Case Closed (Detective Conan) Manga Dub
Project Overview
What is this?
This is a fandub of the official Case Closed Manga. We'll be using the official Viz Media translation as a basis, so that means we'll be using the localized names of the characters featured in the translation. This dub will feature immersive sounds effects and music directly from the anime in order to make this dub seem as official and as high quality as possible.
What's the Premise?
Jimmy Kudo (Japanese name: Shinichi Kudo) is a high school detective who sometimes works with the police to solve cases. During an investigation, he is attacked by members of a crime syndicate known as the Black Organization. They force him to ingest an experimental poison, but instead of killing him, the poison transforms him into a child. Adopting the pseudonym Conan Edogawa and keeping his true identity a secret, Kudo lives with his childhood friend Rachel Moore (Ran Mori) and her father Richard (Kogoro Mori), who is a private detective. Throughout the series, he tags along on Richard's cases, but when he is able to solve one, he uses a tranquilizer needle to put Richard to sleep, and impersonates his voice using a voice changer to reveal the solution to the case. He also enrolls in a local elementary school where he makes friends with a group of classmates who form their own Junior Detective club (Detective Boys). While he continues to dig deeper into the Black Organization, he frequently interacts with a variety of characters, including his professor friend Dr. Agasa, Ran's friend Serena Sebastian (Sonoko Suzuki), a fellow teenage detective Harley Hartwell (Heiji Hattori), various police detectives from different regions, and a phantom thief called the Kaito Kid.
Kudo later encounters an elementary school transfer student, Anita Hailey (Ai Haibara), who reveals herself to be the creator of the poison that shrunk him. She too had ingested the poison, but she is no longer affiliated with the Black Organization. She soon joins the Junior Detectives. During a rare encounter with the Black Organization, Conan helps the FBI plant a CIA agent, Kir, inside the Black Organization as a spy.
This is one of the most successful series in Japan, having multiple TV episodes, spin-offs, OVA's, TV Specials, and Movies
How Will This Work?
I will provide you all with PDF files of the manga, we will dub the series by its chapters because dubbing it by volume would just be way too much to handle. I'll also provide you a script containing the lines in the Manga, but you can still use the manga in order to understand what's happening visually. I'll edit the dubs myself and I will upload them to my youtube channel, if this dub becomes really successful I'll make a separate youtube channel for it.
Requirements
1.) You must have a Discord account, this is how I'll be able to contact you
2.) You must be 16 or older
3.) You must have a good quality Microphone, with little to no background noise
4.) You Have to turn in your lines on time, this is so I'll be able to edit the video with every voice I'll need
5.) You must read the chapter of the manga we're doing, this is so you'll know whats happening visually and how you should emote when you're recording your lines

Conan Edogawa is the result of Jimmy shrinking so he seems very mature for his age, he is around 6-7 years old so he should like a little boy, I would like for Conan to be voiced by a woman who can do a young boy’s voice

You don't have to imitate the roles this is just an example, but have your voice sound like a young boy

(Anxious, Determined) I have to find those men in black soon so I can get the substance that made me shrink!!
Rachel Moore, known as Ran Mori in Japan, is Jimmy Kudo's friend since elementary school. She loves Jimmy but is afraid to admit her feelings, and denies their relationship is romantic whenever the conversation is brought up. She often worries for his safety and waits for his return. As captain of the karate team and a regional champion, she is able to fend for herself physically against attackers but is still squeamish when it comes to films and shows in the horror genre. She is also skilled in Judo, like her father. She is very kind and helps anyone in need.
she should sound like a teenage girl, have it be a normal sounding voice but still youthful
(Annoyed, Sarcastic) Oh, Nothing… Who cares if you’re all over the news and taking cases away from my dad…? Doesn’t bother me!!
(Concerned) It’s fine to daydream about all these girls, but… You’ve got to pick one and stick with her!!
(Sad, Concerned) He's leaving... Jim--Jimmy.... At that moment, I had a strange premonition... That I would never see Jimmy again... A bad premonition...
Richard Moore, known as Kogoro Mori in Japan, is Rachel's father and a private detective. Despite his irresponsible habits of drinking, gambling, and flirting with young women, he cares deeply for his daughter and at times displays his sense of honor and strict ethics. He is skilled in Judo.
He should have a mid to deep yet youthful sort of voice, give him a rough sort of voice but not to the point of it hurting your voice
(Drunk) Aw shut up!! I'm just very selective with my cases!! Say, where's that wannabe detective friend of yours? Weren't you with him today?
(Excited) I just got called on a case!! The clients say their daughter was kidnapped by a man dressed in black!! They say they need my help!!
(Excited, Happy) Heh heh heh... A case!! A case!! A case is finally calling me...! Never fear. The great private investigator Richard Moore will look everything over!! HA HA HA
Herschel Agasa, known in Japan as Hiroshi Agasa, appears as an absent-minded professor and neighbor to Jimmy Kudo. He is one of the few characters in the story who knows of Kudo's predicament and helps hide his identity as Conan Edogawa, inventing devices such as the voice-impersonating bowtie, tracking glasses and badges, and enhanced shoes and hoverboards, and an instant soccer ball so Conan can fend for himself.
Have him sound like an elderly scientist (but not too elderly, he is only 53), with a bit of a mid sounding voice voice
(Serious) Listen, Jimmy!! Do not tell anybody that you've become small!! if those guys find out that you're Jimmy Kudo, they might go after you again!! And then the people around you could get hurt!!
(Nervous, Glad) Oh yeah, Miss Rachel!! I know it's short notice, but do you think this boy could stay with you for a short while?
(Whispering) Listen!! Sooner or later the men in black will find out that your body wasn't found... then they'll Immediately suspect whoever's going in and out of this house...
Inspector Joseph Meguire, known in Japan as Inspector Juzo Megure, is a veteran police officer in charge of most of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Division 1 of the Criminal Investigation Section. He has worked with Jimmy Kudo, Jimmy's father Booker, and was even the boss of Richard Moore prior to the latter becoming a private detective.
He should have a deep sounding voice, have him sound like a detective
(Glad) We had to rely on your help once again, Jimmy!! We're indebted to you...
(Investigating) Let me get this straight, Jimmy... There are no signs of a malfunction with the roller coaster itself... and judging from the circumstances, suicide is likely
(Investigating) I see... So when you returned to your room, this man was already dead...
Gin is a high-ranking agent in the organization, a merciless killer who fed the APTX 4869 poison to Jimmy Kudo. He drives a black Porsche 356A and is also known as Melkior. Despite his aggressive demeanor, he has repeatedly shown to be a highly cunning and deductive man, seeing through any deception perpetrated against him.
He should have a Deep and scary-sounding voice, but not to the point where he doesn't sound realistic
(Serious, Angry) No more playing detective for you!!
(Angry, Concerned) No guns!! This place is still crawling with cops!! Heh heh heh... This poison is untraceable in the body. it'll be an unsolvable murder!! But this substance is still in development-- never been used on humans...
(Serious, Glad) So long... Great detective!!
Vodka is a member of the Black Organization and is Gin's partner. He is usually seen alongside Gin. Unlike Gin, Vodka is slow-witted and easy to trick.
He should have a deep sounding, menacing voice
(Serious) Don't be in such a rush... the money first...
(Serious) Here ya go-- the evidence revealing your company's involvement in gun smuggling!
(Concerned, Nervous) C'mon, Let's get outta here!!
Amy Yoshida, known as Ayumi Yoshida in Japan, is Conan Edogawa's friend and classmate. Amy was the sole female member of the Junior Detective League until they got Anita Hailey to join. She has a crush on Conan, which makes him uncomfortable. She is a naive and innocent little girl who shows courage from time to time and acts as the team's cheerful spirit.
Give her a high pitched voice, make her sound cute and youthful
(Excited) C'mon, Conan! Come with us. Let's go ghost-hunting!!
(Excited, Scared) That's right... They say the owner of the house was murdered five years ago. It's the Mansion of Horror!!
(Sad, Teary-eyed) Conan, you believe me, don't you? Don't you!?
Mitch Tsuburaya, known as Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya in Japan, is a friend of Amy Yoshida and George Kojima who enjoys reading science books and takes a scientific approach to problem-solving. He is infatuated with Amy, and later Anita Hailey. He is a smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve most problems.
He should have a nasally sounding voice, but not to the point of being annoying, I would like Mitch to be voiced by a woman
(Serious) In this day and age of science, There's no such thing as ghosts!! Goblins and ghosts are TV and manga
(Explaining) I, uh, brought flashlights for everybody. And a compass so we don't get lost.
(Explaining) Oh, I see! The wind just pushed the windowpane open. You see, it's things like this that make people think there's a ghost here!
George Kojima, known as Genta Kojima in Japan, is the overweight, self-proclaimed leader of the Junior Detective League. He loves food and can eat more than all the other Junior Detective League members combined. Even though he can be intimidating, he is actually very kind. He is a friend of Amy Yoshida and Mitch Tsuburaya, and has been shown to admire his father, who owns a liquor store. Both he and Mitch have a crush on Amy, and they both envy Conan since she likes him.
He should sound a bit goofy and a bit raspy, not too goofy though, I would like for him to be voiced by a man who can do a good kid impression
(Annoyed) No need to invite him, Amy!! A guy like that won't be any help!!
(Angry) Then come with us! Prove to us that there aren't any ghosts!!
(Excited) That settles it! Tomorrow after school the four of us are gonna storm that mansion!!!
Shiho Miyano is a former member of the Black Organization under the code name Sherry. A gifted chemist at a young age, she is the inventor of APTX 4869, the poison that shrank Jimmy Kudo. Both her parents and sister, Akemi Miyano, also worked for the organization. Shiho betrays the organization after Gin killed her sister. She took the drug in a suicide attempt, but rather than dying, she, like Jimmy, became small. When she was 18, she escaped the organization and went into hiding. She is taken in by Dr. Agasa and is given the alias Anita Hailey: known as Ai Haibara in the original Japanese version
I want for her to have a deadpan sort of voice, she should sound serious most of the time, but she also jokes sometimes
(Shy, Serious) Baker, District 2... Number 22
(Serious) ... APTX 4869. Know what that is? It's the name of the drug you were given.
(Serious, Sinister) That's not my real name. I'm Sherry. That's my code name anyway. So... Are you surprised? Well, Jimmy Kudo?
Serena Sebastian, known in Japan as Sonoko Suzuki, is Rachel Moore's best friend. She has light brown hair and comes from a wealthy family with a high social status, although she does not flaunt this, preferring to be an outgoing social girl who chases after and flirts with attractive boys.
I would like for her to have a mid sounding voice, but also have it be a bit girly
(Excited) Hey, want to go see her in her wedding dress before the ceremony?
(Happy) You look beautiful, Miss Matsumoto!!
(Sad, Crying) M-Maybe Miss Matsumoto is already... But how awful to poison Miss Matsumoto's favorite drink, lemon tea!
Harley Hartwell, known in Japan as Heiji Hattori, is a high school detective from Osaka and Jimmy Kudo's rival. His intelligence is at par with that of Jimmy, which often leads to intense rivalry between them. He later becomes friends with Conan Edogawa after discovering his true identity as Jimmy. Although he tries to hide it, he often gets concerned for Jimmy's safety when dealing with the Black Organization and warns him to be careful. He has a relationship with Kazuha Toyama, his childhood friend and love interest.
He should have a normal, youthful sounding voice, just a teenage detective
(Serious) My name's Harley Hartwell!! Just like Jimmy, I'm a high school detective!!!
(Explaining) Yeah... People talk of Harley of the West and Jimmy from the East!! We're always being compared.
(Explaining) Nothin'! I just want to meet 'im to find out.. If Jimmy Kudo is truly a man worthy of being... compared to me!!
Kazuha Toyama is Harley Hartwell's childhood friend and a daughter of a commissioner who is positioned high in the Osaka police department. Harley and Kazuha's fathers are close friends. Her relationship with Harley closely mirrors Rachel Moore's with Jimmy Kudo; she is too shy to admit that they feel more than friendship for their respective partner. She and Harley share a pouch with a broken handcuff link which is their good luck charm. She was, at first, jealous of Rachel because she mistakenly assumed that Rachel was in love with Harley and had a lot of coincidental similarities with him. Upon finding out about Rachel's and Jimmy's relationship and Rachel's kind personality, she later becomes close friends with Rachel.
I want for her to have a mid to high pitched voice, she should sound friendly and like a teenage girl
(Suspicious) You're Kudo, right? Harley told me all about you. I know everything!
(Annoyed) Let's just get one thing straight! Harley and I go way back! Our friendship is forged with bonds of steel! If you wanna mess with Harley, you'll have to go through me first!
(Nervous) Oh, no. you've got it all wrong! We're just friends. I look after Harley like a big sister!
WE'LL 100% NEED EXTRAS, a series like this has multiple background characters and significant roles that I couldn't cover all in this casting call! so don't think that just because you're an extra you'll just be used minimally, we will need you for a lot of things, I would really appreciate it if you audition for this role as well!
