Project Overview
An audio horror-drama produced by myself, Twiggy Shei. The Ramship universe is an original creation of mine, and is not affiliated with any other brand or trademark.
…In 2301, fifteen years after the discovery of slipspace, construction began on NASA’s first ever Ramship, a vehicle that would propel the human race into the stars. With funding and assistance from the genius minds at Centerfold Applied Sciences and prominent universities around the globe, the first ever Ramship, Kadatheron, was fitted with what would be the prototype slipspace drive. With a highly advanced Primary Intelligence Matrix (at least at the time), everything seemed primed for humanity to take to the stars and finally go where no man had gone before…
But it was then that tragedy struck. The Kadatheron, much like countless prototype spacecraft before it, would never return from its maiden voyage, and its skeleton crew of over 2,000 trained astronauts would be lost in the depths of space. The launch was a disaster, costing Centerfold and NASA trillions, and it all came down to something as simple as a few lines of math.
With conflict in the east continuing to ramp up, and tensions between the most powerful nations on Earth seemingly inevitable, the race for the cosmos was just getting started, and it was still anyone’s guess who would be the first to leave behind the cradle of Earth…

The current captain serving aboard the Ramship Bucephalus. Holly is a stern and no-nonsense officer, who prefers to run her ship properly and by-the-books. She prefers to keep her crew and acquaintances at arm's length, but does deeply care about all of them, even if she has a hard time showing it. Her tone is often calm and businesslike, though she is known to have a short fuse for insubordination or unplanned-for obstructions.

(professional but stern) "You’ve done good work here, Warner, thank you. You and your team will be put on paid leave for the next few days. If I have any further questions for you I’ll have First officer Truman summon you to the bridge. Until I give the order, none of this is to be made public. That’s a gag order from myself and there will be dire consequences if I find out any of you have squealed. Do I make myself clear?"
(gritting her teeth) "Whatever is going on here, it isn’t our problem. We’ve collected the evidence we need, now we contact the Admiralty and let them handle the rest, and where are those marines?!"
Truman has often been jokingly rumored to be a modified robotic aide that Captain Deckard keeps on staff. His demeanor is often stiff and formal, though he does relax more when he and the captain are alone, and his more humorous side comes through. He and Deckard will occasionally rib one another, but he is unwaveringly loyal to her and to the Bucephalus. He is calm under pressure and follows orders to the letter, though sometimes with a little cheek.

(Explanatory)"It didn’t. No actual message, just a Morse Code standard emergency signal sent via radar. We tried long-range laser communications but didn’t get any answer."
Yancy is a crass and bitter man. He tried and failed to enter into the Fleet Officer training program at a young age, and ever since has made it his mission in life to be a squeaky wheel in any Ramship he inhabits. He holds a special animosity for Captain Deckard, as watching her rise to the rank of Captain aboard the Bucephalus only aggravated his own sense of insecurity.

Jensen is a sarcastic and dry woman. She'll do her job and she'll do it well, but expect a lot of lip.

(scared, speaking into a recorder)"Man, this whole op has got me on pins and needles. I’ve been on paid leave for days now and I can’t seem to relax."
Asya is one of the youngest officers aboard the Bucephalus, but has proven herself to be reliable. She is shy and not very sure of herself or her place among the crew yet. Attempts at small talk are awkward and forced, but she'll try nonetheless to make a good impression on her crewmates.

(Awkward)"…So do you have any plans with Victoria when we get back home?"
Frost is a laid-back and easygoing woman. She takes her job as a medical officer seriously, but that's about it.

Matthews is a cold woman, and a very quiet one. She is the polar opposite of Frost, being extremely no-nonsense.

Hammond is a young man who has only recently been promoted into a full-fledged engineer aboard the Bucephalus. He is good friends with his mentor, Colin Philips, and often spends his off-time on the ship in the Habs, flirting and being flirted with. He is recognized as being very good-looking and charming.

Philips is a long-time engineering veteran aboard the Bucephalus. He knows the ship inside and out and has served on every kind of op imaginable... until this one.

(Insane)"NO! No… you don’t understand. Not yet. You’re still a blind little mouse, but I can open your eyes. This is the only way we survive! You’re just not trying hard enough. You’re trying to stay blind, but I’ll help you, I’ll show you!"
This is not a real character, but a pre-recorded lecturer in a video shown to children in schools across the Fleet. Imagine some of the old VHS documentary tapes that I'm sure your old teachers made you watch, or the kind of voice you would hear in a work training video.

Mudende is an understanding boss. The kind of man who really cares about the people working under him. That said, he doesn't like slackers or anyone who puts themselves above the team, and he doesn't take kindly to tool-thieves.

(Exasperated)"This isn’t playtime at the elementary school anymore, Temple, we’re running an honest-to-God Ramship here and the PIM can’t maintain everything by itself. Get it together, this is the last time I want to talk about this."
Calhan is something of a free-thinker. He knows it isn't his place to question the captain's orders, but sometimes he just can't help himself. He is an extremely competent officer, and Deckard is secretly considering grooming him to be her replacement one day. That said, he is high-strung and doesn't handle stress or criticism well.

Charles is not actually Irish, considering Earth has not existed for several hundred years. However, some things just don't change, and he claims to be from a family that once boarded a Ramship and left Earth that WAS Irish, hence why he still insists on speaking like an Irishman.

Lamb has been an officer for a long time, but was only recently transferred to the Bucephalus after an extremely messy divorce. She is good at her job and works well with the rest of the bridge crew, but still hasn't acclimated to her new working environment, and is keeping everyone at arm's length until she gets to know them a bit better. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, but she'll take great pains to be nice about it.

A tough-as-nails Boarder Marine who's just about seen it all. He's cocky because he has every right to be, and acts with a lot of bravado and aggression, but is pleasant enough to his allies.

Frank has been working hard in Engineering. He's stressed and tired and a little nervous about what's going on.

(Uncharacteristically serious)"Don’t joke about that shit, I heard something like that almost happened on Ramship Helena, one of their emergency alarms malfunctioned and the chief engineer thought corsairs were attacking. Almost scuttled the ship before the captain could convince him that things were okay."
Laughlin is the kind of guy that enjoys life as a passenger aboard the Bucephalus. Most people get a bit stir-crazy waiting for the opportunity to start a colony and have some use to the Fleet, but Laughlin secretly hopes he never has to work a day in his life.

The loving wife of Fireman Vincent Rawne and mother of Elizabeth Rawne. Victoria puts her duties as a mother first and foremost and absolutely adores her baby girl. She appreciates the work her husband does for the ship and the family, but worries often for his safety, as well as about the stimulant habit he claims to have kicked.

The robotic intelligence in charge of maintaining the Ramship Bucephalus's more delicate systems and assisting in human interfacing. He should sound pleasant and empathetic, but with a slight sinister twist.
