About [BUNGOU STRAY DOGS - the English Fandub] - Character Auditions! Recruiting VAs, Editors, and Writers!! Episodes 4-12 + OVA (Some roles will continue into Season 2!!)

Are you a fan of Kafka Asakiri's acclaimed manga/anime series, BUNGOU STRAY DOGS? Are you an aspiring Voice Actor, Editor, or Writer, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to work alongside some big names in the Online Voice Acting/Fandubbing community? (including StarbotDubs, Philsterman10, and PhantomSavage)
Then you should definitely consider joining our production team!!

My name is Henry Wills, known as SirHenryEdwardVA on Youtube, and other numerous voice acting sites. I’ve had the pleasure of lending my voice to various comic dubs and fandubs, as well as some original video games and audiodramas that are currently in the works.

Something I have frequently noticed in many projects that I have been a part of, is that whatever good intentions project leaders may start off with, the end result is often not as impressive as they would have originally anticipated. Complications may arise with voice actors and editors failing to meet deadlines, or with individuals having to drop out the project for personal reasons. This often causes content creators to settle for producing sub-par content. Which, in all fairness, is absolutely fine if one is only seeking to build their vocal portfolio, or if they’re simply participating in projects as a hobby. It is unpaid work after all. But at the same time, it may instill bad habits that you don’t want to keep, if you strive to work in the professional voice acting/editing/writing industry one day.

This has prompted me to think, what if one were to attempt to produce an anime fandub with the same efficiency and quality as an official dub? Surely, with the plethora of talented writers, editors, and voice actors the internet has to offer, it couldn’t be that much of a challenge!

That is why I have taken up the task of producing a full-series English Fandub of the popular anime: BUNGOU STRAY DOGS.

In case you are not particularly familiar with the anime in question, I have enclosed a brief synopsis of the series from its Wikipedia page:

“Bungo Stray Dogs (文豪ストレイドッグス Bungō Sutorei Doggusu?, lit. Literary Stray Dogs) is a Japanese manga series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which has been serialized in the magazine Young Ace since 2012. An anime television series adaptation by Bones aired in 2016 in two parts, the first part aired between 7 April 2016 and 23 June 2016, and the second part aired between 6 October 2016 and 22 December 2016.

The story centers on individuals who are gifted with supernatural powers and use them for different purposes including holding a business, solving mysteries, and carrying out missions assigned by the mafia. The story mainly follows the members of the "Armed Detective Agency" and their everyday lives.
Most characters in the series are named after famous literary authors and/or characters in their works, including Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, Atsushi Nakajima, Agatha Christie, Osamu Dazai, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Rampo Edogawa, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, Natsuhiko Kyogoku, Kenji Miyazawa, Doppo Kunikida, and Akiko Yosano.”

    (series wiki page)

We've released 3 Episodes of the fandub thus far, but production has been slow and tedious as we've been "testing the waters" as to how this project would be received. Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback, our team has decided to move out of this "beta-test" phase, and to move forward with dubbing the entire series!

(follow this link to view the episodes that we've released up to this point)

However, if we are to accomplish this, we need to expand our team. We are currently recruiting in 3 areas:

    VOICE ACTORS:

We're looking to cast all kinds of roles, including main and supporting characters! (some roles will even continue into season 2!) This allows up-and-coming online Voice Actors to work alongside some bigger names in the community, and to get a better feel of what something akin to in-studio anime dubbing would look like. (NOTE: in order to be considered for any role, auditioning VAs must have a high quality USB/XLR Microphone, and produce high-quality audio recordings with little-to-no background noise, reverb, or echo. IF YOU ARE VOICE VERIFIED ON CCC, you will not be prioritized, but you WILL be highly considered.)

    WRITERS:

We are in need of talented script-writers to assist us in localizing episode scripts from Japanese into English. This process entails the close examination of the series' English subtitles, and reworking them into clever and expertly written lines that match perfectly with the character's lip movements. If you are interested in assisting us in joining our writer's circle, please apply under the "WRITER" audition section! (see instructions to apply under section.)

    EDITORS:
In order to maintain a constant release schedule (weekly/biweekly episode releases) we also are in need of experienced editors. If you are proficient in Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or any other professional editing software, and are interested in assisting us in editing fandub episodes, please apply under the "EDITOR" audition section! (see instructions to apply under section.)

Remember, in the event that you are selected as a candidate to work any of these categories, handing in your work in accordance with the set deadline is key. This project is meant to be fun, it it will also entail some hard work. Rest assured, it will all be worth it when you finally get to sit back and watch the finished project.

If you have any other questions about auditioning or anything about the project in general, please feel free to private message me.

In closing, on behalf of the entire BSDdub team, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering this project, and we eagerly wait in anticipation to see what kind of talent you'll bring to the table! With your help, we can make this something truly spectacular.
