Anytown Web Series Pilot | Casting Call

Anytown Web Series Pilot | Casting Call

Project Overview

Anytown is an original web series currently in development. It follows a group of friends who live in Anytown, New Jersey as the show presents commentary on modern subjects (such as prejudice, family struggles, and internet culture) while having an all-around fun and pleasant atmosphere with a cast of unique and relatable characters. Over 20+ episodes are being planned, but this casting call is solely for the purpose of finding actors to voice the characters in the pilot episode, which might take about a year to animate. The actors cast in the roles may not be used for the final show unless told otherwise.

  • Deadline change and casting

Hey, everyone. Sorry I've been quiet for a while, I've been having problems with my account. But they're fixed now, so I can give you an update on the casting call. I've been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of auditions I've received. You're all very talented people, and I'm incredibly grateful to all of you for your interest in the project. But because I've received so many auditions, I'm moving the deadline to this Wednesday. This will give me a chance to listen to what I've got and come up with a final decision on the casting. I'll contact all the actors I have in mind for the characters, as well as actors I want for other roles in the pilot. Thanks again for your participation, and I hope you all do great things in the future. - Marc

Amanda is a tomboy. She’s a girl who just goes with the flow, she’s perfectly comfortable in her own world and believes in straying away from the status quo. Her voice has a laid-back, cool, and relaxed sound to it.

  • "I love anything that isn't as popular as it was in the early 2000s."

  • "I don't get why it's so popular. Who'd want to become obsessed with a TV show that doesn't start getting good until they're halfway through the first season?"

  • "Well ya better call her, Romeo. Can't leave a pair of stones unturned."

Dean is a big comic book and sci-fi geek. He’s into everything related to science-fiction and believes in the philosophy of “it’s probable, therefore it’s real”. He’s excitable when things that he’s into are mentioned, but he’s also very insecure about his obsessions. His voice is clear and has a mid-level range, and he speaks relatively fast.

  • "Incredible! This social and political commentary is clearly dated, but is somehow still relevant today!"

  • "I'm just reading an old issue of Captain Spazguard. It's issue 816, the one where Shprack turns out to be a double agent."

  • "I'm telling you, Tyler. Anytown is great. We've got the best comic book store in the world. Drake's Fortress of Nerditude!"

Chris is a film buff. He’s well-versed in cinema and knows every aspect of the filmmaking process in and out. He’s a bit of a control freak and gets a little tense when things don’t go his way (at least when working), but outside of work, he’s generally a pretty chill guy. He's young with an older, somewhat raspier-sounding voice, not too deep but not too high, with a sense of authority as he has a movie director attitude.

  • "Can't talk right now, Phoebe. I'm busy writing the script for my next short film. Then I have to shoot it, then I have to edit it, andthen I have to do the music for it."

  • "I could go for a bite. But let's not be long. I need to get home so that I can finish writing my next batch of ten short films."

  • "Like with my movies, I do most of the work myself. But if I need someone to help me with anything, I ask."

Lauren is a goofy and eccentric girl. She’s the easiest to excite, always smiling, always bouncy, always giggling, and almost never showing any signs of negativity. Her biggest quirk is that she likes to tickle people a lot (particularly Phoebe). She has the brightest, most lovable voice you can imagine. Clear, pure, and heartwarming.

  • "Chewing Scenery is serving breakfast all day today! And they're even serving blueberry pancakes at a discount! (squeals)Eeeeeeeeeeee!! They're the best!!"

  • "Basically, he made a bet with some friends where if he got a girlfriend, he'd get to become owner of the area and convert it into a town. But then his girlfriend disappeared, and soon the rest of his friends did too. So he did what everyone does when their partner goes away, he made an underground shelter and stayed there until his girlfriend came back. But she never did."

  • "I use a special moisturizer that affects how I am, depending on the weather. If it's really hot I'm nice and cool, but if it's really cold then I'm nice and warm."

Esmerelda is a passionate fashion designer. She's obsessed with anything fashionable and elegant, and whatever clothing she thinks looks hideous will cause her to freak out. Outside of that, she's a very calm and collected individual with a hint of Julie Andrews in her gestures. Her voice is similar to Rarity from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, only with more of an edge and a much heavier English accent.

  • "Oh, my stars! Tyler! What happened? Look at these fabrics! They're so ghastly! And the colors are dreadful! Where did you get them?"

  • "(laughing) Ohohohohoho! Tyler, darling, you have a terrific sense of humor!"

  • "Oh! I just remembered! Last week was the non-specific anniversary of when Anytown was founded!"

Brendan is an enthusiastic up-and-coming actor/singer. He's a very Thomas Sanders type, being obsessed with the theater and physical fitness, auditioning for all the local community theater plays and musicals, and generally being very cheery and perky. His voice is the most perfect and heavenly voice you can think of (again, Thomas Sanders type). He has impeccable singing skills and speaks very clearly and articulately.

  • "I could use a nice protein shake. I need to keep my effeminate yet muscular figure in balance."

  • "I've been too busy rehearsing for my big showstopping number. (makes some pose-striking noises) So I'm afraid I can't beinterrupted right now."

  • "But where can we find a woman willing enough to go out with him?"

Mike is the smartest kid in town. He builds all kinds of crazy machines and contraptions, develops formulas, all the crazy science stuff. He’s ridiculously smart but doesn’t really try to emphasize it. Generally, he’s pretty chill and kind of laid back. But when something goes horribly wrong, he’ll freak out. Mike's voice is very youthful and warm.

  • "And most of the top-ranked scientific minds in the world have either lived or been born here."

  • "Well I hope you don't actually believe that people spontaneously broke into modern pop musical numbers in 1869."

  • "We're making a woman out of children. Could we borrow your melons?"

Phoebe is a real science expert. She dabbles with chemistry, creating formulas and conducting experiments that often involve everyday objects. She's a very soft and gentle person, not wanting things to get out of hand and trying to keep other people calm. However, she's often very shy around Mike, who she has a crush on.

  • "So, um, we're all...going into town...a little later. Would you, uh, like to...I mean, not with me, but with everyone. It's not like we're going alone together or anything. Hehehehe."

  • "Awwww, come on, Amanda. It's cute. And it makes up for the bad writing by letting us know that it's bad. It's clever."

  • "Tyler, if I were to know any better, I'd say you were talking it up with the girl at the counter."
