About Buried Stars
Buried Stars is a Korean visual novel that follows 7affiliates of a reality tv show trapped under a collapsed stage. As they wait for rescue in an increasingly hazardous environment, a mysterious attacker begins killing them one by one. The game follows protagonist Do Yoon Han as he attempts to discover the killer, and learn more about his castmates.
About this dub
Buried Stars is among my favorite games, and I've decided to direct a fan dub for it! Please note that as a fandub this is purely a passion project and you will not be paid for your work. For this dub I am looking for voice actors (obviously) editors and assistant directors. Specific requirements for each type of audition will be in the role's individual audition description, so be sure to read that!
General audition requirements
- You must be 16 years or older to participate in this project.
- Please state your name and age at the beginning of your audition file if you are auditioning for a character. If you are going for editor or assistant director, you can put it in your file description.
-All team members must use discord, as its the app where all project details and updates will be shared.
-Leave your discord username and ID in the description so I can easily contact you!
-Your audition file must have good audio quality, auditions with bad audio or background noise will be passed over.
Time commitment
This is a long term project and will likely run over the course of a view months, the workload will be portioned as to not put undo stress on the rest of your life, but please be reasonably sure you will be able to stay involved over a long period of time.

(Do-Yoon discussing the results of his body examination. informative, calm.)
“Seungyeon was hit in the head by a piece of concrete. We found it right next to her. That was the only one with a bloodstain. Obviously, it was the cause of the fatal injury.”
(Do Yoon starts off angry but by the end has broken into sorrow)
"You get it now? I'm a real betrayer. I was just keeping my mouth shut! I'm not worthy enough to have your trust! Why...why did you do that? Saving you was my only solace... I'm going to live as a betrayer from now on. I can't deceive anymore... "
Gyu-Hyuk's vocal range is medium-medium low.
Gyu-Hyuk Lee is the culprit of Buried Stars. Like Do-Yoon, Gyu-Hyuk seems to act as a center of calm within the group, however he lacks Do-Yoon's assertiveness. Gyu-Hyuk is reserved when it comes to his emotions, to the point where Do-Yoon and Juyoung encourage him to assert himself more often. He carries around a great deal of grief due to his mother's suicide. When he learns that the producer of Bstars, Seungyeon took actions that were a factor in his mother's decision to kill herself, his grief becomes too much to bear and sends him down a path of murder.

"You looked quite troubled before you came up on stage... I could easily tell just by looking at you.
(Gyu-Hyuk thanks Do-Yoon. Mostly thankful, but unsure and awkward toward the end.)
"When the rescue team comes and we get out of here... I’ll tell everyone you saved me. I’ll make sure your heroic act is publicly known. Without your timely help I would have died already. That's why I... "
(Guilty and despairing- Gyu-Hyuk is having an emotional breakdown.)
"Its all my fault... Do Yoon... You shouldn’t have saved me... If I had died earlier, things wouldn’t have gone this far."
Juyoung min has a medium or medium high voice.
She speaks in a gentle and sensitive way. Juyoung is a very caring person who often acts in favor of the groups emotional needs, and consoles those when they need it. She is exceptionally driven toward her dream of being an idol, which has caused her to do things she deeply regrets. Chief of her regrets is leaving her band without ever giving a reason or contacting them again. When Juyoung is talking about her past, she sounds sad and regretful. Juyoung suffers from panic attacks, and generalized anxiety during stressful situations.
(caring, concerned.)
"Do-Yoon, you are going to call your band members, right? I usually don't comment on other people's business, but in this case I think you should before its too late."
(regretful)
"As time went by... it became more difficult to contact them. I was worried I'd bring up their painful memories. We were sincerely committed to our future. I even told them we'd be together forever."
(intensely panicked)
"Just stop for a second! You're only making things worse... I... can't breathe..."
Ihna's vocal range is medium or medium high.
Ihna can be very blunt and sarcastic at times, she is a moody person and easy to provoke. She often gets into petty fights with Hyesung throughout the game. Ihna suffered abuse at the hands of her father, who wanted a boy and not a girl. As a result, she's tried to bury her past, and the idea that it might be brought up again inspires true panic within her. Inha often tries to act tough in stressful situations to avoid looking like a victim. She easily empathizes with, and attempts to protect "weak" or vulnerable people, while scorning anyone who would bully them.
(Read as defiant and blunt)
"Hey, I do whatever I want with my eyes. What are you looking at? Don't fall for me, you ain't my type."
(Ihna is should be read as hostile, angry and sarcastic here.)
"I know its all very sad isn't it! But you know what? You brought it upon yourself! Give me the bag!"
(Ihna has just inadvertantly pushed Seil to his death. She is in shock and denial.)
"Is he dead? I... I didn't mean to do this... You saw it right? I didn't push him... Do-yoon, didn't you see it?"
Hyesung's vocal range is medium or medium low.
Hyesung is the most aggressive and impulsive member of the group, frequently trying to provoke others and quick to anger at their provocations. After he was falsely accused of starting a fight, Hyesung was expelled from school and his parents abandoned him, Hyesung was left with a deep insecurity and the belief that he would only have value if he achieved fame and glory, whatever the cost. His aggressiveness is also a front for his sensitivity and insecurity.
(Hyesung is smugly trying to provoke Inha)
"Oh, really? Oh I'm sorry, did I strike a nerve? You seemed so surprised that even I was startled."
(Hyesung is griefstriken over the loss of someone important to him. He starts out angry, until he can't hold in his grief anymore.)
"Just what are you trying to pull? I'm not asking for a trial here, you know?! My heart is aching. I feel like my head is going to explode...can things get any worse? can they?!"
(Hyesung discussing how his whole class betrayed him, getting him expelled. He should sound on the verge of tears.)
"Everyone testified I hit him first. They said I'd been ruining the class atmosphere, and eventually I attacked poor guy. My mom begged his parents to accept her settlement money."
Seil's vocal range is medium or medium high.
As a former failed competitor of Bstars, Seil has an inferiority complex and feels as though no one values him. This insecurity leads him to be agitated and even hostile when these feelings are validated, as well as surprised and happy when someone does show concern or admiration for him.
(Seil is frustrated, why doesn't anyone listen to him...?)
"What a disaster! Like you said, there were so many warning signs. That's why I told them not to rush it! Pushing everything to meet a tighter deadline..."
(Seil is surprised and happy at the praise he's been given.)
"You really think it helped? Thanks... I'll remember that."
(Seil is being cornered by the others, read as defensive and hostile.)
"I didn't know you would do this to me. Do you all agree with her that I have to open my bag? Wow, what a joke. After everything I've done for you, this is what I get!"
Seungyeon Shin has a medium medium-high vocal-range.
Seungyeon is the ruthless and coldhearted producer of Buried Stars. Seungyeon is manipulative, and can come across as warm, kind or friendly when she needs to convince someone to do something for her. She is an expert at telling people what they want to hear, like telling Seil that he was special, and telling Do-Yoon that he won't be considered a betrayer forever. When it comes to business though, Seungyeon threw her conscience away a long time ago, and only cares about her career.
(cold, blunt.)
"Do Yoon. We don’t have time. Stop trying to put together broken pieces. This is the time to test your true potential. Think wisely, I’m giving you a chance. So, whats your answer?"(warm, reassuring.)
"As long as we keep our mouths shut, no one will know what went on between us. By the end of this show, no one will call you a betrayer anymore. I will help you get rid of that title... it is only part of the show, after all."
(shrieking, desperately coercive. If she doesn't convince Gyu-Hyuk, she'll die.)
"That's right, you'll be fine as long as you do as I say. You got popular, topped the list, became daddy's proud son. You owe me, right? Your parents are gone anyway! Its your world! I can make it up to you, get me out! What? No, get me out! thats how you are going to live!"
Su-Chang Ha has a medium vocal range.
Su-Chang Ha, known as plughole online, frequently messages Do-Yoon to advise him on various situations throughout the game to ensure his survival so he can give Su-Chang's sister an autograph. Su-Chang has a grouchy and sassy personality, he prefers to make witty remarks as opposed to discussing his feelings, which often doesn't jive well with Do-Yoon's more somber demeanor. Su-Chang carries a genuine love for his sister and a genuine concern for Do-Yoon's well being.
(read as a sharp and witty remark.)
"So you're Do-Yoon. You look a lot handsomer on TV."
(annoyed, grumbling)
"I had to come all the way out here to see you. This hospital is crazy far, I couldn't find a parking spot. What is this, Disneyland?"
(witty, then dumbfounded at Do-Yoon not getting the reference.)
"Hey, Do-Yoon, check this out. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. You know Casablanca right? The movie! It was the last line! You don't? Seriously?
The Announcer of the Buried Stars audition rankings. For this audition, vocal range or gender both don't matter to me! What I'm looking for is someone who can deliver their lines crisply, and with power. Keep in mind the full time that you are an announcer, and everything you say should be designed to induce and relieve suspense in an epic way.
"We have the interim result of the SMS vote!”
“Viewers showed overwhelming support for Gyu-Gyuk for his gentle nature and the talent he inherited from his father! Will he be able to maintain this incredible momentum?"
"There is only going to be one winner, so you can’t give up or hesitate! This is a survival game, you either survive or perish!”
The three lines listed here represent three extra voice parts with very few lines. The first line represents Woosuk, the spiteful singer of the band masquerade who feels betrayed by Do-Yoon leaving and ruining his reputation. The second is the guitarist of the band Masquerade who is shocked over Do-Yoon leaving. The third represents a nosy and fishy reporter who is seen near the end of the game.

"C'mon, just give it a second though. I'm not a phony! I'm a renowned and highly decorated journalist!"
The editing director will be responsible for both helping edit the videos together, as well as helping me keep track of assignments from the editors. The only reason I didn't put this as an assistant director role is because I am looking for a responsible manager who is also a very experienced editor. I may use you as an advisor and run ideas by you, but your main responsibility is helping me lead the editing team. For your application, please include a sample of your work or provide links to where your work can be viewed. Having references who can vouch for your reliability, or a full resume would help a lot too! I'm only looking for one of this role, but if you apply here I may still take you on as an editor if not editing director.
