Yancy is a crass and bitter man. He tried and failed to enter into the Fleet Officer training program at a young age, and ever since has made it his mission in life to be a squeaky wheel in any Ramship he inhabits. He holds a special animosity for Captain Deckard, as watching her rise to the rank of Captain aboard the Bucephalus only aggravated his own sense of insecurity.
