Project Overview
We never learn or Bokutachi wa benkyou ga dekinai is a comedy and harem series written by Taishi Tsutsui. The synopsis is this. His late father always said that a useless man should strive to be useful, so to that end, third-year high school student Nariyuki Yuiga dedicated himself to becoming a high-achieving student in his school, despite his history of poor grades. In order to give his destitute family a better life, his ultimate goal is to obtain the special VIP nomination, a prestigious scholarship covering all future university tuition fees. Although Nariyuki could feasibly be a shoe-in for the nomination, he is constantly overshadowed by classmates Rizu Ogata and Fumino Furuhashi in mathematics and literature, respectively.

Nariyuki is shown to be a hardworking student that even though he was not good in studying in the past, following his father's encouragement to become someone who can do everything, through hard work he was able to achieve a steady grade of 80% on all subjects. Nariyuki is also a caring person, as his ultimate goal for getting a scholarship was to give his family who is poor a better life. Not only that, but he is also caring for his friends whenever they're in any trouble, always helping them out without a single complaint.
He can also be dull and dense as he's oblivious to the romantic feelings the girls have for him throughout the series, especially Rizu Ogata's and Uruka Takemoto's.

Fumino is a silent girl, seldom talks to classmates except for very few close friends. Nariyuki is the only male friend once she recognized him as "teacher". Because of pain caused by her father during her childhood, made her gather a fear of aggressive men. noticed in the early chapters, who the only exception to is Nariyuki. She is emotional and very sensitive to feelings and does not want to hurt Rizu and Uruka despite her having positive feelings for Nariyuki. She sometimes acts as Nariyuki's consultant in love issues.

A math and science genius since young, she is known as the "clockwork Thumbelina". However, she isn't good with reading people's feelings and emotions, thus failing her humanities and not recognizing that she is in love with Nariyuki. From the time she was young she was never satisfied with a vague answer, which she finds humans emotion to be incomprehensible as compared to mathematics or science, and is oblivious to her surroundings once she's focused on something.She is also very timid.She is a very serious girl, always wants to understand human behaviors, especially love issues, by scientific methods. She is extremely determined, and sometimes stubborn, to attain psychology in university, although the reasons had been changed in later chapters.

Uruka is an active girl and excellent in sports, especially swimming. However, she is appalling in all academic subjects, and very reluctant to study. Once she is studying difficult topics, she burns out easily.She is friendly and has good relationships with all of the main characters. She expresses likes and dislikes very easily, often makes Nariyuki unready to understand.She loves Nariyuki since middle school and is willing to study English when Nariyuki helps her to meet admission requirements for English for the Otowa Sports University.

Mafuyu is a messy person and often needs to have her room cleaned. She is also very clumsy, often committing "blunders" that put her in undesirable situations and oftentimes hurting herself in the process.
She thinks that people should follow their talent and that they shouldn't be swayed by emotions, which put her in conflict with Nariyuki Yuiga in the series-opening chapters.

Asumi likes to tease Nariyuki just for fun, although her jokes are usually harmless.
She will do anything that she can to pretend that she and Nariyuki love each other after Asumi lies to her father that Nariyuki is her boyfriend.
She hates to be mentioned as a "repeater"/Rōnin or mistaken as a middle schooler.
