(scolding): You were planning to go into the forest, weren’t you, Ted? It’s one thing to wait for your dad, but don’t do it at night. You know it’s dangerous.
(confident, reassuring, lighthearted): Not to worry! Not to worry! If anything happens, me and Ted will come running. Right, Ted?

Accent: None required ; Eastern European okay
About: A villager who looks out for Ted while his father is away. She can be a bit hard on him when he gets into trouble. She has a good relationship with Rosaly and worries about her.
Notes: None(scolding): Hey you kids, you’d better get home before it gets too dark. Especially you, Ted! You were playing near the forest at the edge of town last night, weren’t you?!
(suspicious, worried): That man is still at your place, isn’t he? It worries me –- you carrying home that stranger, fallen by the side of the road… Who knows where he came from? Are you going to be all right?
(bright, conversational): Oh, Rosaly, dear, you’re on your way home now? Before you go, I want to thank you for all your help. My husband is finally on the mend. He even went out to work in the fields today!

About: Isaac but younger. He is arrogant and condescending towards those whom he deems are lesser in power than him. He is also insecure about his abilities, so it can be assumed his negative attitude towards others is a reflection of that.

(mocking/teasing, then confident): Tch. Are you afraid? Oh come now, we have nothing to fear. The Count is generous to those who have pledged themselves to the darkness.
(annoyed, urgent): What the hell are you doing? Hurry up, will you? We have to reach the castle before sunrise!
(annoyed, dismissive): Of course you’d have doubts when push comes to shove. Well, no matter. If you want to make the trek back to a burned village and frenzied humans, be my guest.

(defensive, apprehensive): I’m not afraid! A-and I don’t want to go back! … But, Isaac, are you sure this is a good idea? What if we aren’t welcome here…?
(formal, nervous, trying to hide it): I-I humbly pledge my service to you, my lord. I will follow you until death takes me.

About: A mercenary and sole parent to Ted before he is sent away on a mission. Though he only appears in flashbacks, he is proud of his work because it means that he can protect and provide for his son. Ted looks up to him.
Notes: None(resolute): It’s not like before. I’m not going because I like to fight anymore. As long as I remember I’m brandishing my sword for you, I believe that I’ll come back alive no matter what.
(bright, hopeful): It’s nice to have a home to come back to. So wait for me. I promise I’ll make some money and come back.

About: A mysterious, robed figure who summons Isaac to an audience with Dracula. It is unknown whether or not they are human or monster.
Notes: None(formal): Sir Isaac. Lord Dracula has requested your presence in the throne room.
(deadpan): Are you sure that this move is a wise one, my Lord? Surely you realize that a misstep would spell disaster for us.
(dismissive, then pointedly threatening): If you are so apprehensive, then perhaps you should not have crossed the threshold into my Master’s domain. You would do well to remember the oath you took.

About: As a child, Hector is introverted and suffers abuse and neglect at the hands of the adults around him due to his strange abilities. He gets along better with animals than people.
Notes: Convey fear and anguish. This character “haunts” Hector as a manifestation of his guilt and belief that he isn’t human, so some performances should be a bit unsettling or “creepy” later in the story.(begging, desperate): No, stop it! He’s my friend! Please don’t take him away!
(angry, tearful, imploring): I can’t stand it anymore…! I hate this! I don’t want this anymore! None of it! Anybody, somebody… help me!
(eerily bright / calm): Hector… You should just become a devil. Okay? Let’s do that! And then we can become friends.

About: Trevor is the descendant of a long line of monster hunters. Despite having recently defeated Dracula, he can't help but feel that something is terribly wrong. Trevor is highly observant and shows a great deal of empathy for those around him.
Notes: None. I have a soft spot for Terrence Stone’s performance, but I’m open to this project’s Trevor sounding completely different.(cocky, a bit disappointed): For one who served under Dracula, you seem much too weak. It’s been said that the Devil Foregmaster’s power rivals that of Death…
(pondering, deeply bothered): The aftermath of a witch trial… They seem more frequent lately. But why…? Something is wrong…
(apologetic, sheepish): You are a formidable warrior, though I hope you are not too injured. I was prepared to give it my all, but perhaps I got… carried away…

About: A mysterious time traveler sent to observe the goings on in Wallachia in the wake of Dracula’s defeat. Like Trevor, he is troubled by the dark turn of events.
Notes: This character is enigmatic and strange. Being able to pull off a similar crypticness to Adam D. Clark will be highly favored.(conversational, cryptic): This will not make sense to you, but to put it simply, I seek to maintain the flow of a greater will.
(chipper, cryptic): You might say that I’m… a traveler. Only half here. Not allowed to speak the truth. Not allowed to act upon reality. Yet one who knows all... That about covers it.
(pensive, then curious): Hmm. So it seems that things have settled down for now. But… what is this mood? What is this…? Perhaps I should see where these winds of destiny lead.

About: A mysterious priest who seems a little too interested in the goings on in Wallachia in the wake of Dracula’s defeat. He seems to be looking for Hector specifically.
Notes: This character is subtly menacing. Being able to pull off a similar performance to Ken Lally will be highly favored.(impressed): Well, well, devil forging, isn't it? Never seen that before. Quite impressive. It's enough to make your blood run cold.
(cryptic, ominous): So you’ve come, beckoned by the calamity. But it’s still early. The time when you’ll be needed has not come yet…
(rattled, trying to play it cool): It cannot be. No, that is not possible... I must make haste to complete the final touches. I beg your leave. Adieu.

About: Isaac’s younger sister. She is a witch and a healer with the ability to see into the future. After Isaac’s battle with Hector, she nurses him back to health, though she’s disturbed by the growing darkness in her brother’s heart.
Notes: None.(concerned, scolding): What are you doing? You shouldn’t be up!
(desperate, pleading): You must understand this! My brother is in the venomous grip of Lord Dracula's curse. The desires of a single man mean nothing. The curse rules him.
(gentle, firm): Do not let the curse take hold of you. I'm certain that she would not wish you to pay such a price for your revenge.

About: Hector’s mother is caused a great deal of grief by her son’s odd nature. She is fearful of him to the point that she verbally and physically abuses him.
