Project Overview
Hello everyone! We're looking for two voice actors for our 2D animated short.
About the project
It's a 2D animated short of around 3 minutes made by a group of 5 students.
It is set in modern day America. We're looking for 2 male voice actors. One young adult and one around middle age.
Logline/premise: Two government workers have to descend the cliff where they dump their toxic waste, but the environment has seems to have gotten a bit... stranger.
Synopsis:
2 Government workers, Billy and his assigned babysitter Alberto, have been sent to a strange hole in the middle of the desert to covertly dump toxic waste on behalf of the government. Billy, who's new on the job, is very nervous and accidentally drops their carkeys down the hole when Alberto startles him.
An angry Alberto forces him down the hole after the keys. During his descent Billy notices the terrain and plants around him getting weirder. He tries to bring this up to Alberto but he just rushes him to climb down faster. Billy, eager to keep his job, does as he is told and when the vine he is holding on to snaps he slips and falls down.
Alberto hears a crack of Billy hitting the ground and calls after him, but hears no response. Feeling guilty he climbs down in search of Billy. He finds him at the bottom in the center of the hole, being seemingly overtaken by sentient plants. He rushes towards him to rid him of these parasites. In his panic he is blind to Billy's screams who, unbeknownst to him, was being kept on life support by the vegetation. As Billy slowly dies in his arms, Alberto is left in shock to grapple with what he has done.

Personality: Careful, skittish, idealistic
Fears: Failure, being at fault for bad things. Scary plants.
Goals: Proving himself, making the world a better place
Billy was very excited to land a job within the government, but this is entirely not what he had hoped. It’s clear what they’re doing is dangerous at best and outright harmful at worst, but he’s afraid to question his higher-ups.

Alberto... Wait… the plants... (Dying)
Personality: Jaded, disinterested, cold. Responsible, impatient. Incredibly grumpy.
Fears: falling short, change, loss
Goals: Just dumping toxic waste and getting back out. Ultimately everything is in service of a promotion and getting a higher paygrade.
The many years of being a glorified garbage man have made Alberto jaded and cold. So far he has failed to climb up the ladder, but being trusted to instruct the new guy might be a step in the right direction. He hasn’t much regard for his environment, nor of his fellow people. That is until something goes horribly wrong…
We were thinking of a higher nasally grumpy voice, but feel free to try something different.
Reference: Think Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, but a bit higher pitch or Squidward from Spongebob.
