Project Overview
Hello! Welcome! Amulet is a graphic novel series illustrated and written by Kazu Kibuishi and published by Graphix, an imprint of Scholastic. It follows the adventures of Emily, a young girl who discovers a sentient and autonomous magical circular amulet in her great-grandfather's house, and consequently is tasked with protecting an entirely new world from a ruler known as The Elf King.

Emily Hayes is one of the three beginning main characters in the Amulet series. Emily is the sister of Navin Hayes and the Daughter of Karen Hayes. In the beginning of the story, her father had been killed in a car accident which left her heartbroken. Now years later, her, her mom, and her brother Navin moved into a house inherited from Emily's grandfather Silas Charon. Emily is a very determined girl and always tries her best to protect her friends and family. Her character gets a lot of development throughout the stories. (THIS ROLE IS FOR ALL BOOKS SO BE READY FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION)

Trellis or Prince Trellis is an elf and is one of the three beginning main characters in the Amulet book series. He is the son of the Elf King and heir to the throne. In the beginning, he is tasked with killing Emily Hayes but soon comes to be her ally and friend throughout the books. Trellis is 16 so I'm looking for a male teenager voice. It does not need to sound growly or brash. (THIS AUDITION IS FOR EVERY BOOK SO BE PREPARED FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!!)

Navin Hayes is one of the three beginning main characters of the Amulet book series. He is the Son of Karen and David Hayes and is the younger brother to Emily. Throughout the book he becomes more mature even for his age. I'm looking for a young boy voice that can also sound determined. Navin is 10 years old in the beginning of the series and grows to be 13 at the end. (THIS AUDITION IS FOR EVERY BOOK SO BE PREPARED TO BE IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN WHEN YOU AUDITION!!!)

Karen Hayes is the Mother to Emily and Navin. She is also the wife of David Hayes. She is shown in the comics to be loving, caring, and always thinking about her children and their safety first. She becomes more comfortable with Emily and the stone throughout the series and starts to show more trust in Emily's decisions as the series progresses. Karen is in her late 30's to early 40's. I'm looking for a somewhat youthful but motherly voice for her. (THIS AUDITION IS FOR ALL THE BOOKS SO BE PREPARED FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!!)

was an assistant of Silas Charnon (the great grandfather of Emily and Navin) and a side/mainish character of Amulet. at the start he was very skeptical about serving Emily and Navin, because of their age. In the first book, Cogsley was mean to Emily and Navin but soon afterwards he started getting attached to them. Cogsley is over 50 years old but does not age and will still sound like an adult but any voice works. Just have fun with it! (THIS AUDITION IS FOR EVERY BOOK SO BE PREPARED TO BE IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!!)

Four years before the current premise of Amulet, David, Emily, and Karen are on their way to pick Navin up from a unknown destination. Along the way, David tries to avoid hitting a person who had a broken down car. The car drives off the railing and tumbles down a steep hill. At the bottom they crash into a tree that is next to a cliff. David becomes stuck under the dashboard of the car and the car starts leaning against the tree and sliding towards the cliff. Karen and Emily escape, but they can't save David, because his legs were stuck under the Dashboard. who falls off the cliff along with the car and dies falling into the city below. David is in his late 30's/early 40's so I'm looking for a gruffyish voice. (THIS CHARACTER DOES SHOW UP LATER IN THE SERIES SO BE PREPARED TO BE IN THIS FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!)

is a supporting character appearing in the Amulet series. He was the husband of Isabel Charnon, the grandfather of Karen Hayes, and Emily, and Navin Hayes' great-grandfather. An inventor of immense intellect, he created Miskit, Cogsley, Morrie, and all of the other robots that live in the Charnon House. Silas does show up later in the books. Silas in the beginning is 80 years old and is holding on to what life he has left. I'm looking for an older man voice who can sound elderly. Silas's younger self does show up as well in the comic so that will either be playedby another person or if you can do both even better. Morrie is one of the robots built by Silas Charnon in the Amulet book series. He is a side character assisting Emily and her family whenever he can throughout the books. Morrie is timid and shy and gets scared easily so I'm looking for a shaky and shy voice for him. (THIS AUDITION IS FOR EVERY NOOK SO BE PREPARED TO BE IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!)

Miskit is one of the robots created by Silas Charnon in the Amulet book series. He is one of the side/mainish characters of the series, helping out Emily a lot throughout the books. Miskit is strong and helpful. He tries to keep Emily out of harms way but sometimes this judgement he makes can be clouded. (THIS IS AN AUDITION FOR EVERY BOOK SO BE PREPARED TO BE IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN IF YOU AUDITION!!)
