Counter Man is an hour-long film I wrote that speaks to the metaphoric struggles neurodivergent people (specifically targeting autistic individuals) face in a world that doesn't recognize them. The hints are very subtle beginning towards the middle, although the film shows more significance on symptoms rather than outright explaining they're neurodivergent. Instead, I placed a system in a coffee shop, metaphorized as systems people face in society. I also shoved in my own struggles growing up neurodivergent cluelessly into the small cast, showing how they were represented in me and to me.
For Actors:
COMING SOON!
For Animators:
Backgrounds and movement are minimal.
Also, character design/style > motion.
Extra details below.
🛠 Animation Style:
2D tweening-based animation (not frame-by-frame intensive)
Facial expressions, head turns, and body language are key
Think stylized visual storytelling — clean, simple, emotionally resonant
Software like After Effects, Moho, Live2D, or any tween-based program is welcome
🧩 Workflow & Team Structure:
You will work alongside a team of 3–4 animators, including a Lead Animator. The workload is split, and animations are reused to keep things efficient. A shared visual style and consistent designs will be maintained throughout.
All communication happens through a private Discord server where the director and animators collaborate and share feedback.
⚙️ Deliverables Will Include:
Short animated sequences (3–6 minutes per animator)
Loopable animations (expressions, subtle movements)
Coordination with lead animator for consistency
Use of stick-figure-based storyboard + clear script reference
