An Author's Reflection- Original Musical
Project Overview
Jax Wilde starts college at his local community college dreaming of being an author. He is depressed and suicidal after enduring trauma and abuse from his alcoholic mother. With the help of his Shakespeare professor, Ed Donahue, he works toward achieving his dream along with enjoying his college experience.
There are 20 official songs in the whole musical but 2 more bonus tracks (22 in total). The style can be seen almost as a similar style as other musicals like ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ and ‘Be More Chill’. The musical deals with topics like mentorship, the LGBTQ+ community, suicide, mental illness, domestic violence, alcoholism, and more.
Because there is a lot of stuff and mental health issues addressed, we want to make sure everyone is comfortable with singing in some songs.
To be in the musical, you must be 18+ or your parents will have to sign a permission slip contract thing saying that you are allowed to be a part of the musical.
THIS IS A TIME COMMITMENT. The musical will be in process for about 6-7 months.
The role is paid. The singer position will get a base pay + credit of course + a free copy of all music after the musical. If you want to help with our social media, we will have to negotiate how to do pay plus I will get you a free copy of all music after we're done.

Sam is around the age of 17 years old. They were born female but identify as non binary using they/them pronouns. They go through a lot in this musical trying to teach their dad what non binary means along with feeling like people judge them at school. They are a super talented cook and hope to open their own restaurant one day. Their dad, Ed Donahue, is accepting, but he keeps calling them by their birth name and using the wrong pronouns accidently. Ed is one of the main characters in the story who helps mentor one of his students along with, we see him, try to balance being a professor with his home life.
introduce yourself to me and tell me why you are interested in the role along with if you can do a project like this in terms of the time commitment and how long the music will take
sing 30-45 seconds of a musical theatre song (can be fast paced or slow)
*crying or near crying* "The state test. In high school. There's male and female and other. What is other? Am I an alien or something"
*irritated* "Dad, how many times do I have to tell you. I'm Sam now. Not Samantha."
*excited* "I'm hoping to open up my own restaurant one day!"
I need a trusted person who can help me make social media posts and come up with ways to help me gain attention and followings. You don't have to have previous social media experience. Looking for someone who would also maybe be able to do some graphic design for me for the pages.
We have twitter, instagram, facebook, and a youtube page.
Please, if you can, send some examples of any writing you've done, past social media, or any graphic design. Pretty much anything that can show me that you can use your skills and talents for the role even if you don't have direct social media experience.
Pay is negotiable and something we will discuss.
Say something you think would fit
