Project Overview
SYNOPSIS
Broken Controller is an auditory series about Creepypasta and SCP, stylized much like a radio show. Due to recent online reports of haunted/hacked video games, SCP has decided to hunt the games down and contain them. Slenderman, the leader of the Creepypastas, realizes that this could be a threat to their society, and sends off his best hunters to find the games before SCP does.
REQUIREMENTS
- You must be at least 13 years of age.
- You must be willing to contribute to the project when you are called upon.

Homicidal Liu is one of the antagonists of the series. He is a survivor of an attack from his brother Jeff The Killer when "the incident" first occurred. Since then, Liu has vowed to seek out his brother and either try to somehow cure him of his insanity or kill him. Dr. Bright hires him and partners him with Jane The Killer to find Jeff.
Liu is a no nonsense kind of a guy, determined to find his brother, Jeff. Despite his rather violent previous attempts at catching him, part of Liu wants to talk with Jeff and try to fix the hostility between them. This shows his calm, peaceful side that he forced himself to hide for justice.
Liu is a couple years older than Jeff, who is 38 years old in this project. We imagine that his voice is a little bit gruff, not very energetic, but still has some warmth to it.
[Cunning] "For twenty-five years I've been searching. It's... good to see you again..."
[Calm] "Wherever he is, he certainly is quiet about it. Just wait for the papers, they'll shed some light on his whereabouts."
[Desperately] "Think of what it was like when we were kids. Don't you want to go back to something like that?"
Clockwork is a supporting character and a member of one of the hunting teams. She will most likely make an appearance when the main cast stumbles upon her team out and about, or at the home base when the teams are resting.
Clockwork is an active individual with a kind and caring spirit. She is optimistic and aims to help others, especially those in great need. She is greatly determined and a great supporter. Even when she’s not feeling so hopeful, she always tries to look for the bright side.
Natalie possesses a sweet tone to her voice, and being a trans girl, it may be a little lower than expected, but is still feminine. Please take note of that when recording.
[Sweetly] "Toby, sweetie, would you be a doll and get me my hatchet please?"
[Optimistically] "We found this toy that seems to have some stuff to say about the whole kidnapping thingy, so that should help!"
[Caring yet nervous] "Do you need any help with that? Be careful!"
Jane is one of the antagonists of the series. She was fifteen years old when Jeff first began his killing spree. Being his neighbor, she was a close and easy target, or at least her parents were, as Jane was out with her friends that night. It was when she came home that she caught him on his way out of the house. For ten years, she hunted for him, planning to kill him to avenge her friends. Despite her determination, she eventually gave up looking for him and went back to society, not wanting to waste her life away, like she assumed Jeff would have wanted anyway. It wasn't until Dr. Bright got in touch with her and partnered her with Homicidal Liu that she continued her search.
Jane is usually co-operative and quick with a joke, sometimes sassy. She is strong and determined, kind to strangers, friends and family. Her enemies tend to get her sassy side.
Jane is 40 years old in this project. She is Asian, and may have a slight accent because of it, particularly Chinese. Her voice is sometimes quite welcoming, but other times, simply haunting. She's usually calm about most situations.
[Judgmentally] "Let's be real here, if he gets away, he'll probably die of natural causes. Have you SEEN him lately? It's ridiculous."
[Calmly] "To be honest, if we were allies, I'd probably end up being besties with the dragon. She seems cool."
[Carelessly] "I gave up after some time because I... really just didn't care."
Bloody Painter is a supporting character and a member of one of the hunting teams. He will most likely make an appearance when the main cast stumbles upon her team out and about, or at the home base when the teams are resting.
Helen is calm and quiet, though a tiny bit selfish and pretty defensive. He's polite enough to get by in most situations. He doesn't generally speak unless spoken to, or if he absolutely feels that he needs to have some form of input on the conversation at hand, which is often enough.
You can expect Helen's voice to sound quite low in terms of tone, but at an average pitch for a young adult male. Maybe he sounds somewhat edgy? Who knows, it's a role that's very open to experimentation.
[Disgusted] "Trust me when I say that place is messed up. The graffiti has no balance to it."
[Carelessly] "Maybe I did leave a mark giving away our position to authorities... Whoops."
[Slightly frantic] "It wasn't me. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything."
Slenderman is a character we are not permitted to say much about in terms of backstory.
Slenderman comes off as quite creepy and intimidating when first encountered, but after getting to know him, you may soon find that he's actually a gentle, caring, and soft spoken being.
Slenderman's voice sounds like that of an elderly man, possibly even the ghost of one. It is raspy, dry, slow, haunting and breathy. Some editing is most likely needed to achieve the exact sound we're searching for. Any auditions submitted will be experimented with by the audio editors. Pitch will not be adjusted. Imagine the ent from The Lord of the Rings, but much calmer and gentle.
[Solemnly] "You are very young, little one. It was a shame to see you go so soon in your life, you had so much left to do in this world."
[Reminiscent] "Ah, yes, he is one of my closest, most trusted proxies. You seem to have gotten along well enough with him. I remember when we first found him all of those years ago."
[Wisely with a hint of humor] "I have been in this world for much longer than you may realize, little child. I have witnessed the many acts of man... and sometimes I wonder how strong they must be to stay around for so much time."
Dramatic Reporter is a nameless character that sometimes appears between scenes, giving reports as to how humans involved in incidents with the Pastas and the general public feel about the whole situation with SCP's mission. DR is all about the gossip, and often uses flowery language when describing something or asking someone they're interviewing a usually strange question.
[Passionately] "Ooh, interesting! Terrifying! I’ve heard you and your team drove after them and their car, but they disappeared into the forest without a trace! Is this true?"
Shy Guard works as a security guard of a storage facility that harbors many game cartridges that SCP has been collecting. Despite her position and efficiency, she is quite shy and struggles talking to others without stuttering.
[Nervously stuttering] "Well… we were on guard as usual… and we heard some noises up around the corner by some other storage units and decided to investigate… but when we came back, someone was stealing the boxes…"
Saleswoman is an old lady at a yard sale. She is sweet and innocently unaware of the haunted video game crisis.
[Sweetly] "I don't remember how this got here in my basement, but then again, I don't know how much of anything got in there! It's all the mystery of an old woman's basement, I suppose."
Melissa is an angel that resides in NES Godzilla. She was battling a demon that was attempting to torment her in her mind, and as a young teenager, lost the battle and ran into traffic. Her soul stayed in the cartridge with Red until her old friend Zach came and destroyed him.
[Thankfully] "I'm not sure how I could ever repay you for rescuing me. Well, I hope you all have the best of luck on your journey, and that we may meet again soon."
Crazy Lady is an aggressive woman the Pasta team encounters at a game store. She strongly supports SCP's movement, and is a bit radical about it too.
[Angry] "Don't you know what video games are already doing to our youth before this whole haunted mess came about?! It's corruption! It's brainwashing! Video games must be BANNED!!!"
Max is a thirteen year old boy whose brother’s spirit, Derrick, resides in a copy of Double Dragon.
[Confused and Sad] "All I know about it is that they want to take Derrick away from me. I... really don't want that. I know he's in there somewhere, I saw it for myself. You believe me, right?"
Sally Williams is an undead young girl who lives in the Pasta mansion. She's a poltergeist and tends to play with floating objects and other objects. Her responsibility in the mansion is to scare away humans who wander too close.
[Happily] "I'm waiting for Smile to come home so that we can play! He loves playing in the leaves."
Billy was the neighboring kid of Jeff and Liu whose birthday party was sabotaged by a fire. Nowadays, Billy is in his early thirties, and is bigoted human scum.
[Smugly] "Ayy, Jeff! What's goin' on, dude? Haven't gotten much done, I see? Heh heh. Looks like you got a bit stuck."
Hypno is one of the many Pokemon that manages to escape SCP. He was the only one that decided to follow the Pasta team when asked to do so. This is because he felt that a lot of them had similar goals to his own, and that the mansion would be a convenient place for him.
[Hauntingly] "It seems the children have decided to follow us into the deep, dark woods... I wonder why..."
BRVR is a murderous, attention driven Pikachu. He is one of the many Pokemon that manages to escape SCP at first. His name means “Brother,” therefore most people call him that or “Bro.” Steven in particular calls him “Brochu.”
[Angrily] "It's a trap, don't you see it? We'll be killed if we follow them. For sure they're up to something..."
EEeeEE (pronouned “E”) is a corrupted hybrid of Espeon. She is one of the many Pokemon that manages to escape SCP at first.
[Nervously] "What if we get lost out there? What if we get caught? What will we do if we can't fight them???"
Posey is a Webkinz Pom Pom kitty plushie whose owner was kidnapped. She had vowed to find her.
[Determined] "I refuse to believe that there's no hope. She is out there, and I will find her no matter what!"
Eula is Posey's owner. She is a sweet and brave little girl.
[Softly] "I was so scared, I didn't know what to do! I just hope that she will be okay..."
Ms. Pencil Neck is a creepy witch with a long, stiff neck. She lives in the mansion and is a good friend of Sally Williams.
[Hauntingly] "A little bird told me that you were dead in the woods. I ate the bird, because I didn't believe what it said."
