Dream of having your voice and singing animated to some totally cute characters?! Look no further! 

Hello CCC!! My name is Cecilia. 

I am a fourth year animation student studying at SVA. I am looking for wonderful voice talent to bring life to my thesis film!! 

I am looking for people really passionate about voice acting- because i'm looking to create a long term partnership. Some of you may recognize me from my previous casting call or my instagram- you may know I am heavily interested in showrunning and want to continue this project even after I graduate! The film itself will function as a "pilot" / "sizzle reel" / short animation to go alongside a pitch bible I would like to create next year.

Much like my previous project- "Anti-Vampire", I will be interested in creating comic dubs, short animations, animatics, etc. not related to the film itself! (But with the same characters!) I want to create a lot of content and develop a fanbase for my characters!!

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am currently looking for 3 characters, who's personalities and lines are set in stone. However- I may add characters, or change the protagonists' character design (as in physical looks). I am still creating my storyboard and things may change and I may add things- please keep this in mind. However, your roles here will remain unaffected, so you don't need to worry about it.


The Film

My thesis film and pilot (currently untitled) follows an overworked, anxious, constantly-getting-fired-from-her-jobs, stressed out college girl named Fraidy who, on top of all of her earthly duties, has a part time job of working as a Grim Reaper every friday. 

The film itself will follow Fraidy getting pulled from her part time donut shop job by an (currently unnamed) overly excited and bubbly second grim reaper to do their supernatural work and earn a good score on their reaper evaluations and impress their pretentious and fussy Grim Reaper boss! 


Voice Acting

I am currently looking for 4 voice actors- although I may add more as I develop more of the storyboard and introduce more background characters / crowds.

Fraidy: The protagonist. An anxious, fidgety human college student who works at part time jobs to pay for school. Although she can be quite anxious- she is also somewhat hot headed, and isn't cowardly. She's more afraid of getting fired than any type of supernatural threat. Often fired from her jobs, she picks up a lot of odd jobs- fast food, retail, fence painting, pet food taste testing, amusement parks- and of course, grim reaper-ing.

(Unnamed second grim reaper): I still can't decide on a name for her, sorry. Suggestions are welcome! For now I'll just call her "pumpkin girl". Pumpkin girl is an overly excitable, fourth wall breaking, silly grim reaper girl with a pumpkin for a head! Her design is based off of the headless horseman, and she uses her detachable head often for all sorts of silly gags and gravity defying tricks. She's immature, crazy, and a little bit dumb, but still has a pretty feminine air about her. She's super overly attached to Fraidy who doesn't always appreciate her random hugs or jump-scare style cheerful greetings. She also loves to randomly break into song!

(Currently unnamed boss): Although the name for this one doesn't matter as much as the other two. I'll just call her "boss" for now. The boss is an intimidating, nit-picky, egotistical Grim Reaper who is responsible for the two aforementioned dweebs. Although she's the two's boss, she isn't the most powerful or highest ranking reaper out there. But she sure acts like it. She often refuses to see other's point of view or listen to others, and she HATES humans. Basically, just a shitty boss all around.

  • An update

    Hello all!! This is Cecilia. I know a lot of you are very excited for this project, and many of you are waiting patiently for the results of this casting call. To be honest, I have been having health difficulties recently. I've been seriously behind on not only my film, but college in general, my classes, life... This isn't an excuse to leave you all hanging for literally like 2 months of course. But it is the truth. I am also honestly a little shy at listening to and deciding on voice actors, its a weird problem ive had for a while now. Something about hearing my lines read aloud. But i just wanted to send you all an update- that YES, i am still alive, YES, i am still working on this, and NO i didn't just create a project to be discarded and make you all waste an audition on nothing!! I'm working hard to make sure your hard work gets noticed as well!! So, i will be trying to go through auditions at this time. I already have some people i'm pretty sure of.     Almost 300 submissions- i'm astonished!! You guys are so awesome!! Please give me a bit to go through all of the auditions. I am excited to make my choice and start working with you guys!! But this could take some time. I've never had this many voice actors audition before. If I am having a really difficult time deciding- i may consider giving it more time because I recently was made aware that my thesis presentation will only require rough / temp audio. (i still need SOMEONE to record that tho.) However its probably just best for me to pick people now and then ask if they're interested in recording temp audio. Whatever it is, i'm going to let you guys know some of my biggest things i'm looking for while checking these: quality mic interest in future projects /available social media fitting voice- of course If you aren't picked, please don't feel discouraged. Your voice is probably just not what I imagined in my head. But that doesn't mean you aren't talented, just not a good fit for my characters.     Hey yall! Another quick update for you all!! The deadline is coming up!! Im soo grateful for all of your entries so far and i’m so excited to pick my VAs! Reminder that you are welcome to re-record any entries, and please, if you have VA friends looking for work, maybe send them here?? I am looking for more “Boss” entries right now!! Im surprised there weren’t more auditions for her.. she’s fun i promise!! Im actually pretty excited about her, i’m working on figuring out to animate her as a shadow and all that. Soo yea- if you’re interested in her and you have the right voice please consider auditioning! I also want to mention that more roles will be coming up soon!! Very very small roles, unpaid unfortunately. I need background voices for crowds. Currently i’m pretty sure I will have the following locations: busy donut shop, and a club. I will try to add them after I get all of my storyboard details and locations solidified. Im open to fun improv for this one too!!     Hi everyone!! Cecilia here. I have been checking out everyone's auditions so far and im quite impressed!! :D I wanted to give some advice for everyone regarding some of the auditions ive heard thus far! I added an edit to "Pumpkin Girl"'s listing, to try and give some more information. One of you did a sort of .. boston?? new york?? accent- kinda like spinel which I liked !! I think a spinel type voice would fit her quite well- but with it's own original flair , of course!! I also wanted to note- please try not to overdo it with the cuteness!! She IS cute- yes- but I would suggest not going too high pitched as to not sound too grating. Listening to a very high voice for 3 minutes can be a little harsh on the audience. Please do what feels natural to you!! I think Kimiko glenn is a great inspiration for this! I also wanted to include another note regarding pumpkin- some of you were pronouncing asbestos wrong. No biggie !! I don't mind!! But just to let you know- I wasn't sure if people were unaware what asbestos is lol. Am I that old?! TT_TT Note for you all: its pronounced "As-pest-us". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asbestos if you didn't know, now you know. fun fact. Another note, this time for "The Boss". I think i'd like to see her voice go in a more "Sexy" direction. Of course- you DON'T need to overdo it- and please do only what you're comfortable with. But in general, i'm trying to picture her as a more older/mature character!! This isn't directed at anyone's audition!! I just thought of it while drawing her earlier. I hope i'm not seeming nitpicky or like im back-seat-voiceing here!! Rather, i'm trying to be helpful. ;_; Thank you ALL for all the auditions, kind words, shares, and support on this project. Female - 20 something - human - ginger

The protagonist of the film. Fraidy is a young 20 something college student stressed out of her mind and constantly messing things up.

    (monotone, tired grumpily- how a part time job makes you feel. She is reading from a script of what her fast food job wants her to say! She thinks its incredibly lame in all honesty.) 

  • Agh! Jesus christ! What are you doing here?! You almost gave me a heart attack! ...You know they'd kill my ass if I dropped these sprinkles!

    (surprised- after getting surprised by pumpkin girl saying hello) 

  • No- No No! Seriously- Why is everything going WRONG! First of all i'm literally MISSING work, i'm gonna get my ass handed to me, do you know how crowded the store was?! we can't seem to do a single job right and now theres some evil ghost trying to kill us! Are you shitting me?! WHY can't I have a relaxing friday for ONCE?!

EDIT: 10/2 - after listening to some auditions i heard some that i really liked in a sort of boston accent!! Kinda like spinel..? Again, if you can't do an accent well please dont force it!! Your audition can be fine without it. But if anyone can do a spinel type voice (but original in its own way of course) id love to hear it.

Also- more advice for everyone- please try not to overdo her cutesy ness!! She is cutesy and silly- but i dontt want it to feel like, annoying or grating? Please keep it more natural if you can!! Thank you !! 

She also loves to randomly break into song!

Singing quality: MUST have quality mic. Strong voices preferred- able to be heard over background audio. Music style will be pop punk / musical / talk singing. Since the music is pretty intense probably, a strong voice able to be heard over the audio is required! 

Cutesy voices preferred. So like, more pinkie pie than rarity. You don't need to sound super grand and elegant- just cute!

The song will be a fast paced somewhat talk-singing song behind a montage scene, describing what is happening. It will be an original song, I am going to be given instrumentals for you to cover by my composer.

Hello! I am looking for a musical composer to create a short (<1 minute) insert song for the film. My previous composers have backed out on me due to personal issues so I am looking for people to help me create a catchy, fun song to really make the film shine! 

I am looking for something a mix of something kind of musical / mischievous / silly with both singing and a short section of almost “talk-singing.”

I will be providing lyrics, and I am looking for someone to create a song around them. The storyboard is complete, but will be edited around your song. I will then give your instrumental to my singer to sing the words over. A vocal cover is helpful. Or, sheet music. Anything to help my singer properly follow along!

And please let me know if you have experience working with lyrics / vocalists.
