Archeological Reconstruction Voice Overs (British English Narration)

Archeological Reconstruction Voice Overs (British English Narration)

Project Overview

I run AncientCyprus.com and I am currently experimenting with interactive games and 3D reconstructions. Along with that I am considering whether voice acting may add another layer of interaction for our users.

This project is to add voice acting to this game: https://www.ancientcyprus.com/drakopoulos-collection/provenance

The project has ~48 lines of dialogue, around 4 - 8 words each. It took me 5 minutes to record a rough draft myself, so I hope it takes under an hour for you, though I am not a VA.

Audio can be delivered in WAV mono, I want clear audio that doesn't need heavy processing. You can deliver as 1 long file or as 48 small files, whatever is easiest for you.

It takes 3 - 5mins to play it, but do not think it is required! If you take the role then playing it through once might be good.

I am using the above game as a test ground, if that works well then I want to also try it on our reconstructions: https://www.ancientcyprus.com/reconstructions

In total we will have ~20 experiences including reconstructions. This project is just for the first provenance one.

The role is open to interpretation feel free to try a couple of approaches. There are two slightly different voices I want:
- Documentary Style Narration (but engaging doesn't have to be over the top dry)
- Game Narration (We have some short archeological games / experiences that I want narration on. This will be a bit less dry since some of the lines relate to the player doing something wrong or right. So a tiny bit more emotion)

Please note I have not hired VAs before and I am flexible / looking for input. I know the pay isn't high for this test project so I'm not expecting the world!

  • [Introductory Dialogue] Every antiquity should have a paper trail: who owned it, and when. We call that its provenance. Since a UNESCO convention in 1970, most museums will only take in a piece whose trail goes back before that year.

  • [Slightly more engaging to kick-star the game but still professional] Our amphora's trail stops in 1974. Let's see if we can find something older. Select the lit catalogue on the shelf.

  • [Player makes the wrong choice, a slight "whoops" style voice] Close. Same shape, but look at the shoulder band.
